January 14, 2005 Dorothy M. Collette, age 85, of "The Valley", died Friday at
James Square Health & Rehab. Centre, Syracuse. Born in Syracuse, she retired
in 1982 after 31 years from Sears-Roebuck. She was a communicant of Our Lady
of Lourdes. Shewas preceded in death by her husband, Charles "Sonny" Collette
in 1975. Dorothy is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, James and Kathy
Collette of Syracuse; three grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, several
nieces, nephews and cousins. Services: Thursday, 8:45 a.m. at Ballweg &
Lunsford Funeral Home, Syracuse and 9:30 a.m. in Our Lady of Lourdes, 300
Valley Drive, Syracuse where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by

January 17, 2005 Sandra A. Sabha Devendorf, 64, of Syracuse, passed away

Emmons, John H.   
January 16, 2005 John H. Emmons, 70, of Baldwinsville, died Sunday at his
home. He was born in Shawinigan Falls, Canada, and moved to Baldwinsville in
1962. He was an Army veteran and worked as a machinist at Bristol Laboratories
in Syracuse for 39years. He was a member of the Baldwinsville Moose Lodge
#644, the CNY Art Guild, the United States Power Squadron and the Syracuse
Rose Society. Survivors: his wife of 48 years, Patricia J.; four sons, John F.
(Lynette) of Baldwinsville, James D. (Sandra) of Weedsport, Joseph M. (Jean)
of Cicero and Jeffrey L. (Laurie) of Baldwinsville; three grandchildren,
Matthew, Jeremy and Amanda; several nieces and nephews. Services: 7 p.m.

Grassman Jr., William C.   
January 16, 2005 William C. Grassman Jr., 80, of Liverpool, died Sunday. Born
in Syracuse, graduated from Vocational High School, was a military policeman
during WWII and served 31 years with the Onondaga Sheriffs' Department.
William was predeceased by a brother, Richard Grassman. Surviving are his wife
of 53 years, Shirley Collard Grassman; stepdaughter, Nancy Grassman of
Syracuse; sister, Lois O'Connell of Liverpool; three grandchildren, Angel
Grassman Sherpa, Kandy Grassman and Alan John Grassman; and three
great-grandchildren. Services: Memorial service Thursday 2 p.m.,

Hilner, Hazel M.   
January 15, 2005 Hazel M. Hilner, 86, of Hastings, died Saturday, January 15,
2005, at home after a long illness. Hazel was a loving and devoted wife,
mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She and her husband were loving
foster parents to morethan 64 children. Hazel was predeceased by three sons,
Larry in 1967, Billy in 1985, and Tom in 1999. She is survived by her devoted
husband of 62 years, Harold Hilner; four daughters, Kathy Hilner of Elbridge,
Eileen (Dave) Quimby of Camillus, Lori (Wes) Matt and Jennifer Hilner, all of
Syracuse; two daughters-in-law, Carol Luckette of Camillus and Donna Hilner of
Ocala, FL; two sisters, Mildred Gorham of Chambersburg, PA, and Margaret
Minier of Williamsport, PA; eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Services: 10 a.m. Thursday at the Butler-Badman Funeral Home, Inc., 4504 W.
Seneca Tnpk., Onondaga Hill. Spring interment Howlett Hill Cemetery. Friends

Hunter, George "Dick"   
January 15, 2005 George "Dick" Hunter, of Baldwinsville, died Saturday. He was
retired from Bristol-Myers Squibb Company. He was a Past Master of the Seneca
River Masonic Lodge #160 and an active member of the York and Scottish Rite
Bodies. He was a life member of the VFW #5540 in Phoenix and a life member of
the Moyers Corners Fire Department. Surviving are his wife of 46 years,
Natalie; three sons and two daughters-in-law, Duane and Cathy of North
Carolina, Dwight and Chris of Cicero, Daryl of North Carolina; brother, Alan
Hunter of Baldwinsville; two grandchildren, Casey and Dante of Cicero; several
nieces, nephews and cousins. Funeral services will be 11:30 a.m. Thursday at
the Maurer Funeral Home Moyers Corners. Burial will be at Riverview Cemetery.
Calling hours are 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, January 19, 2005, with

