July 21, 2005 Kenneth F. Bailey, 81, died Thursday at Community General Hospital. Born in Buffalo, he lived in Syracuse 75 years. He was a veteran of WWII, serving in the Navy in the South Pacific in top secret submarine warfare. He was a member of IBEW #43 for 58 years and served on its Executive Board. He retired in 1985. In 1991, he was inducted into the Syracuse Bowling Hall of Fame, joining his father who was inducted in 1967. He was past president of both the City and Post-Standard Classic Bowling Leagues, and captain of championship teams in both. He was past president of Skaneateles Greens Men's Senior Golf League, and served as tournament director. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Catherine; a son, Kenneth J. (Kathleen); four daughters, Karen (James) Balduzzi, Sharon (William) Belge, Joanne (David) Rozyczko, and Patti Lu (Victor) Albertson of Ft. Beberwyck, Sister M. Aquiline Beberwyck July 20, 2005 Sister M. Aquiline, 95, of Syracuse, New York, died on Wednesday, July 20, 2005, at Wilson Convent, Syracuse, NY. Sister was born in the Town of Schodack, NY, to the late Emil and Freda Zollina Beberwyck. She entered the Sisters of St. Francis on February 8, 1928, and professed Final Vows on August 26, 1933. Sister was an educator for many years and taught in various schools in Utica and Albany, New York, and Honolulu, Hawaii. For over 30 years, Sister taught at the Convent School/Franciscan Academy in Syracuse, New York. Sister is survived by a sister-in-law, Doris Beberwyck of Nassau, NY, and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a brother, Arnold Beberwyck, and three sisters, Freda Beberwyck, Matilda Beberwyck and Olga Larsen. Cox, Ronald Alan July 20, 2005 Ronald Alan Cox, 61, of Marcellus and Gouverneur, who was a beloved husband, father, brother, son and friend, died unexpectedly Wednesday at his home in Gouverneur. Ron was a graduate of Onondaga Central High School where he excelled in athletics. He graduated from Clemson University with a degree in Dairy Science. He played varsity basketball under the directions of Coach "Press" Maravich. Ron taught high school physics and coached basketball several years before returning to the profession he loved, dairy farming. Ron made an impression on everyone he met. He was an avid reader and loved spoiling his grandkids. He was predeceased by his mother Laura in 2002. He is survived by his beloved wife of 40 years, Sherry; children, Rim, Laura, Ronnie and Billy Ray; grandchildren, Carey, Haley, Sarah, Josh and Caeden; his father, Stewart Cox; sister, Fay Felty; brothers, Sandy, Chip and Tom; and several nieces and nephews. Duecker, Major Douglas "Duke" Winston Duecker July 6, 2005 Major Douglas "Duke" Duecker, a native of Liverpool, NY, stationed at Fort Drum in Watertown, NY, passed away July 6, 2005, while on a special training assignment at Fort Belvoir, VA. Major Duecker had enlisted in the Army in 1989. He then was selected for OTS. After several promotions and completing Ranger training, he received his most recent promotion to Major. Major Duecker did a tour in Kuwait and another in Iraq. Before he started his Army career, "Duke" had completed several years of college and studies in classical guitar at Palomino College in CA. He was an avid player and fan of all forms of music. His father, Donald L. Duecker, preceded Major Duecker in death. Born in Sterling, NJ, he resided in Switzerland through his teen years, returning to the United States and settling in Syracuse. He worked as a miller for Marsellus Casket Co. for 30 years and retired in 1972 as a machine operator for Marine Midland Bank after 15 years. He was a communicant of St. James Church and a Navy veteran of World War II. He was a real family man and he participated in as many of his grandchildren's and great-grandchildren's activities as his health would allow. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ellen Hyland Heizman in 1991. He is survived by his daughter, Nancy H.
