children, one sister, 24 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren. Services

May 12, 2005 Mrs. Ollie D. Brantley, 78, of 100 E. Warrington Rd., went home
to be with the Lord, Thursday, surrounded by her family and loved ones. She
was a member of Power and Deliverance Christian Center. She was the owner and
op-erator of the Touch of Spirit Restaurant, hosted the Family Matters radio
program on WSIV and was the first African American woman to have a fashion
show televised in Syracuse. She leaves to cherish her memory her husband of 60
years, Claborn; seven daughters, Dorothy Bush, Dora Kearse and Alicia Brantley
of Syracuse, Frances Samples (John) and Evangelist Kathie Williams (Cedric) of
Fayetteville, GA, Yvonne Taveras (Jose) of Schenectady, NY and Priestess
Sheila Brown (Charles) of Gainesville, GA; seven sons, Rev. Cleveland (Jean)
of Charlotte, NC, Rev. Jesse Sr. (Hattie) of Clay, NY, Rev. Erle (Vertell),
Lincoln, Dealton (Chantel), Alfonzo and Rev. Paul (Tonya) all of Syracuse;
three sisters, Betty Grady, Pearl Griffin and Sadie Breland of Syracuse; five
brothers, Willie Perry of Brunswick, GA, Horace Perry of Syracuse, Freddie
Griffin of Miami, FL, Erlie Griffin of Norristown, PA and Milton Griffin of

Kinney Dodge January 11, 2005 Elizabeth Kinney Dodge, 91, formerly of Otisco
and East Syracuse, New York, passed away in Pinellas Park, Florida, on January
11, 2005. She was born June 10, 1913, in Tully, New York, a daughter of the
late William J. and Julia Kelly Davern. In 1972she moved from East Syracuse,
New York, to Florida. Elizabeth will be sadly missed by her friends and
family. Those wishing to remember her may consider memorials to a hospice of
their choice. Survivors include her six daughters, Patricia Badger, Hope
Mills, N.C., Jean Alley, Stone Mountain, Ga., Margaret Kaye, Largo, Fla.,

Janet Congdon, Kirkville, N.Y.; one son, Charles (Ann) Dodge, Syracuse, N.Y.;

was predeceased by her first husband, Albert J. Kinney, her second husband,
Kenneth W. Dodge, and her sons, John E. Kinney and Richard Dodge. A Mass of

Patrick's Catholic Church, Otisco, N.Y. (Rte. 80) with the Rev. James Carey as

retired from the Liverpool Central School District. She was a member of both
the Eastern Star and the Liverpool First United Methodist Church. Her
hus-band, Arlie W. Duerr died in 1994. She is survived by her sons, Timothy H.
of Central Square and Ronald W. Duerr of Jacksonville, FL; four grandchildren;

May 15, 2005 Ruth C. Ferguson, 73, of State Route 104, Oswego, NY, died
Sunday, May 15, 2005, at Seneca Hill Manor, Oswego, NY. Ruth was born December
3, 1931, in Oswego, NY, the daughter of the late Ward and Erma Schouten Lyons.
She was a resident of Oswego for most of her life. She had been employed by
the State University at Oswego as an accountant, retiring in 1995. She is
survived by her companion, John Morrell of Oswego, NY; a son, Ward Wilmot of
Niagara Falls, NY; a brother, Phil J. Lyons of Auburn, NY; two grandchildren,
Haylei and Thomas Wilmot; two sisters, Madeline (Frank) Ormsby of Volney, NY,
Carol (Donald) Chapman of DeRuyter, NY. She was predeceased by her husband,
Edward Ferguson; a brother, Ward Lyons; and two sisters, Winona Lane and
Janice Brown. Family and friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. on Friday, May 20,