January 8, 2005 Services were held in Camarillo, CA, on Monday, January 17,
for C. Douglas Rasmussen, who passed away peacefully in Apple Valley, CA, on
January 8, 2005. He was born July 12, 1939, in Rome, NY, to Lincoln and Eileen
Joanis-Rasmussen. Doug is survived by his wife, Karen; children, Suzanne Moore
of Baldwinsville, Betsy Rasmussen of Rome, Kimberly Mickle, Kathryn Crilly and
Michael Moore, all of CA; sister, Sharon Large of South Onondaga; longtime
friends, Bob and Judy Pifpher; nine grandchildren; one great-grandchild;
several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. In Doug's memory,

January 12, 2005 William L. Scott, 72, of Moravia, died January 12, 2005. Born
in Pompey, he lived in Moravia several years. He was a self-employed farmer
and carpenter. Married to Beverly Brown Scott, formerly of Borodino.
Survivors: wife, Beverly; daughter, Sharlene Graeff of Utica; sons, Lawrence
of Adrian, MI, and Jeffery of Blossvale, NY; six grandchildren; three sisters,
Mary Prine of Batavia, Mildred Meeker of Munnsville, and Alice Sedorus of

Sova, David L.   
January 15, 2005 David L. Sova, 53, of Peach Blow Road, Cato, NY, died
unexpectedly, Saturday, January 15, 2005 at Newark-Wayne Hospital, Newark, NY.
David was born in Syracuse, NY on December 5, 1951 the son of the late Lloyd
and Vaudene Jutton Sova. He resided most of his life in Cato. He was a veteran
of the U.S. Air Force, a member and the current Bishop of The Church of Jesus
Christ of Latter-day Saints in Auburn, NY, a retired professional firefighter,
and a Cub & Boy Scout leader. Currently, he was employed by the Village of Red
Creek & Wolcott Ambulance Corps as an EMT, Chief of CIMVAC, and a member of
the Victory Fire Department and former chief. He is survived by his wife,
Susan Porter Sova of Cato, whom he married on November 13, 1971; two sons,
Scott (Jennifer) Sova, Odgen, UT; A1C Ryan (Amanda) Sova and son, Carter,
Charleston, SC; one brother, Bert (Vickie) Sova, Hannibal, NY; several nieces
and nephews. Family and friends may call at The Church of Christ of Latter-day
Saints, Kearney Ave., Auburn, NY on Wednesday, January 19, 2005 from 5 to 9
p.m. and on Thursday, January 20 from 1 to 2 p.m. with funeral services to
follow at 2 p.m. with President Michael Hauser, officiating. Spring burial

Sposato, Victoria Ogiba   
January 9, 2005 Victoria Ogiba Sposato, 87, formerly of Syracuse, passed away
Sunday in Albuquerque, NM. Mrs. Sposato was born in New York Mills, lived in
Syracuse for 53 years and in New Mexico since 2003. She retired from
Prestolite, where sheworked for 27 years. Victoria was a communicant of St.
John the Baptist Church, a member of the Ladies Auxiliary VFW Post No. 3146,
Women of the Moose Chapter 0105, Wagon Wheel Center and Our Lady of Pompei
Senior Group. Her husband, Anthony P. Sposato, died in 1993. Survivors: her
sons, John Hubatsek of Mesa, AZ, and Henry Hubatsek of Scottsdale, AZ;
daughter, Patricia Grimsley of Albuquerque, NM; stepson, Peter Galtieri of
Syracuse; 14 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; several nieces and
nephews. Funeral services: Thursday, 9:30 a.m., at FARONE & SON and 10 a.m. in
St. John the Baptist Church. Burial in Assumption Cemetery. Calling hours

