March 8, 2005 Ralph J. Balducci, Sr., 87, of 825 Kimry Moor, Fayetteville, died Tuesday, at Crouse Hospital, Syracuse, following an extended illness. He was born on July 25, 1917 in Canastota, the son of Ralph and Arsilia Salvetti Balducci. Ralph was a 1934 graduateof Canastota High School, later graduating from Syracuse University and Harvard Law School. He lived in Canastota most of his life, living in Manlius and Fayetteville for the last 35 years. He was a partner in the law firm of Love & Balducci in Syracuse, retiring in 2004. Ralph was a World War II veteran, serving as a cryptographer in the U.S. Army Signal Corps, stationed in Manila. He had been a member of several area service clubs, the American Bar Association, the Syracuse University and Harvard Alumni Associations and the American Legion Archie VanPatten Post #141 in Manlius. Ralph was an avid golfer. He married Ellen DeCapua on November 20, 1948, in Canastota. Ellen died in April of 1997. Survivors: A daughter, Pamela A. Balducci of Sedona, AZ; one son, Ralph J. Balducci, Jr. of Palermo, NY; a grandson, Alex J. Balducci of Palermo, NY; two sisters, Theresa Patane and Anne Gelose of Canastota; several nieces, nephews and cousins. He attended St.John's Catholic School in Rensselaer, NY from kindergarten through 12th grade. He was a graduate of Ithaca College with a BS degree in accounting and was elected Sr. Class President. He served in the US Army Reserves for 6 years. David spent over 30 years in the accounting profession as a CPA, beginning his career with Ernst and Ernst, an international firm with an office in Syracuse NY, and retiring from Bowen, Lyons, Pine Assoc. CPA's in Auburn, NY, where he was a principal and managing partner for many years. He then was owner of Rent a Wreck Car Rental's and York Self Storage, in Auburn. David is survived by his wife of 37 years, Susan; and his only son, David Harper Lyons of Syracuse; two brothers, Donald and Robert (Ann) Lyons of Rensselaer; a niece, nephew, several cousins, uncles, and aunts. Born in Scranton, Pennsylvania, he was married to the late Helen Shell for 57 years. He worked as awelder for Carrier Corporation (now United Technologies) for over 30 years. He was a communicant of St. Charles Borromeo Church, and after his retirement was active in its senior citizens group. For several years he worked as a crossing guard for St. Charles School. After moving to West Lafayette, IN in 2003, he joined the Church of the Blessed Sacrament there. Survivors: a daughter, Linda S. He was a life resident of Syracuse. Walter was retired from True Enterprise after many years. He also was a member of the NRA and an Army WWII veteran in which he was wounded in France and received the Purple Heart followed by an honorable discharge. Worden, 77, of Cicero, passed away March 3, 2005. He retired from Empire Blue Cross Insurance Co. in Syracuse. He owned and operated Worden Employment Agency for many years. He was also a handwriting expert who worked for many local businesses. He was a communicant of Sacred Heart Church in Cicero. He founded the Hunt Club of Baldwinsville. Survivors include his wife Marie; three daughters, Melissa Jordan of Pennsylvania, Mary Louie of California, and Dina Fyffe of Syracuse; six stepchildren, Teresa Pickard, Mary Quinn and Susan Patterson, all of Cicero, David Barnes, Michael Barnes, and Jeffrey Barnes, all of Syracuse; 18 grandchildren and one great-granddaughter. Services: A memorial Mass will be held Saturday at 9:30 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church, Cicero. Burial will be in North Syracuse Cemetery. Harter Funeral Home, Brewerton, is in charge of arrangements. She and her husband, Clyde were owners of Wratten's Feed Store in Phoenix until the early 1970's. Stephane was a communicate of St. Stephen'sChurch, Phoenix and a member of St. Nicholas Ukrainian Church, Rome and the Schroeppel Historical Society, Phoenix. She was predeceased by her husband, Clyde S. Wratten in 1988; brothers, Frank and Joseph Witka. Surviving are three nieces, Marcia Witka Alexander of Athens, TN; Susan Witka of San Francisco, CA and Carole Witka of Denver, CO; two sisters-in-law, Loretta Witka of Athens, TN and Doria Witka of Rome, NY; and a brother-in-law, Milton Wratten of Deansboro.
