His wife Beverly died in 1987. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II during which he received the Bronze Star. He was a self-employed home remodeling and repair specialist for many years. Jerose, John Michael June 1, 2005 John Michael Jerose, 67, of Etowah, NC, died Wednesday, June 1, 2005, at Memorial Mission Hospital in Asheville, NC. He was born in Syracuse, NY, son of the late Nicholas and Germaine Heppell Jerose. He was also preceded in death by a son, Michael Jerose, who died in 1982. He served in the Army National Guard. Before moving to Henderson County in 1988, he had resided in Asheville for 17 years. He was manager of Thoms Cable Vision and past chairman of the board of Thoms Rehab Hospital for eight years. He was owner/operator of The Outsiders, Inc. in Hendersonville for 16 years. He was a member of Four Seasons Rotary Club and the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. Lanza, 86, of Fayetteville, passed away Thursday at his home, surrounded by his loving family. Mr. Lanza was an Army veteran of World War II and was a member of Chapter 30 of the Disabled American Veterans. He was employed by the Herald-Journal for many years before retiring in 1973. He was a member and past president of Our Lady of Pompei Holy Name Society and was an avid bowler and golfer. He had also been a former secretary of the Holy Name Bowling League and the Pat Bombard Bowling Classic. He was also a member of the Arrowhead Golf Club. His wife, Genevieve (Anthony) Lanza, died in 1998. He is survived by two sons, Joseph J. Lanza of East Syracuse and Jamie S. Mullins, 79, who died Friday, June 3, 2005, at the United Helpers Nursing Home, Canton, where he had been a resident since 2001. Arrangements are with the Garner Funeral Home of Potsdam. Born January 3, 1926, in Troy, New York, the son of Gerald A. and Alma Smith Mullins. He attended Troy schools and graduated from Syracuse University in 1950. Mr. Mullins served in the United States Army during World War II and was awarded with a purple heart medal and a bronze star medal. In 1955 he married Margaret P. Wells. Mr. Wells is survived by his wife of Tallahassee, FL, and a son Michael A. and his wife Jennifer Mullins of Phoenix, AZ; by three grandchildren, Elizabeth C., Sara Jane and Alex J. Mullins, all of Phoenix, NY; and by a sister, Sandra Doyle of Troy, NY. He was predeceased by his parents and two brothers, Albert and Paul Mullins. Mr. Mullins was a retired professor from Syracuse University where he taught Public Relations at the Newhouse School. He is the author of 35 novels. He was a board member and treasurer of CNY Wildfowlers and also a coach and on the board of directors of the Taft Road Little League for many years. Jeff was an avid duck hunter and fisherman.
