Baker, 92, formerly of Manlius, passed away Thursday in Gambrills, Maryland. He was born in Spring Garden, PA, and attended Colgate University. He was an ordained pastor for 70 years, serving part of that time at Manlius First Baptist Church and Rome First Baptist Church, retiring in 1979. After his retirement he was the interim minister for Baptist churches throughout the state and served as the executive minister for Baptist conventions for New York State. He was a member of Manlius Chamber of Commerce and began the Senior Citizens group in the village of Manlius. He was predeceased by his first wife, Lucy Baker, in 1993. Survivors: his wife, Wanda of Gambrills, MD; a daughter, Patricia (Robert) Parker of Tempe, AZ; four granddaughters: Terry, JoAnne, Patti and Eileen; and eight great-grandchildren. Benedict, Robert A. May 20, 2005 Robert A. Benedict, 63, of Liverpool, died Friday at Crouse Hospital after a courageous battle with cancer. Bob was a well-known professional musician/disc jockey in the Central NY area for the last 25 years. He was the owner/operator of Soundtrack Music and also worked in sales management, Boy Scout administration, and served as an officer in the United States Army. Bob's greatest passions were his family and his music. His sense of humor, patience and positive disposition were admired by all who knew him. He was predeceased by his wife Carol in 1993. Brown, Brandie May 14, 2005 Brandie Brown, 13, of 600 Highland Ave., passed away Saturday, May 14. She was born in Queens, NY, and had made Syracuse, NY, her home. Brandie Brown was a very sweet girl who loved to dance and tag along with her older brother and sister. She loved it when her siblings would take her to play basketball and to the movies, and had future hopes as she grew up to become a fashion designer. Brandie also loved to write poetry. She was bubbly and helpful to her mother at all times. Brandie was a 7th-grader at Lincoln Middle School in Syracuse and will be missed greatly by her friends and classmates. Her favorite cousin, with whom she spent many precious weekends, is Autumn Battle who, along with her entire family, will miss these two children forever. Brian Brown was a very distinguished, gentle person, who loved animals, football, and had future hopes as he grew up to become a preacher. Gene retired in 1985 as an electrician from Crouse Hinds after 23 years of service andretired as chief petty officer after 20 years in the U.S. Navy. "Judy" May 19, 2005 Julia C. "Judy" Carhart, 70, of Smith Rd., Hamilton, passed away Thursday, May 19, 2005, at Community Memorial Hospital, Hamilton. Born January 18, 1935, in Minoa, NY, she was a daughter of Everett and Winifred Dennison Carney and was a graduate of Minoa High School. On November 27, 1954, Judy was united in marriage to Eugene L. Carhart in Minoa. They made their home and began farming together in Pompey, NY, from 1955 until 1967, when they moved to Hamilton. Mr. Carhart predeceased her on May 18, 1997. Mrs. Carhart was a partner in the family's White Eagle Farms. She was also a teacher's aide at Hamilton Central School for many years until her retirement. Judy was a full-time mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who enjoyed and lived for her family and friends and was a wonderful cook. Mrs. Carhart was a communicant of St. Mary's Church in Hamilton and a member of the Altar and Rosary Society. Very active in community affairs, Judy was a member of the Community Memorial Hospital Auxiliary, the FFA Advisory Board and volunteered at Worn Again. She was a member of the Log Cabin Quilters and attended Community Wellness Center. He always had time for his family and friends and enjoyed life to the fullest. Seago, Jesse Leon May 16, 2005 Jesse Leon Seago passed away at the age of 73 on May 16, 2005, in Atlanta, GA. He was raised in Iuka, MS, and attended school there, graduating from Iuka High School. He then joined the U.S. Air Force and served during the Korean War. Later he served with the 174th Air National Guard (the "Boys from Syracuse") as an air technician, eventually retiring from military service after 35 years. He resided in Manlius, NY, for 26 years, relocating to Alpharetta, GA, in later years. During his years in Manlius, he also served as an EMT with the Manlius Ambulance Corps. He is survived by his wife, Patricia Manton Seago; a son, Jesse (Annette) Seago of Alpharetta; two daughters, Catherine Seago of Lexinton, KY, and Amy (Kevin) Thivierge of Bennington, VT; four grandchildren: Benjamin Thivierge, Elizabeth Seago, Zachary Seago and Abaigeal Thivierge; three sisters: Loraine Gist of Iuka, MS; Edith Gullick of Schriver, LA; and Jean Komorwski of Green Bay, WI; his sister-in-law, Audell Seago; and several nieces and nephews. Vedder went home to his Creator May 19, surrounded by his family. Born April 2, 1930 to Alice Winchell and A. Stanley Vedder, he was a teacher and a coach for six decades. He graduated high school at Staunton Military Academy (VA) 1949,where he captained the football, basketball and baseball teams, earning All-State honors in basketball. He graduated from Colgate University BS 1953, where he started for three years as a cornerback, linebacker and center. He received his MBA from Cortland State. He helped establish Fayetteville Little League. He coached football, baseball and track at Manlius Military Academy and coached football, basketball and lacrosse at Fayetteville-Manlius School, retiring in 1984. At F-M he was chairman of the history department and Section 3 football chairman. He coached football and lacrosse at Colgate University and coached football at Hamilton College and SUNY Morrisville. He was co-founder and president of the CNY Chapter of the National Football Foundation. He was the first recipient of the Outstanding Contributor to Amateur Football NYS by U.S. Football Association. He served two tours of active duty (Japan and Germany) in the U.S. Air Force. He co-authored books on the history of Christ Church (Manlius) and the history of Trinity Church (Fayetteville). He was predeceased by his parents; and a brother, Allison.
