Carter, 73, died Sunday, May 29, 2005, at the home of his daughter in Virginia. A native of Hannibal, he had resided in Fulton most of his life. He retired in 1995 after 45 years at Nestle Company, Fulton. Fred was a member of State Street United Methodist Church, Fulton, was an avid golfer, and he enjoyed camping. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was predeceased by his wife of 38 years, Mary Grant Carter, who died in 1994. Fred and Mary were foster parents for many years. He worked 33 years for the Carrier Corp. retiring in 1984. Gary was a Navy veteran of WWII and was a member of the Marcellus American Legion Ralph Share Post #297. He was a past member of the Marcellus Volunteer Fire Department and a communicant of St. Francis Xavier Church, Marcellus. His wife, the former Rose E. Stopyro, died in 2002. Congdon, 68, died Thursday, May 19, 2005 at Lutheran Hospital, Ft. Wayne, IN. Born in Syracuse, he was a resident of Cicero until 1974, where he worked at Cambridge Filter & Gladding Corporation. After eight years in Homer,he moved to Indiana and was a Controller for Seyfert Foods Division of Borden for 14 years before retiring in 1996 . He was a graduate of North Syracuse High School and SUNY at Alfred. Roger truly enjoyed his family and friends. He also enjoyed auto racing, the Indianapolis Colts and was an accomplished fisherman boating a 41# Muskie on the St. Lawrence River last fall on his last fishing trip. Surviving are his wife, Bernita Burr Congdon; children, Mark (Susan), of Geneseo, Sharon (Dana) Wavle of Cortland, Joanne (Allan) Ladowski of Churubusco, IN and Robert (Jennifer) of Ft. May 30, 2005 Joseph M. Jackson, 91, of Baldwinsville, formerly of Toronto and Skaneateles, passed away on May 30 at Francis House in Syracuse, NY. Born in Perryville, MD, at Ingleside Farm, Joe was a graduate of the Tome School and Johns Hopkins University, class of 1935, with a degree in mechanical engineering. Having worked his way up through the ranks of the company, Joe became president of Leeds & Northrup Canada, Ltd. Striking out on his own, he became owner and president of THA Technical Industries Ltd. in Toronto. He was a member of the American Instrument Society and Professional Engineers of Canada. In retirement, Joe became an enthusiastic participant in the Skaneateles community with a special fondness for the Skaneateles Rotary Club, never missing a meeting in 10 years. He also enjoyed his involvement with the Skaneateles-Auburn Model Airplane Club, but perhaps his greatest joy during his years in Skaneateles was his position of Crossing Guard for the young school children. He moved to Baldwinsville in 1999, continuing his passion for cars and, until a few weeks ago, was restoring a 1967 Datsun 1600 roadster. Many Baldwinsville residents will fondly remember Joe as "the have a happy day man." He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Dorothea (Murphy); children, Gail Jackson (Ted) Strobeck of Baldwinsville, NY, and Susan Willard Jackson of Bainbridge Island, Washington; grandsons, Jeffrey C. and Timothy J. Sprague, Nancy Jean (Gorman) (Gorman) Sprague May 31, 2005 Nancy Jean (Gorman) Sprague, 69, passed away on Tuesday after being diagnosed with liver cancer in April. Nancy was born in Syracuse the daughter of Willis A. and Virginia B. Gorman. She graduated from Central Tech High School in1954 and married Raymond D. Sprague, March 31, 1956. Nancy worked 27 years for ISO and finished her career with the Carpenters Insurance Fund. She enjoyed her retirement years by traveling with Raymond and their friends as well as helping her daughter Karen raise her triplet boys. Nancy was proud of all of her grandchildren and their accomplishments. Nancy is survived by her husband of 49 years, Raymond D. Sprague; three children and their spouses, Linda and Brian Burns and their children, Lindsey, Rockne, and Breann; Doug and Sue Sprague and their children, Ryan and Kristi, Karen and Jim Reiss and their children, Emily and the triplets, Roman, Cameron, and Tucker; brother, William and Rita Gorman; and sister, Rena and Albert Antinarella. Nancy accumulated many cherished friends, especially Molly Voltz with whom she shared all her requests for her final journey home. Walker, 85, of Granby, died Monday at Lee Memorial Hospital, Fulton. Born in Metz, New York, Mr. Walker had resided in the Granby area since 1945. He retired in 1982 from Armstrong World Industries, Fulton, after 37 years. Mr. Walker was a member of the First Congregational, United Church of Christ, Fulton, where he had served as trustee and on the building and repair committee. He was a member of Hiram Lodge #144 F.&A.M., Fulton, where he was awarded the Dedicated Service Award and had served as Associate Grand Sentinel of the Grand Lodge of Masons State of New York. He was a member and past patron of Elizabeth Chapter #105, O.E.S., Fulton. He was an Army veteran of World War II, serving in the African and Italian Campaigns with the First Armored Division Field Artillery. Surviving are his wife, the former Beatrice "Bea" Vaughn of Granby; two daughters, Brenda Walker of Newark, NY, and Beth Cavalli of Novato, CA; three sons, Bruce Walker of Fairborn, OH, Brian Walker of Cheyenne, WY, and Barry Walker of Scottsville, NY; a sister, Nell Martz of Rochester; 13 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and cousins. Services will be 10 a.m. Friday at Foster Funeral Home, Fulton. Calling hours will be Thursday from 4 to 7 p.m. with a Masonic service at 6:30 p.m. at the funeral home, 910 Fay Street, Fulton. Wise, Leora Fae May 28, 2005 Leora Fae Wise, 77, passed away with her family beside her on Saturday. Leora (Lee) was a lifelong resident of Central New York. She was born in Pompey Hill, NY, August 13, 1927. She was a graduate of Marcellus High School in 1944 and received adegree from SUNY Morrisville in Home Economics in 1947. Her experiences in the food service industry included International Harvester, Syracuse Psychopathic Hospital, Skaneateles Central Schools and Owner/Operator of The Wise Stop, Borodino, NY. She also had a lucrative business as a wedding caterer. Her creative talents were limitless and went far beyond her jobs. She was a great seamstress, gardener, carpenter (at times), and baker. She was an active member of the Spafford Historical Society, and Skaneateles Garden Club. She also volunteered at the Marcellus Public Library. She was predeceased by her husband of 43 years, Richard Wise, Sr. in 1994. She is survived by one daughter.
