He was predeceased by his wife, Sarah Irene Bort, in 1987, and a son, Douglas Jay, in 1973. He retired from Crucible in 1986 after 48 years. He re-tired from the Town of VanBuren after 23 years. He also worked for the Baldwinsville Police Department and part time for the Onondaga County Sheriff Department. He is a veteran of WWII. He volunteered for Civil Defense. He is a member of the American Legion. In his spare time he raised Brittany Spaniels and cut wood. Survivors: his significant other, Leona Commane; three sons, Clarence Robert (Linda), Lee W. Mr. Kruth was born in Syracuse, N.Y. After graduating from Syracuse University, Mr. Kruth served in World War II with the Army 313th Combat Engineers in Italy. During his early career, he worked for Celanese Corp. in Cumberland, Md., where he was involved in the development of polymer-based products, work for which he was issued several patents. In his later years, Mr. Kruth joined Gibraltar Securities Co. of Florham Park, N.J., from where he retired in 1995 as a senior vice president. Mr. Kruth is survived by his wife of 60 years, Hilda; a daughter, Sandra; a son, Howard; and a grandchild, Rachel. Graveside services will be held 11 a.m. Friday at the Frumah Packard Cemetery. McAndrew, Carol A. May 27, 2005 Carol A. Bunnell McAndrew, 69, of Fayetteville, passed away at Crouse Hospital due to complications resulting from an allergic reaction to heparin. A lifelong resident of Fayetteville, she spent her winters in Indian Trail, NC. She graduated fromFayetteville High School and Crouse Irving School of Nursing. During her nursing career, she worked as a pediatric and OB/GYN nurse at Crouse Irving Hospital, in New York City and for various volunteer organizations. She also worked as a home health care nurse and was a preschool teacher's assistant at Believers' Chapel. She was a communicant of Immaculate Conception Church, Fayetteville, where she was a Eucharist minister and substitute Sunday school teacher. She was one of the first volunteers at Francis House and volunteered for F-M Meals on Wheels. She was a former member of the Fayetteville Fire Department, where she was an EMT. Her hobbies included ceramics, cross-stitching, crochet, organ, tennis, Bible study and travel. Her grandchildren were her greatest joy. Her husband, Donald A., died in 1994. Born in Syracuse, he graduated from Central Tech High School. He served in the 1209 U.S. Army Reserve. He was in the steel construction business for many years. He completed many well-known structures in the Central New York area, including the Carrier Dome. He recently donated the steel work for Immaculate Conception School, Fayetteville, and also the steel construction for the 911 Memorial in DeWitt. Survivors: a son, Dr. Barry P. Piccoli, 94, of Liverpool, formerly of Utica, passed away on Monday, May 30, 2005, in St. Joseph's Hospital. He was born on May 15, 1911, in Utica, a son of the late Bruno and Domenica Nicotera Piccola. On April 11, 1944, he was married to Angela Funicello in Utica until her death in 1999. Anthony was employed by the NY Central Railroad and the county of Oneida until his retirement. He was a WWII Army veteran. She was formerly of the Altmar and Pulaski area for 70 years, moving to Clifton, VA, in 2002. She married Elbert Saltsman on Oct. 12, 1942; he died on Nov. 17, 1990. She attended Cosmetology School in NYC. She was a member of St. John the Evangelist Church, Pulaski. Survived by one son, Vic Saltsman and his wife Lynn and two grandsons, Sage and Ryker Saltsman, of Clifton, VA.
