He was born in Oswego and resided most of his life in New York City. He managed several New York City hotels. Mr. Barillo served during World War II and was wounded in France. He was the son of the late Vincenzo and Angelina Barillo and was predeceased by two sisters, Grace King and Frances Brancato, and three brothers: James, John and Michael Barillo. Mr. Barillo is survived by his wife, Josephine Barillo of NYC; one brother, Joseph Barillo of Oswego; two sisters, Josephine Barillo of Oswego and Rose (Thomas) Battista of Oswego; several nieces and nephews. He started General Business Services in Florida. He was an antique dealer and a member of Rotary and St. John's Episcopal Church in Marcellus. He was a sailor of Comet Class boats and was a former coach of the Cornell sailing team. He was predeceased by his wife Marilyn. Roach, 79, of Syracuse, died peacefully at home on Friday, March 4, 2005, after a short illness. Born in Oxford, NY, on February 6, 1926, he was the son of Elizabeth and Harry Roach. On February 17, 1951, he married Dorothy A. Ken-yon of Philadelphia, PA, and celebrated 54 years of marriage this year. He was predeceased by his sisters, Peggy Roach Chamberlain and Pauline Roach Dyksterhouse. Dick was a Navy veteran of World War II, serving with the Seabees in the Philippines, Marshall Islands and Japan. He joined Barnes & Cone in 1953, starting as a forklift driver, retiring in 1988 as an owner with his friend and partner Earl Zender. Dick served as president of the New York State Concrete Masonry Assoc. During his retirement, he spent many busy, happy hours at the family "farm" in German, NY, where he mowed acres of lawn on his tractor, creating paths in fields for wildlife. He was a communicant of Our Lady of Lourdes Church in the Valley and a member of Bellevue Country Club's 18-hole golf league and Saturday morning round table. He served the last 14 years as a volunteer for the Cathedral Breakfast Program for homeless men. Surviving are his wife, Dorothy; a son and daughter-in-law, Rick and Randi Roach; a daughter and son-in-law, Kathleen Roach Byrne and Jim Byrne. Dick was very proud of his family and dedicated much of his time to his seven grandchildren: Katie, Danny and Kelly Roach, and Michael, Maggie, Molly and Libby Byrne. Sister was born in South River, NJ, to the late Roman and Mary Oehl Smith and named Marion. She entered the Sisters of St. Francis on February 2, 1931, and professed Final Vows on August 28, 1937. Sister was a teacher for many years in New York, New Jersey and Ohio. In 1988, Sister retired to St. Elizabeth Hospital Convent in Utica and served as volunteer in the hospital until recently.
