June 7, 2005 Harold W. Arnold, 85, of Phoenix, died Tuesday. Born in San
Antonio, TX, he was a retired truck driver with Boss-Linco in Syracuse. He was
a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Fulton. He was
an Army Air Force veteran of WWII. He is survived by his wife of 65 years,
Elizabeth J. Arnold of Phoenix; son, Paul L. of Charlevoix, Michigan;
daughter, Brenda Harper of Clay; sister, Mildred Church; four grandchildren;
seven great-grandchildren; eight great-great-grandchildren. Calling hours will
be Friday 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. with a service to follow at 1 p.m. at the Maurer
Funeral Home Moyers Corners, 3541 Route 31, Baldwinsville. Burial will be in

Ballis, Harry   
June 7, 2005 Harry Ballis, a resident of Manlius, died June 7, at University
Hospital. Mr. Ballis was a life resident of the Syracuse area, and managed the
family farm in Manlius and then was employed at Carrier Corp. until he retired
in 1975. Survived by his wife Laura; sister-in-law, Florence Dubnoff; nieces,
Ruth Nosenchuck, Sharon Weiner, Barbara Bayanker, Barbara Schulman; and
nephews, Ira Dubnoff, Leonard Koldin and Alan Koldin; several grand-nieces and
nephews. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Birnbaum Funeral

Battle Sr., Anthony G.   
June 6, 2005 Anthony G. Battle Sr., of Syracuse, passed away Monday at his
son's home. Born in Auburn, New York, Mr. Battle was a resident of Syracuse
for over 70 years. He was a member of the Lyncourt Volunteer Fire Department
for over 40 years and a commu-nicant of St. Daniel's Church. Anthony was the
owner and operator of Battle's Garage, and also worked at G.E. for 10 years.
His wife, Carmella L., died March 2, 2005. Survivors: his son, Anthony "Sonny"
(Karen) Battle of Tully; grandchildren, Lisa Battle, David (Frances) Battle
and Brian (Michelle Topolski) Battle; great-granddaughter, Makahla Battle;
brothers, Robert Battle of Syracuse and Arthur Battle of Boston; sisters, Ida
Damesimo of Florida and Anita Baronia of California; several nieces and

Becker, Loretta M.   
June 7, 2005 Loretta M. Becker, 80, of Jordan, died Tuesday in Van Duyn Home
and Hospital. She was a life resident of Jordan and a 1942 graduate of Jordan
High School. Mrs. Becker was a communicant of St. Patrick's Church, Jordan.
She was formerly employed at Jordan Wire & Cable Co. and the General Electric
Corp. Mrs. Becker also provided home care to several people in the
Jordan-Elbridge area. She was predeceased by her husband George O. in 1999,
sons George N. in 2000 and Philip J. in 2004. She was also predeceased by
sister Mabel Arnold and brother Philip Albert DiRisio. Surviving are her
daughter, Loretta Ann Stetson of Weedsport; son, Gregory E. (Robin) Becker of
Syracuse; two daughters-in-law, Cheryl Becker of Elbridge and Connie Becker of
Syracuse; brothers, Louis DiRisio of Auburn and James DiRisio of Fla.;
sisters, Helena Burkinshaw and Rose (John) Crim, both of Jordan; 10
grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. A Mass
of Christian Burial will be offered 10 a.m. Saturday in St. Patrick's Church.

Billy, Ruth M.   
June 7, 2005 Mrs. Ruth M. Billy, 82, of Solvay, died Tuesday at University
Hospital. Native and life resident of the Syracuse area. Mrs. Billy was a
former banquet waitress at many area local hotels, including The Onondaga
Hotel, for many years. Predeceased by her husband, Francis G. Billy, in 1999,
and her son, Richard F. Billy, in 1989. Survived by one daughter, Barbara Jean
Kincler of Glendale, CA; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services are

