Donnie was born in Canastota and was a life-resident of Chittenango. Early, Jane March 10, 2005 Jane Early, 72, of Holmes Beach, FL, passed away Thursday at Hospice House of Sun City Center, FL. "Debby" Edwards, 51, of Fulton, passed away Thursday, March 10, 2005 at Lee Memorial Hospital, Fulton. She was born in Syracuse and graduated from G. Ray Bodley High School, Fulton in 1972. Since 1987, Debby was em-ployed by Huhtamaki where she worked various jobs including Quality Technician. She also attended Cayuga Community College for classes to enhance her position within the Quality Department. She was previously employed by Gene's Air Conditioning and KBC Discount Store. Debby was a member of the B.P.O.E. Lodge #830, Fulton Moose Lodge #1280, Polish Home of Fulton, the Recreation Club and a life member of V.F.W. Post 569 Ladies Auxiliary. Debby was also a committee person with the C.N.Y. Ronald McDonald House. Haberer Gilbert, 78, of North Syracuse, was the daughter of Carol and Henry Haberer who owned Haberer's Super Market. She graduated in 1945 from North Syracuse High School, attended Powellson Business Institute and was a secretary before becoming a full-time Mom. Her husband, Bill died in 1993. Surviving are her children, Kathy (Scott) Waite of Lewis Center, OH, Sue (Chuck) Paninski of North Syracuse, Lori Pallone of North Syracuse, Marylou Gilbert of Cortland and Bill Gilbert, III of Canastota; and eight grandchildren. Hearns, Thomas March 10, 2005 Thomas Hearns, 52, of 108 Clymer Street, died Thursday. Tom retired as a Corrections Officer having served 23 years. Tom is survived by his wife, Sandra Petrucelli Hearns of Auburn; three daughters, Brenda Hearns of Canastota, Patricia Smith (Michael) of Throop, Keeley Hearns of Chicago; his parents, Edward and Phyllis Tutton Hearns of Auburn; a brother, Michael Hearns (Maureen) of Auburn; two sisters, Nancy Anderson (James) of Oregon, Linda Martinez (Vince) of Jordan; four grandchildren. Mackin, formerly of 159 Willow Place, Sherrill, New York, died peacefully at Crouse Hospital in Syracuse on March 10, 2005, where he had been a recent patient. Born in Boston, Mr. Mackin moved to Oneida as a young man where he met his belovedwife of 60 years, Joyce Virginia Ratnour. Following Mrs. Mackin's death in 1997, Bill continued to reside in the family home in Sherrill until moving to The Nottingham in Jamesville in 2002. Bill was employed with the Prudential Insurance Company for nearly 40 years. In 1968, he was elected as supervisor of the Town of Vernon, a position he held for six elected terms until retiring in 1979. Throughout his life, he was very active in the civic affairs of the City of Sherrill, and was dedicated to serving the community he loved. Among his many achievements, he served as a Sherrill City Commissioner, president of the Silver City Club, and founder of some of the city's sports leagues for children. He was the recipient of the American Legion's Distinguished Citizen Award, an Honorary Rotarian, and also a member of many local charitable boards and clubs. He was a communicant of St. Helena's Church for nearly 60 years, and past president of its Holy Name Society. He was a very friendly, conscientious and caring person, who was blessed to have many friends of all ages and from all walks of life. His favorite "hobby" was helping and enjoying the company of other people. He is survived by his two sons, John (Donna), a retired U.S. Navy Captain, living in Kissimmee, Florida, and James, an attorney who practices with the Syracuse law firm of Bond, Schoeneck & King, and lives in Manlius, New York; three grandchildren, John, Jill and Jeff; and nine great-grandchildren. Published in the Syracuse Post Standard on 3/12/2005. Malar, Pawlo March 9, 2005 Pawlo Malar, Syracuse University professor emeritus and author of several books, died Wednesday at age 95. He lived in Camillus. Born in Myrhorod, Ukraine he graduated from Kharkiv University. He came to America