Bome, Giacinto "George" January 8, 2005 Giacinto Bome, 95, of Solvay, died unexpectedly at home on Saturday. A lifelong resident of Solvay, he attended Solvay Schools and graduated from Central City Business Institute in 1925. After working 45 years at Allied Chemical as an AssistantTraffic Manager, he retired in 1974 and was a member of the Forty Year Club. He was a Village Trustee for 10 years, and was a member of the Tyrol Club of Solvay, recently recognized as its oldest living male member. He was a member of the Solvay Tigers AC, Solvay-Geddes Community Youth Center, The Syracuse Transportation Club and was the last surviving member of the "Happy 13". He was a communicant of St. Cecilia's Church. His loving wife of 63 years, Elena Giovanini Bome, predeceased him in 1996. Surviving are his daughter and son-in-law, Mary and E. Brooks, 92, Willow Valley, Lancaster, PA and formerly of Syracuse, NY, died January 10, 2005 at Willow Valley. Born in Syracuse, the son of the late Colin and Mildred Brooks. He was married 62 years to Audrey W. Brooks. Robert worked for Crucible Steel Co. in Syracuse for 42 years and also as a volunteer at Upstate Medical Center for 20 years. He was an Eagle Scout and received the Silver Beaver Award for outstanding achievement. Robert was a member of Rockefeller Memorial Methodist Church in Syracuse. Surviving besides his wife, Audrey, is a daughter, Caroline B. Johnson of Orland, FL; and two sons, David R. Brooks of New Canaan, CT and Steven H. Mildred was a life resident of Syracuse and graduated from Vocational High School. She was employed by the New York State Department of Taxation, from which she retired in 1972.Mildred was an avid golfer and was a member of Tuscarora Golf Club, where she served as president of the women's nine hole league. Huther, Cornelia Piotraw January 8, 2005 Cornelia Piotraw Huther, 100, of Tavares, FL, passed away Saturday. Born in Hamilton, NY, February 18, 1904, Mrs. Huther graduated from Hamilton High School in 1921. She attended Wells College and the Utica School of Commerce. She was Secretary to William L. Burke, District Attorney, in Hamilton for two years. She graduated from Syracuse University in 1927 where she was a member of Pi Beta Phi Sorority and ETA Pi Upsilon, Senior Honor Society. After graduation from Syracuse, she taught business subjects at North Syracuse High School for three years from 1927 to 1930. She returned to Hamilton in 1930, after her father died, to be Secretary to William A. Reid, Director of Athletics at Colgate University. In 1931 she married Joseph Huther who was in the Colgate Physical Education Department. In 1933 they moved to Auburn where he was Director of Health, Physical Education Athletics and City Recreation in Auburn. Mrs. Huther was active in St. Peter's Episcopal Church in Auburn, St. Thomas Church in both Hamilton, NY, and Eustis, FL. She was a member of the Reading Club and Fortnightly in both Hamilton and Auburn. In 1957 they returned to Hamilton where her husband was Director of Public Relations for AMA. After his death in 1995, she moved to Florida where they owned a home in Tavares and had spent winters. She is survived by son, William and his wife, Carol, of Skaneateles, NY; grandchildren, Erika (Jason) Clark of Fayetteville, NY, and Kevin Huther of Boston, MA; great-granddaughter, Leah Clark; and several nieces and nephews. His wife, Angelina Greco Merulla, died November 28, 2003. Syracuse and Mattydale areas for 20 years before moving to Conway, SC, lastyear. He was a naval veteran of the Korean War and served aboard the USS Valley Forge. He worked for many years as a car salesman at various dealerships in the Syracuse area. Arthur was also a member of the American Legion Post #1832 in Mattydale. Jim retired after 33 years, working as a paver. He was a loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend who will be missed by all who knew him. Suletti, 61, of Syracuse, died Tuesday at St. Joseph's Hospital. He was a 1962 graduate of North High School. A life resident of Syracuse, Mr. Suletti was a well known local musician who played throughout the area in the 1960's and 70's.He also played at clubs on the west coast and in Florida during that time. He managed his family's restaurant, The Clam Bar, from 1980 until its sale in 1991. He was predeceased by his father Joseph in 1986 and his mother Victoria in 2004. Wicks, Jr., 35, died suddenly Saturday morning at Community General Hospital. Jeff was the beloved husband of Keliane; and the devoted father of Kaylah, Jakubek "Jake", and Zekiel "Zeke". He was a lifetime resident of the Valley of Syracuse.While earning his Associate's degree at OCC, he was employed at John Deere. He began earning his Associates degree in Mortuary Science at Simmons Institute of Funeral Service while employed at Intermedia Communications. Upon graduation from Simmons, he worked as a Licensed Funeral Director with the Falardeau family. Jeff was a truly astounding musician, singer and songwriter. He was extremely intelligent with an unbridled creativity and passion for all things dearest to him. He was hard-working and strong willed in every aspect of his life. He was very compassionate and a true believer in justice for those who deserve it the most. Jeff was a simple-kind-of-man who loved his family above all else.
