"Red" Armstrong January 12, 2005 Charles T. "Red" Armstrong, 91, of Cook Ave., Syracuse, passed away Wednesday at the Veterans Administration Medical Center. Charles was a native and life resident of Syracuse. He retired in 1980 from Consolidated Freight Company. Hewas a member of the Teamsters Local 317 and a member of the BPOE Elks #31. Charles was a Marine Corps veteran of WWII and a member of the Coonley-Nojaim Memorial Chapter 30, Disabled American Veterans and the Marine Corps League. He was predeceased by his wife, Helen M. in 1993 and by his son, Thomas C. in 2002. Survivors include his daughter, Carol J. Roberts of Syracuse; his sons, James M. of Browns Mills, NJ, and Charles T. Jr. of Oxford, AL; his sister, Patricia Foote of Dryden; 12 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; and several nieces and nephews. Babson Jr., George Low January 5, 2005 George Low Babson Jr., 84, a resident of St. Simon's Island, died Wednesday, January 5, 2005. "Joe" served in the 3rd Army as a tech sergeant in the Ordinance Corps during WWII in the ETO. Before the war, he was part of the class of '42 at Cornell University where he lettered in hockey, lacrosse and baseball, and was a brother in the Sigma Chi fraternity. He became president of Babson Brothers Company in Chicago. Later he went on to become the vice president for the Metropolitan Bank of New York and was involved in the real estate and investment business. He was an honorary member of Onondaga Golf and Country Club in Fayetteville, NY, past president of "Syracuse Golf Bandits", and a member of Sea Palms Golf and Tennis Resort on St. Simon's Island, where he retired with his wife Lee in 1981. Joe is survived by his wife of 59 years, Lee Babson Smith; his children, Patricia Babson White, George L. Babson, III and his wife Karen Freeman Babson, Barbara Babson Doshna and her husband Walter John Doshna, and Geoffrey A.S. Babson; his grandchildren, Alexis W. Miller, Christopher John Doshna, Nicholas Babson Doshna and Robert James Doshna; and a great-grandchild, Alan Patrick Miller. Brooks, Patricia (Rand) January 8, 2005 Patricia (Rand) Brooks, 78, formerly of Syracuse, died at Cook Health Care Center in Youngstown, Arizona, late Saturday night, January 8, of complications associated with Alzheimer's disease. Born in 1926, she was the daughter of Herbert and Elma Rand of Onondaga Valley. Mrs. Brooks was a 1943 graduate of Onondaga Valley Academy, and had lived in the Syracuse area, on and off, for much of her life. She was formerly employed at the Syracuse Corinthian Club for many years, and later was executive secretary for the B.H. Wragge Co. of New York City for several more years, before retiring to the Syracuse area, and later to Arizona. She is survived by her husband of over 41 years, Walter E. Brooks of Sun City, AZ, formerly of Syracuse; a son, Stephen A. Ruffalo and daughter-in-law Alice M. Ruffalo of East Syracuse; a stepdaughter Debra Brooks of Pahrump, NV; two grandchildren, Stephen C. Ruffalo of Syracuse and Michael A. Ruffalo of Saugerties; two step-grandchildren, Jessie and Chris; and three great-grandchildren. There will be no calling hours, and affairs are being managed privately by the family in keeping with her wishes. Chrostowski, Regina "Irene" Chrostowski January 13, 2005 Regina "Irene" Chrostowski, 89, of Mattydale, passed away at home Thursday. Born in Syracuse, she graduated from Solvay High School and retired from New York State Environmental Conservation Department. She was a communicant of St. Margaret's Church, Mattydale, and was a member of CSCA. Survivors: a daughter, Irene C. Stearns (Ronald) of Morrisville; a son, Ronald F. Chrostowski of Lakeport; four grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Her husband, Francis A. passed away in 1986. Services: 11 a.m. Monday at St. Margaret's Church, Mattydale. Mr. Devendorf was a life resident of Chittenango. He was a graduate of SUNY Oswego and taught auto mechanics for 20 years at the Onondaga-Madison BOCES. He previously was an auto mechanic at the former Pats Chevrolet in Chittenango for 20 years. Mr. Devendorf was a U.S. Navy veteran of WWII and later served in the Korean Conflict with the U.S. Marines for many years. He was a scoutmaster with Boy Scout Troop 11 in Chittenango. He attended the First Baptist Church. Surviving are his wife of 51 years, the former Jeanne Hicks; three sons, William L. (Dody) of Chittenango, John L. of Rochester, and Steven W. Fricano, Rosario (Ross) January 12, 2005 Rosario (Ross) Fricano, age 79, life-resident of Syracuse, passed away Wednesday in the James Square Health and Rehabilitation Center. He served with the US Marines in the Pacific Theatre from 1943 to 1946. He was a member of the Loyal Or-der of the Moose, Holy Name Society at Our Lady of Pompei Church and the West Side All Nationals Football Team. Ross was a Traffic Manager with J.R. Clancy Co. for 39 years, retiring in 1987. He is survived by his wife, Connie Mannino Fricano; a daughter, Sandra A. Stanistreet of Camillus; a son, Daniel (Diane) Fricano of Syracuse; seven grandchildren; two brothers, Jacob Fricano of Syracuse and Charles Fricano of Ballston Spa; also several nieces, nephews and cousins. Jaquint, 83, passed away peacefully with her family and friends by her side on Wednesday at the Francis House. A native of Syracuse, she spent the winters in Madeira Beach, Florida, with her husband of 62 years, Patrick S. whodied in 2000. A former employee of Easy Washer and G.E., she retired from Syracuse Savings Bank. Florence was a dedicated woman who loved her family above all else. She was predeceased by her son Carl D. who died in 1990.