Collins, Timothy F.   
June 6, 2005 Retired U.S. Army Colonel Timothy F. Collins, 58, of Marcellus,
passed away Monday. Born in Syracuse, he resided in Marcellus the past 28
years. He received his bachelor's degree from Rochester Institute of
Technology in 1973, and his mas-ter's degree from State University of New York
at Cortland in 1996. A veteran of the Vietnam and Gulf Wars, he was the ground
liaison officer for the 174th Infantry during the Gulf War. He received many
decorations and medals, including a Bronze Star for Valor. He was formerly the
West Point Liaison Officer. Member of the Vietnam Veterans of America, Valley
American Legion Post #1468, an Ombudsman for E.S.G.R., and member of 69th
Armor Assoc. Timothy was the owner of Lee's Feed Store on Milburn Dr. in
Syracuse. He was the son of the late Joseph and Frances Collins. Surviving are
his wife, Sandy Bush Collins; his daughter, Katherine Collins of Albany; four
sons, Leut. Matthew (Julie) Collins, U.S. Navy Lemoore, Calif., Timothy
(Aimee) Collins, Syracuse, Brian Collins, Wyoming, David Collins, Orlando,
Florida; his sister, Georgette Collins (Jim) Walter of Louisville, Kentucky;
his mother-in-law, Myrtle Bush of Syracuse; two grandchildren, Nicholas and

DeBoer, Elizabeth   
June 8, 2005 Elizabeth "Betty" DeBoer, 83, of Onondaga Hill, died peacefully
at home Wednesday after a long struggle with Alzheimer's disease. Betty was
born in Bluff Point, NY, in 1921. She graduated from Penn Yan Academy and the
Ontario Business Insti-tute in Geneva. Betty was a warm and giving wife,
mother, grandmother, neighbor and friend who cared deeply for others. During
WWII she was active in the USO in Geneva. She was an energetic member of
Lafayette Avenue United Methodist Church in Syracuse and served as an officer
of the UMW. She retired from the Syracuse University School of Education in
1983 after 18 years as a secretary. Betty volunteered with Meals On Wheels
after retirement. She was predeceased by her husband of 53 years, Jay. She is
survived by her children, Bonnie and David (Diane), both of Syracuse; her
grandchildren, Jessica and Michael; and her great-granddaughter, Kayle.
Service will be at 6 p.m. Friday at Greenleaf Funeral Home at 503 W. Onondaga
Ave. Friends may call 4 to 6 p.m. Friday prior to the service. In lieu of
flowers the family requests that contributions be made to the Alzheimer's
Association, Central New York Chapter, or the Hospice of Central New York.

Dembrowski, Ann
June 7, 2005 Ann Dembrowski, 87, of Syracuse, passed away on Tuesday. Born in
Syracuse, she attended Sacred Heart School and worked at Syracuse China for 38
years before her retirement in 1980. She was a communicant of the Basilica of
the Sacred Heart of Jesus and a member of the Rosary Society. Survivors: a
son, Robert (Nancy) of Weymouth, MA; a brother, Stanley Kolodziejczyk
(Marlene) of Baldwinsville; two granddaughters, Denise Stenson and Donna Gates
of MA; two great-grandchildren, Jason and Chloe; and many nieces and nephews.
Services: 9 a.m. Friday at the GIMINSKI-WYSOCKI FUNERAL HOME and 9:30 a.m. at
the Basilica of the Sacred Heart of Jesus. Interment: Sacred Heart Cemetery

Grieshaber, Betty J.   
June 8, 2005 Betty J. Grieshaber, 86, of Camillus, died Wednesday at Crouse
Hospital. She was born in Syracuse and lived in Camillus for 63 years. Betty
was a librarian at Maxwell Memorial Library. She was also a member of St.
Anne's Guild at St. Luke's Epis-copal Church. Surviving are her husband of 63
years, Gunther S. Grieshaber; son, Bruce (Janice) Grieshaber of Camillus;
daughter, Susan (Robert) Bronk of Baldwinsville; grandchildren, R. Christopher
(Jennifer-Joy) Bronk of Washington, D.C., Juliana (Drake) LaDue of Durham, NC,
and Erica (Joey) Steinhagen of Ithaca; and two great-grandchildren. Her
granddaughter, Jenna Grieshaber, died in Nov. 1997. Friends may call Friday