May 15, 2005 Harlow G. "Jerry" Flanagan, 87, of Rochester, formerly a resident
of Central Square for over 40 years, died Sunday. Survived by his loving and
devoted wife of 54 years, Edna; children, Terrence (Karen) Flanagan of Davis,
IL, and Brian (Karen) Flanagan of Rochester, NY; grandchildren, Michael,
Jessica, Steven, Shea and Maureen. Born in Rome, NY, Jerry was a veteran of
WWII and worked in the wholesale candy industry for most of his career. He was
active for many years in St. Agnes Church, Brewerton, NY. He will be missed
for his positive attitude, good humor and love of family. His family will
receive friends on Wednesday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Richard H. Keenan Funeral

May 14, 2005 Raouf Iskander, of DeWitt, passed away May 14, 2005, at St.
Joseph's Hospital in Syracuse, New York. A native of Cairo, Egypt, Mr.
Iskander was a professor of French literature at Cairo University. He has
resided here in Central New York for the last 15 years, where he was a
communicant of Holy Cross Church. He is survived by a daughter and son-in-law,
Drs. Hoda and Nasri Ghaly of DeWitt; a son, Farid R. Farid of Cairo, Egypt;
two brothers, Fekri of Italy and Shafik of Florida; a sister, Ziza Shaker of

May 15, 2005 Born Modesto J., affectionately known as Morris J. "Mo" Lupia,

Nevaldine May 13, 2005 Gertrude Heisler Nevaldine, 92, of Syracuse, died
Friday in the James Square Rehabilitation Facility. She retired from General
Electric after many years of employment. She enjoyed her pets, knitting,
reading and classical music. The family wishes to thank the staff at James
Square for their care and kindness. She was the widow of Michael Nevaldine who
died in 1992. She is survived by two daughters, Barbara and Paula Nevaldine,
both of Syracuse; her friend and cousin, Marion Brown; and several other

Hospital. She was employed as a bookkeeper for Fair Housing Council. She was
predeceased by her husband, Adrian O'Hara, who died in 1986. Surviving are her
daughter, Adrianne (Robert) Barrett; her grandson, Bryan Sacco; her sister,
June Morriss; and a nephew, Donald Thompson. Services will be held Wednesday

May 12, 2005 M. Nancy Holmes Paulder, 86, died Thursday, May 12, 2005. A life
resident of the Syracuse area, she was a world traveler, visiting many
destinations including Jerusalem, Europe and Mexico. A graduate of Syracuse
University, she wasan elementary school teacher and retired in 1983 as an
accountant for the Syracuse Housing Authority. She was a member of the
Lafayette Senior Citizens Group and the Retired Teachers' Association. She was
predeceased by her husband, Raymond H. Paulder, in 1978; they had been married
since January 1939. She was also predeceased by her parents, Willard and
Margaret (Segovis) Holmes, and twin baby girls, Judith Ann and June Ellen in
1942. Surviving are two daughters, Jo-Anne Scammell of E. Syracuse and Patti
Rae of Mountainview, CA; two sons, Richard of Jonesboro, GA, and Raymond H.
Paulder Jr. of Friendswood, TX; three sisters: Lillian Sauer of Washington
state, Betty Lou Roderick of Virginia Beach and Roberta Farrington of Sandy
Creek; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Funeral

May 15, 2005 Arthur J. Raynore, 94, of 204 E. Hickory Street, Canastota, died
Sunday at his home following a lengthy illness. He was born on May 13, 1911 in
Oneida, the son of Charles and Edith Coe Raynore. Art had worked for Oneida
Limited in Sherrill, foreight years. He and his wife owned and operated the
Arthur J. Raynore Real Estate Agency in Canastota for 40 years, retiring in
1984. Art married Maude Carney in 1940; she died in 1984. He was predeceased
by two brothers, Glenn Raynore and Francis Raynore; and three sisters, Grace
Carpenter, Marguerite Tooke and Beulah Henderson. Survivors: A sister,
Beatrice Mitchell of Canastota; several nieces and nephews. Services: 11 a.m.

