June 6, 2005 Retired U.S. Army Colonel Timothy F. Collins, 58, of Marcellus, passed away Monday. Born in Syracuse, he resided in Marcellus the past 28 years. He received his bachelor's degree from Rochester Institute of Technology in 1973, and his mas-ter's degree from State University of New York at Cortland in 1996. A veteran of the Vietnam and Gulf Wars, he was the ground liaison officer for the 174th Infantry during the Gulf War. He received many decorations and medals, including a Bronze Star for Valor. He was formerly the West Point Liaison Officer. Member of the Vietnam Veterans of America, Valley American Legion Post #1468, an Ombudsman for E.S.G.R., and member of 69th Armor Assoc. Timothy was the owner of Lee's Feed Store on Milburn Dr. in Syracuse. He was the son of the late Joseph and Frances Collins. Betty was born in Bluff Point, NY, in 1921. She graduated from Penn Yan Academy and the Ontario Business Insti-tute in Geneva. Betty was a warm and giving wife, mother, grandmother, neighbor and friend who cared deeply for others. During WWII she was active in the USO in Geneva. She was an energetic member of Lafayette Avenue United Methodist Church in Syracuse and served as an officer of the UMW. She retired from the Syracuse University School of Education in 1983 after 18 years as a secretary. Betty volunteered with Meals On Wheels after retirement. She was predeceased by her husband of 53 years, Jay. She is survived by her children, Bonnie and David (Diane), both of Syracuse; her grandchildren, Jessica and Michael; and her great-granddaughter, Kayle.
