Mauro, 88, died peacefully Friday, May 27, 2005, at Loretto's Fahey residence of complications from Parkinson's disease. He was a lifelong resident of Syracuse's north side before moving to Greenpoint Senior LivingCommunity in 1997. Dom was a 1934 graduate of North High School, where he played football and basketball and was voted "Best Male Athlete" of his senior class. Soon after graduation, he went to work in the stockroom at Gaylord Brothers, Inc., where he retired in 1981 as executive vice president. He also took evening classes in accounting and prepared tax returns, many for the Italian-speaking residents of his neighborhood. He was a member of the Holy Name Society at Our Lady of Pompei Church, where older parishioners will remember him for his many years of service as an usher. Dominic was blessed with a loving wife, Dorothy (Santola), whom he cared for during her long illness until her death in 1993, and a devoted family and many lifelong friends. He was fortunate to have received excellent professional and personalized care while living at Greenpoint and Loretta Fahey, as well as during previous rehabilitation stays at Crouse Hospital, St. Camillus and James Square, and from his doctors, nurses and other healthcare providers. His family is very grateful to all those people who continually treated him with special kindness and affection. During her nursing career, she worked as a pediatric and OB/GYN nurse at Crouse Irving Hospital, in New York City and for various volunteer organizations. McIntyre, Meixell Meixell McIntyre May 28, 2005 Known for her loving, selfless and vibrant spirit, Katherine, 53, passed away at home early Saturday morning, surrounded by family and friends. The child of a Navy father, she moved frequently with her family, but she grew up and lived prin-cipally in Maine, where she graduated from University of Maine-Orono with a degree in home economics education. Katherine was an active member of South Parish Congregational (UCC) Church in Augusta, ME, worked as a senior rates analyst for Central Maine Power Company, and served as board president of the Family Violence Project. She spent the last four years as a full-time wife, stepmother and volunteer in Liverpool, NY, where she also attended Christ the King Church. Katherine was passionate about music, and played piano and sang in church choirs since childhood. She was a soloist at dozens of weddings and other occasions and sang with the Syracuse Chorale and the Chorale's Chamber Singers. She was an accomplished sailor, needleworker and cook. She and her husband enjoyed classic cars and were members of three car clubs. Katherine was predeceased by her first husband, Andrew Kinney, and her second husband, Leigh Alexander. He was born March 7, 1918, in Conche, Veneto, Italy, to the late Angelo and Maria Ferro Nalin, and was the youngest son of their 13 children. Ottorino married Gabriella Modena on September 11, 1948. They recently celebrated their 56th wedding anniversary. Ottorino immigrated to the United States with his family in 1957, lived in Chicago, Illinois, and became a U.S. citizen in 1962. He worked for 21 years as an electrical engineer for the General Electric Company in Syracuse, NY, and retired in 1985. In 2002, Ottorino and Gabriella moved to Indianapolis and joined the parish of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church in Carmel, Indiana. He was a World War II Naval veteran. He started his career with International Harvester, then began a career as a certified CLU agent with Mass Mutual. He was a past president of the Oneida Lake Association, and also served on the board of directors. He was a communicant of St. Charles Borromeo Church and served as head usher there for many years. Neyhart, Mary Jane May 26, 2005 Mary Jane "Jane" Neyhart, 86, of North Myrtle Beach, SC, died Thursday, May 26, 2005, at Lakes at Litchfield Retirement Home, Pawleys Island, SC. Jane was born in Hemlock, IN, November 3, 1918, and was the daughter of Clyde and Ethel Tracy. She was a graduate of Ball State University and taught first grade and nursery school over a 35-year career. She was the director of the DeWitt Community Nursery School in Syracuse, NY, until she retired to North Myrtle Beach in 1979. She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church of North Myrtle Beach. Jane was predeceased by her husband of 50 years, Floyd "Buck" Neyhart, and an infant grandson, Jonathan Neyhart Drury. Jane is survived by her daughters, Susan Kinchy of Milan, PA; Deborah Yannascoli of Manlius, NY; and Tracy Neyhart of Elliston, VA; and their children: Abbey and Jonah Kinchy, Matthew and Sarah Yannascoli. Ochs, Annah Verbeck May 22, 2005 Annah Verbeck Ochs passed away at her home in Memphis, Tennessee on Sunday, May 22, 2005. She is survived by her three sons, Howell M. Estes III, Michael S. Estes and Charles D. Estes; three daughters-in-law, Jordana, Dafri and Deborah; ten grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren, many of whom had the wonderful experience of being with her during her final days. She also had many longtime friends in Memphis, too numerous to mention, all of whom were such an important part of her life. Nan was born in Syracuse, New York to Guido Verbeck and Muriel Halcomb on March 29, 1920 where she was the youngest of four children. Her early years were spent in the Manlius-Cazenovia-Syracuse area where she made many friends with whom she had lifelong contact. She was married for 35 years to Howell M. Estes, Jr. an officer in the US military with whom she had three sons. She later married Lou Ochs, Jr. who died in November 2000. Nan lived in Memphis for 30 years where she enjoyed the warmth and hospitality of its residents. She was a businesswoman who owned two framing stores, a supporter of numerous community activities and an active member of the Calvary Episcopal Church. Nan will always be remembered for her strong sense of family and friends. Nothing was more important to her. A celebration of Nan's life was held at Calvary Episcopal Church on Friday, May 27, 2005 at 10 a.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that a donation to the American Heart Association be made in Nan's name. Her family would like to recognize Dr. David Iansmith and Dr. David Wright, the medical staffs at Baptist East Memorial Hospital and Trinity Hospice and her caregivers for their untiring support of Nan when she needed it the most. Rosivach, 79, of Syracuse, died on Friday at the Jewish Home of CNY. He was born in West New York, New Jersey, and moved to Syracuse in 1926. He was a veteran of the Navy during WWII, serving on the USS Wisconsin with the 3rdFleet. He retired in 1989 as the loss control manager after 35 years with General Accident Insurance Co. Mr. Rosivach was a communicant of Transfiguration Church, a member and past president of the Holy Name Society, member of the choir and one of the original lectors at the church. He was a member of the American Legion Pulaski Post #1650. He is predeceased by his sister, Marion Murphy. He is survived by his wife, Mary Serwatka Rosivach; a son, Richard Rosivach of Syracuse; a daughter, Caroline Balduzzi of Syracuse; two brothers, William Rosivach of Syracuse and Edward Rosivach of Cazenovia; three grandchildren: Robert Lopez, Nicole Balduzzi and Anthony Balduzzi Jr.; several nieces and nephews. Brown Vollmer, 81, of East Syracuse, died Monday at Loretto. Mrs. Vollmer was born in Syracuse and had resided in East Syracuse most of her life. She retired as an LPN from Sunnyside Nursing Home.