home. She was born in Bozeman, Montana, and was a graduate of the Crane School
of Music at Potsdam College. She was a music teacher in both public and
private schools and taught piano in the home for 30 years. She is survived by
her husband of 45 years, Neal A. Schantz; sons, LTC Blair A. Schantz,
stationed with the Army in Germany, Major Paul A. Schantz, stationed with the
Air Force at Scott AFB, IL; daughter, LT Diane A. Inch, stationed with the PHS
in Sunbury, PA; and eight grandchildren. Services will be Friday, May 20,

Stefanko, Mary M.
May 12, 2005 Mary M. Stefanko passed away peacefully of congestive heart
failure at the age of 92. Born in Oneida, NY to Candido and Theresa Penna, one
of four sets of twins. Formerly of Syracuse, NY, she and her husband, George
moved to Santa Ynez in 1986. In 1998, after the death of her husband, she
moved to Encino Royale in Goleta. Mary was a dynamic woman who never tired of
learning. She owned and operated many businesses and was also into real
estate. In her "spare time" she loved to paint, read, garden, bowl and play
golf (a hole in one at Encino Royale). She will be greatly missed by family
and friends. A quote from one of her grandchildren, "I'm fortunate that Nana's
blood runs in my children's veins." That says it all. She is survived by her
daughters, Margaret Logano, Syracuse, Georgiann Davirro, Santa Barbara, CA;
five grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren;
and a twin brother, Dominick, Vernon, NY. The family would like to thank
Sharon Nelson and Robin Hare (S B Med Center) whom Mary referred to as her
guardian angels. Memorial donations may be made to Visiting Nurses and Hospice
Care, 222 E. Canon Perdido S.B, CA 93101, or Sarah House, 2612 Modoc Rd. S.B.,
CA 93105, who showered her with an abundance of love, care and compassion.

Wilson, Thomas S.
May 16, 2005 Thomas S. "Space" Wilson, 59, of Albany, died Monday, May 16,
2005, at home. Born and educated in Syracuse, he was the son of the late
Edward J. and Anastasia Stasink. Mr. Wilson was a graduate of Nottingham High
School in Syracuse and was an Army veteran. He worked for the former Penn
Central and Conrail Railroads in Syracuse. In 1987, he moved to Albany and
worked for CSX in Selkirk, retiring in 2003. Mr. Wilson was a member of the
American Legion, Bucci-McTighe Post, Retired Public Employees Assoc., Inc.,
AARP, and the Syracuse Pastime Athletic Club. Husband of the late Joan
Lindstrom Wilson; brother of Suellen (David) Callahan of Camillus, NY; uncle
of Sean, Anastasia, Brendan, Joseph and Michael Callahan and Jennifer
Lindstrom; great-uncle of Jack Corbett Callahan, Harry and Ella Wilson
Callahan. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 10 a.m. in the Daniel
Keenan Funeral Home, 490 Delaware Ave., Albany. Relatives and friends are
invited and may call prior to the service from 9:30 a.m. Interment will follow
the service in the Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery,

Winkler, Magdaline J.   
May 15, 2005 Magdaline J. Winkler, 67, of Skaneateles, died Sunday after a
long and courageous battle with breast cancer. A model patient to other
survivors, a 12 years cancer survivor, and an inspiration to all that knew and
loved her. She was born in the Bronx,and was employed by the Marcellus Central
School District as a teachers aide. She was a communicant of St. Alphonsus
Church in Auburn. She was predeceased by her husband, Vincent on 2002. She is
survived by two daughters, Madeline (Shawn) Raymond of Moravia and Veronica
(Robert) Hill of Auburn; two sons, Frederick Sheen of Alaska and Matthew
(Stacy) Winkler of Skaneateles; eight grandchildren; and several beloved
animals. Services will be 9 a.m. Thursday at Norris Funeral Home and 10 a.m.
in St. Alphonsus Church, Auburn. Burial will be in St. Francis Xavier
Cemetery, Marcellus. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at
the funeral home, 33 North St., Marcellus. Contributions may be made to the
