Bome, Giacinto "George" January 8, 2005 Giacinto Bome, 95, of Solvay, died unexpectedly at home on Saturday. A lifelong resident of Solvay, he attended Solvay Schools and graduated from Central City Business Institute in 1925. After working 45 years at Allied Chemical as an AssistantTraffic Manager, he retired in 1974 and was a member of the Forty Year Club. He was a Village Trustee for 10 years, and was a member of the Tyrol Club of Solvay, recently recognized as its oldest living male member. He was a member of the Solvay Tigers AC, Solvay-Geddes Community Youth Center, The Syracuse Transportation Club and was the last surviving member of the "Happy 13". He was a communicant of St. Cecilia's Church. His loving wife of 63 years, Elena Giovanini Bome, predeceased him in 1996. Surviving are his daughter and son-in-law, Mary and E. Boon, Catherine Mirabito December 26, 2004 Catherine Mirabito Boon, 80, of Virginstow, Devon, England, died on December 26, 2004. Catherine was born in Fulton to Ross and Frances Mirabito. She was a graduate of Fulton High School, the University of Rochester School of Nursing and practiced at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester for several years. She also worked with the Frontier Nursing Service in Hyden, Kentucky. In 1955 she moved to England where she and former husband, William Edward (Ted) Boon, raised four children. Catherine was predeceased by her parents, Ross and Frances Mirabito; brother, Angelo Mirabito and niece, Teresa Boese. Walt is now reunited with his wife of 61 years, Alice Sweeney Cavanaugh, who predeceased him on April 22, 2004. She was the head cashier for the Syracuse office of the Department of Motor Vehicles for many years until retiring in the mid 1980s. Lil was a member of Temple Beth El and served on the executive level of the board of trustees of the Temple, a past president of the Sisterhood, as well as numerous committees. She was also a member of Na' Amat, and had served on the board of Jewish Community Center. Her husband, Morris died in 1987. January 9, 2005 James G. Scott Jr., 74, of Baldwinsville, died Sunday. Born in Petersburg, VA., he was a 1952 Cornell graduate in Civil Engineering. Mr. Scott oversaw the building of many well-known Syracuse landmarks such as the Post Standard and Syra-cuse University Schine Student Center. He was an active parishioner for many years at St. Paul's Cathedral. He is survived by his wife, Leona; two children, James G. Stonecipher, 67, of North Syracuse and Daytona Florida, died Saturday in Florida. A native of Liverpool, he had retired in 1991 from General Electric where he was an industrial plumber. He was a member and former steward of theIEU Local 320 and a member of the GE Retirees. He also was a member of H.O.G. Suiter Jr., 76, died Sunday at St. Joseph's Hospital. He was born in Syracuse and graduated with honors from Vocational High School. Mr. Tyler was born in Vermontville, NY, on August 8, 1932, the son of John and his wife Elizabeth Sweeney Tyler. Wade lived most of his life in the Fulton area and was employed at Sealright for 16 years, and also worked an Anheuser-Busch for 10 years. Tyler also worked in the maintenance departments at Bristol-Myers and General Electric. He is survived by his wife Doris Janet Tyler of Fulton; one son Mickey Tyler and his wife Jane of Baldwinsville; one daughter Deborah Hood and her husband Mark of Cape Coral, FL; four grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Published in the Syracuse Post Standard on 1/11/2005. Webb Jr., Walter January 9, 2005 Walter Webb Jr., 84, of North Syracuse, NY, died Sunday in the VA Medical Center, Syracuse, NY. Born in Mexico, NY, he was the son of the late Walter R. and the late Ruth McClymund Webb. Mr. Webb graduated from East SyracuseHigh School in 1939 and received a BA in Political Science in 1950 from Syracuse University. Entered the U.S. Navy on September 12, 1942 as an aviation cadet. He graduated from Navy pilot training, Pensacola, Florida on December 15, 1943. During the period of December 16, 1943 through June 28, 1946 he served as a Navy Carrier Fighter Pilot in the South Pacific. His World War II tour was spent in Okinawa and the Asiatic-Pacific Theatre of Operations. Colonel Webb flew single engine Navy fighters in 82 combat missions and logged a total of 346 combat hours. Upon his release from active duty on June 28, 1946 he was transferred to the Naval Reserves and remained there until April 2, 1949. On April 3, 1949 he accepted an appointment with the NY ANG as a fighter pilot in the 138th Fighter Squadron. Since his appointment with the ANG, Colonel Webb had been involved in two activations. The first EAD tour began on October 1, 1961 through August 20, 1962 in which the unit was sent to France during the Berlin Call-Up. He was assigned to the 102nd Tactical Fighter Wing as the Ground Safety Officer for the Base. His second tour was in Cannon AFB, New Mexico from May 13, 1968 through December 20, 1968 where he was assigned to the 140th Tactical Fighter Wing. Colonel Webb's assignment there was as Wing Executive Officer. Upon his return to Hancock Field on December 21, 1968 he assumed his previous position as Commander, 174th Combat Support Squadron and had retained that position. He received the Air Medal with two (2) OLC's, Distinguished Flying Cross; Pacific Campaign Medal with one (1) BSS, Air Force Reserve Medal with one (1) HGD, National Defense Service Medal, Philippine Liberation Ribbon, American Campaign Medal, World War II Victory Medal, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, Armed Forces Longevity Service Award Ribbon, Small Arms Expert Marksmanship Ribbon, New York State Long and Faithful Service Medal for 20 years. Wicks Jr., 35, died suddenly Saturday morning at Community General Hospital. Jeff was the beloved husband of Keliane; and the devoted father of Kaylah, Jakubek "Jake", and Zekiel "Zeke". He was a lifetime resident of the Valley of Syra-cuse. While earning his associate's degree at OCC, he was employed at John Deere. He began earning his associate's degree in mortuary science at Simmons Institute of Funeral Service while employed at Intermedia Communications. Upon graduation from Simmons, he worked as a licensed funeral director with the Falardeau family. Jeff was a truly astounding musician, singer and songwriter. He was extremely intelligent with an unbridled creativity and passion for all things dearest to him. He was hardworking and strong willed in every aspect of his life. He was very compassionate and a true believer in justice for those who deserve it the most. Jeff was a simple-kind-of-man who loved his family above all else.
