June 14, 2005 Harold M. Abbott of Makyes Road, Syracuse and Thonotosassa, Florida died Tuesday at home. He was owner/operator of Abbodale Farms in Syracuse retiring in 1998 from the dairy aspect of the business but remaining active in the crop farmingaspect until his death, he also was a school bus driver for the Onondaga Central Schools. He was a former member of the Farm Bureau, a committee member with the Dairy of Distinction Board, a member and past president of the South Onondaga Grange #830 and a member of the Pomona Grange, and was instrumental in the organization of the first agricultural district in Onondaga County. He was a 50-year member of the Morningstar Lodge F&AM, Marcellus. He was a former member and past president of the Onondaga Central School Board. He was the superintendent and a member of the Board of Directors of the South Onondaga Cemetery Association, and a member and Trustee of the Apple Valley Methodist Church. He was predeceased by his sister, Helen Fisher who died in 1994. Surviving are his wife of 56 years the former Jean Adsit; three sons, Dennis (Sue) Abbott, Carl (Kristen) Abbott and Craig Abbott all of Syracuse; four daughters, Denice (Jeb) Bealer and Karen (Butch) White both of Syracuse, Kristie (Alan) Braun of Canandagua, and Jill (Vicki) Abbott of Gainesville, FL; two sisters, Thelma (Bob) Mead of Syracuse and Cheryl (Bob) Charboneau of Honeoye Falls; 12 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Cummings, 84, of the Nottingham, formerly of Tully, passed away Monday. Doris was a longtime resident of Tully and later of Port St. Lucie, Florida. She loved and gave freely of herself to her community and touched the lives of many. She retired as a dental hygienist with the Onondaga County Dept. of Health and was known as the TOOTH FAIRY by many in the local schools. Her husband Fay L. Cummings died in 1998. Doris was a member of the Tully United Community Church, as well as a deacon at the First Congregational Church in Port Saint Lucie, Florida. She served many years as a Republican Committee Woman, was a member of the Tully Order of the Eastern Star, and volunteered in the Salvation Army Soup Kitchen and area hospitals while living in Florida. A native of Oneida, she had resided in Fulton most of her life. She was a member of All Saints Episcopal Church and the Church Guild; Fulton TOPS Club; she enjoyed square dancing, gardening and golfing.