Grimes, Chris
June 6, 2005 Chris Grimes, 86, of Naples, FL, died Monday, June 6, 2005. She
had been a resident of Naples since 1980, coming from Syracuse, NY, where she
retired after 37 years as a school teacher. Chris graduated from Syracuse City
Normal School and Syracuse University. In Syracuse, she was a member of the
Bellevue Country Club and in Naples she was a member of the Wyndemere and
Imperial Country Clubs. Chris was also a member of Moorings Presbyterian
Church and an active volunteer with Mended Hearts. Survivors include her
daughter and son-in-law, Gigi and Jay Mathews of Naples, FL; three
grandchildren, Jennifer, Jason and Scott. She was preceded in death by her
husband Frank in 1988. The family will receive friends Thursday, June 9, 2005,
from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Muller-Thompson Funeral Chapel, 2011 Pine

LaRosa, Jean Bernardini Rotondo
Rotondo LaRosa June 7, 2005 Jean Bernardini Rotondo LaRosa, age 83, passed
away Tuesday at her home. She was born in Syracuse and worked as a legal
secretary and assistant to her husband Andrew with Rotondo Trucking. She was
predeceased by her first hus-band, Andrew Rotondo, in 1974, her second
husband, Ralph LaRosa, in 1978, and her son, Joseph Rotondo, in 2004. Jean is
survived by three sons, John Rotondo of New Jersey, Andrew Rotondo of San
Francisco, Mark (Christina) Rotondo of Camillus, NY; six grandchildren; two
brothers, Angelo (Elsie) Bernardini of E. Syracuse, Nicholas (Ann) Bernardini
of Liverpool; and one sister, Lucy (Dennis) Patota of Syracuse. Funeral
services will be held on Saturday at 10 a.m. in the Pirro & Sons Funeral Home
and 10:30 a.m. in St. Daniel's Church. Burial will be in the family mausoleum

Misiano, Margaret Regitano
June 7, 2005 Margaret Regitano Misiano, age 99, passed away Tuesday in St.
Joseph's Hospital. Born in Calabria, Italy, she resided in the Syracuse area
since 1921. She was the widow of Peter Misiano who died in 1983. She was
formerly employed by Lear-bury Clothes and Cohen & Goldman. A communicant of
Our Lady of Pompei Church, she was a member of the Rosary Society, St.
Anthony, St. Ann, Mt. Carmel and St. Jude Societies. Surviving: two daughters,
Carmel (William) Bowen of Syracuse and Ann (William) Corcoran of Syracuse;
three step-grandchildren, Lynn, Maureen and William Jr. Funeral services will

Montonaro, Anna (Zaccaria)   
June 7, 2005 Anna (Zaccaria) Montonaro, 78, of Fairmount, passed away Tuesday
at Community General Hospital. She was a graduate of North High School and
life resident of Syracuse. Anna was a devoted wife and mother who enjoyed
spending time with her family. She also loved traveling with the Camillus
Seniors, Holy Family Seniors and Assumption Catholic Golden Age. She worked as
a secretary at Porter Cable and Asam Company, and was a teacher's aide at
Fairmount Elementary and Stonehedge Elementary, retiring in 1986. Surviving
are her husband of 58 years, Dominick; two daughters, Dolores (Roger) Spraker,
of Fairmount and Diane (Bart) Grimsley, of Lakeland; grandchildren, Jay and
Kevin Spraker, Denise and Jacob Lougee; two sisters, Eleanor Zaccaria and
Anita (Jerome) Battisti, both of Syracuse; several nieces, nephews and
cousins. Services will be conducted at 8:15 a.m. Saturday in Bagozzi Twins
Funeral Home and 9 a.m. in Holy Family Church, where a funeral Mass will be
celebrated. Burial will be in Onondaga County Veterans Memorial Cemetery.

Osborne, Gerald J.   
June 5, 2005 Gerald J. Osborne, 86, of Perryville Rd., Chittenango, died
Sunday at the Iroquois Nursing Home in Jamesville. Born in the town of Lenox,
Mr. Osborne was a life resident of Chittenango. He was employed as a mechanic
with Sears for 15 years, retiring in 1984, and previously was employed as an
auto mechanic at the former Pat's Chevrolet in Chittenango. He was a U.S. Navy
veteran of WWII. Surviving are his wife of 58 years, the former Ethel F.
Trendel; a sister-in-law, Laura Striker of Florida; and several nieces and
nephews. Funeral services will be 9:30 a.m. Monday at St. Patricks Church,
Chittenango. Burial will be in St. Patricks Cemetery, Chittenango. Calling