after World War II and began acareer as a teacher, author and journalist. He wrote several novels, short stories and magazine articles. He also wrote numerous articles about the history of Ukraine and the evolution of words (Etymology). He also wrote a handbook for schools to teach Ukrainian language. His works are part of the curriculum in Ukrainian universities. To many, he was known for his work at Lesia Ukrainka, where he taught for 20 years. He also was on the council overseeing teaching standards at Ukrainian schools in New York. He was an active member of St. Luke's Ukrainian Orthodox Church where he spearheaded building the church in Warners. He received numerous awards for his accomplishments in the Ukrainian community. Survivors: His wife, Myroslawa; two children, Andrew (Judy) Malar and Nadia (Robert) Andrews, both of Camillus; three grandchildren, Stephen Malar, John (Ann Marie) Andrews and Philip Andrews; three great-grandchildren, Darianne, Anthony and Jonathan Andrews. March 6, 2005 Ethel Dorothy McKenna, 79, a retired production supervisor for Instruments for Cardiac Research, died Sunday, March 6, 2005 at Munroe Regional Hospital in Ocala, FL. A longtime resident of Camillus, NY, she moved to Ocala, FL in 1986. She was a former member of the First Methodist Church in Camillus. She was a lifetime member of the WIBC and was an active bowler in various leagues. Survivors: include her husband, Clarence McKenna, Ocala, FL; sons, John McKenna, San Rafael, CA, James McKenna, Camillus, NY; daughter, Kathleen McIndoo, Watervliet, NY; a sister, Florence Snell, Silver Springs, FL; and four grandchildren. She was born November 8, 1933, in Brattleboro, VT, daughter of Charles and Marjorie Brooks Wade. She lived in Putney, VT, moving to Pulaski in 1951. She was married to Henry J. Newcomb October 26, 1951. He died May 13, 2004. She was employed by the Pulaski Elementary School in the cafeteria for 15 years, retiring in 1985. She also sold strawberries at her home for many years. She was also an avid bowler for many years. Surviving are one daughter, Debra Goodnough, Sandy Creek; four sons, Ronald H. and Randall J., both of Pulaski, Richard D. of Hickory, NC, and Robert L. of Moorsville, NC; two sisters, Lillian Hill of Putney, VT, and Winnie Lawrence of Birnie, TX; three brothers, Carroll Wade, Sandy Pond, Lawrence Wade of Barre, VT, and Walter Wade, Rutland, VT; 14 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. March 9, 2005 Beverly Jane Rudy, 73, passed away after an illness at the home of her daughter and son-in-law, Patricia and Richard Leone in Jamesville. Shewas a bookkeeper and had formerly worked at Royal Electric and at the County Board of Elections after her retirement. She is predeceased by her parents, Edward and Laura Volz Ehrlich; and her son, Edward Rudy. She was a member of St. Stephen Lutheran Church and enjoyed Bingo, cards, her family and her many friends. Wroblewski Sr., 86, of 206 Wright Ave., Mattydale, died Thursday at the Sunnyside Nursing Home in East Syracuse. Born in Syracuse, he was a life resident of the Syracuse and Mattydale areas. He was employed by Sal's Masonry for many years, retiring from Laborers Local #333 in Syracuse. He was a member of St. Margarets Church in Mattydale. Mr. Wroblewski was a U.S. Army veteran of WWII, serving with the Quartermaster Corps in five overseas campaigns including the Battle of the Bulge. He was a member of the General Pulaski American Legion Post and the Baldwinsville Loyal Order of the Moose. He was predeceased by his wife of 61 years, Virginia L. "June" Madrid Wroblewski, who died November 22, 2004. Surviving are three sons, Louis W. "Topper" (Kathie) and Anthony T. "Tony" Jr. (Kathy), both of Chittenango, and Michael A. of Palm Springs, CA; a sister, Maryanne Richards of Syracuse; four grandchildren, T.J., Tracie, Tony and Jeremy; five great-grandchildren, Taylor, Marti, Jordan, Tristen and Aiden; and several nieces and nephews.