Vaccaro, Rita Timmins   
January 17, 2005 Rita Timmins Vaccaro, 78, of Liverpool, passed away Monday.
She was born in Oneida, was a graduate of St. Joseph's Hospital School of
Nursing, and a communicant of St. Joseph The Worker Church. She enjoyed
bowling, sailing and square dancing. Rita is survived by her husband of 50
years, Joseph F. Vaccaro; son, Frank J. (Carol) Vaccaro and their children
Beth and Anna Vaccaro of Liverpool; daughter, Mary Ellen (Maurice) Walsh and
their children Jennifer, Michael, Emily and Alison Walsh of Shawnee, Oklahoma;
daughter Juliana (John) Ryals of Mattydale; sister, Sister Mary Josepha of the
Sisters of Mercy in Buffalo; several nieces, nephews, cousins and many
friends. A funeral Mass will be celebrated by Rita's nephew, the Rev. Michael
Carmola, at 10 a.m. on Thursday in St. Joseph The Worker Church, 1001 Tulip
St., Liverpool. Interment in Our Lady Of Peace Cemetery, Clay. Calling hours 4

Vibbert, Mae A. Greenwood   
January 17, 2005 Mae A. Greenwood Vibbert, 80, of Oswego, passed away Monday
at Seneca Hill Manor in Oswego. She was born in Syracuse and was formerly the
head cook at Oswego State College. Mae was a member of the Southwest Oswego
BaptistChurch. She was predeceased by her husband, Lyman W. Vibbert who died
in 1990. Mae is survived by two sons, Stephen R. Vibbert of Syracuse and Paul
D. Vibbert of Scriba; a brother, Robert Greenwood of Hooks, TX; seven
grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren. Funeral services are 10 a.m.
Thursday at Foster Funeral Home, Hannibal. Burial will be at White Chapel

Wall, Edith E.   
January 16, 2005 Edith E. Wall, 85, of East Lake Rd., Borodino, died Sunday,
January 16, 2005. Mrs. Wall was a native of Cortland, and a resident of the
Borodino, Spafford area for more than 50 years. She was a member of the
Borodino United Methodist Church, a former Sunday School Teacher at the
church, and a member of the church Women's Society (WSCS). Survivors: Dianne
L. Cobb and Janet E. (John) McQueeney, both of Skaneateles; sons, Robert A.
(Jill) Wall of Marcellus, Richard H. (Linda) Wall of Skaneateles, and John E
Wall of Marietta; eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and several
nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her husband, Eldon S. Wall in 1996. Family
will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, at the Norris Funeral Home, 33

White, Lawrence H.   
January 15, 2005 Lawrence H. White, 80, died Saturday at the VA Medical
Center. He served in the USAF in WWII. He was predeceased by his wife, Simone
Brooker White. He is survived by two sons, Mark and Christopher; a sister,
Suzanne Dickson; a brother, Gordon; three grandchildren; and one
great-grandchild. There are no calling hours. A funeral mass will be Wednesday
at 10 a.m. in Holy Family Church. Burial in Onondaga Veterans Cemetery.

Zimmerman, Loretta S.   
January 16, 2005 Loretta S. Zimmerman, 98, of Onondaga Hill, passed away
Sunday at Community General Hospital. Loretta was born in Syracuse and moved
to Oswego in the 1930's, returning to Onondaga Hill in 1966. She had assisted
her late husband, EarlW. Zimmerman, who died in 1996, at the Zimmerman
Photographic Studio in Oswego, and later she was the co-owner of Nedrow Easy
Wash Laundromat, Nedrow. She was a communicant of St. Michael's Church and an
avid SU fan. Surviving are her son, Gary (Beth) Zimmerman of Onondaga Hill;
her daughter, Donna (Don) Cliffe of Cazenovia; six grandchildren, Brian Cliffe
of Maine, Elizabeth Hamel of Macedon, NY, Mary Fatica of Belleville, NJ, Paul,
Eric and Mark Zimmerman of Onondaga Hill. Services Wednesday, 9:30 a.m. at
