July 20, 2005 Mr. Alfred E. Adams, 87, of Lodge Street, Amsterdam, NY, passed away Wednesday evening at St. Mary's Hospital. He was born December 15, 1917, in Fort Plain, New York, a son of the late Raymond and Edna Thompson Adams. He was educated in the Cherry Valley School system and always resided in the area. During World War II, Mr. Adams served with the 3rd Armored Division of the Army in France, Belgium and Germany, and sustained combat wounds. He was an owner and operator of a service station in Amsterdam, NY, following the service. For over 29 years he was employed by the General Electric Company in Schenectady, NY, retiring in 1983. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, coin collecting, and all activities related to Elks programs, especially bingo. He was a member of St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church. He was also a member of Elks Lodge 101 (B.P.O.E.) of Amsterdam, NY, and the GE Quarter Century Club. He was married to Helen T. Urban on November 17, 1945. She died January 28, 2001. Survivors include three sons, David A. Adams, New Hartford, NY, Robert R. (Patricia) Adams, Cohoes, NY, Jeffrey J. Adams, Marlin, PA; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mary Ellen Eddy and Mahalah Krutz, Amsterdam, NY; one brother, Raymond Adams, Cranesville, NY; dear friend, Helen Malicki; nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by a brother, William "Sparky" Adams, and a sister, Nellie Gray. The funeral will be held 8:30 a.m. Saturday at the Jendrzejczak Funeral Home, 200 Church Street, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:15 a.m. at St. Mary's Church. Interment with Military Honors will be at Pine Grove Cemetery, Tribes Hill, New York. Born to her late parents, Arthur and Bertha (Doyle) Larabee in Plattsburgh, she was a homemaker and Phoenix resident since 1986. A member of the Phoenix United Methodist Church, lifelong member of several United Methodist Churches as a teacher, choir member, and United Methodist Women, a Cub Scout Den mother. Predeceased by her husband, Russell W. Blocksidge Sr., in 1988. Surviving are one son, Russell W. Blocksidge Jr. of Kennesaw, GA; one daughter, Dorothy Ragonese of Liverpool; two sisters, Elaine Lewis of Plattsburgh and Evelyn King of Johnson City, TN; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and cousins. Cox, Ronald Alan July 20, 2005 Ronald Alan Cox, of Marcellus and Gouverneur, who was a beloved husband, father, brother, son and friend, died unexpectedly Wednesday at his home in Gouverneur. Ron was a graduate of Onondaga Central High School where he excelled in athletics. He graduated from Clemson University with a degree in Dairy Science. He played varsity basketball under the directions of Coach "Press" Maravich. Ron taught high school physics and coached basketball several years before returning to the profession he loved, dairy farming. Ron made an impression on everyone he met. He was an avid reader and loved spoiling his grandkids. He was predeceased by his mother Laura in 2002. He is survived by his beloved wife of 40 years, Sherry; children, Rim, Laura, Ronnie and Billy Ray; grandchildren, Carey, Haley, Sarah, Josh and Caeden; his father, Stewart Cox; sister, Fay Felty; brothers, Sandy, Chip and Tom; and several nieces and nephews. Born in Brewerton, he has resided in Constantia for the last 35 years. Mr. Gillett was a self-employed contractor owning and operating Gillett Contracting. He was a WWII Navy veteran. He was a world-renowned trout fisherman. He founded Trout Unlimited in Syracuse, was a member of the American Legion Post #915 in Central Square, a 32nd degree mason with the Brewerton Lodge F&AM, former president and National Director of the Home Builders Association, a cub scout leader, former member of the Central Square Board of Education, and he graduated from Central Square Schools in 1943 where he also taught science at the high school. He was predeceased by a daughter, Justine Schnur, in 1990. Mr. Gillett is survived by his wife, the former Joan A. Parker of Central Square; his companion, Eileen Rose of Constantia; two sons, Daniel of Fulton and Thomas of Lynchburg, Va.; a daughter, Kathryn Bellows of Waterbury, Ct.; a brother, William of Bremerton, Wash.; a sister, Janet Berg of Edwardsberg, Mich.; a half-sister, Luetta Comella of Ca.; 13 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Francis was born in Syracuse, the son of Charles and Nettie (Doehner) Haynes. He attended SUNY Brockport. He retired after 20 years as a mail handler with the U.S. Postal Service and was formerly employed by General Electric. He was an Air Force veteran of Vietnam and was "Syracuse's #1 Dallas Cowboy Fan".
