He retired as a truck driver for Nestle Co. in Fulton after 38 years of service, retiring in 1979. Mr. Barnes was an Army veteran of WWII. He was a member of the Hastings V.F.W. Post #8823 and also enjoyed hunting, trapping and gardening. Ken was predeceased by his wife Erma in 2002. Bowker, Rosemary Campagna Bowker August 26, 2005 Rosemary Campagna Bowker died peacefully at her home in Los Osos, CA, on August 26, 2005, supported by friends and family after a long struggle with cancer. A celebration of Rosemary's life will be held on Saturday, October 8, 2005, at 11 a.m. at Oran Community Church in Manlius, NY. Oran Church is located on Route 92 east of the town of Manlius at the corner of Oran-Delphi Road. A native of Pennsylvania, he resided in the Syracuse area for many years. He was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran of WWII and served in the First Marine Division as a scout and a sniper. He was a recipient of the Purple Heart. He was a member of the carpenters union and worked on various projects, including the Carrier Dome, the School of Forestry at SU and in the Syracuse School District. Mr. Buza enjoyed hunting and fishing and was an avid gardener and outdoorsman. He was known for his garlic and honey and was a member of the Beekeepers. He was predeceased by his parents, Joseph and Theresa Buza, and three brothers: Clifford, Edward and John Buza. Campbell, Everett "Spider" September 29, 2005 Everett "Spider" Campbell, 84, of W. Ellis St., East Syracuse, died Thursday at St. Joseph's Hospital. He was a lifelong resident of E. Syracuse. He retired from Conrail in 1980 as a caller and he was a fireman and engineer with the former NY Cen-tral. He served with the 3rd Marine Division in the Pacific and participated in the amphibious landings at Bougainville and Guam. He was a member of the Emmanuel Episcopal Church of E. Syracuse, Arthur Butler American Legion Post 359, James F. Ray VFW and the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers. His wife, the former Hazel Wright, died in 1992, and a daughter, Clair Lyn Campbell, died in 1953. Cavedine, 79, of Solvay, and Venice, FL, passed away peacefully Thursday at Community General Hospital, surrounded by his loving wife and children. He was a life resident of Solvay and was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II. Mr. Cav-edine founded Cavedine Sales and Service in Solvay in 1956. His memberships included the Tyrol Club of Solvay, the Geddes Veterans, American Legion, Geddes Seniors and Westvale Country Club. He was a communicant of St. Cecilia's Church. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, golfing and, most of all, spending time with his family. He was a U.S. Army veteran and served in the Pacific during WWII as a first lieutenant. His wife Helen died in 1996. Jones died on Tuesday, September 27, 2005, after suffering with Alzheimer's disease. He was born in Jamesville, New York, in 1921, the second son of Arthur Jones and Huldah (Hess) Jones. Mr. Jones graduated from Jamesville High School in 1939 and attended Syracuse University. He graduated in 1944 with a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering. Mr. Jones married Christine (Woodward) Jones at Hendricks Chapel at Syracuse University on February 12, 1944. Maid of honor, Miss Lucile (Hoag) Schmitz, and best man and brother, Malcolm Jones, along with the bridal party of Doris Crosby, Ethelyn Burdick, Harold Woodward and Maurice Breunsback, were in attendance. Mr. Jones was a WW II veteran, serving from July 1944 to July 1946. Following his service, Mr. Jones joined Bethlehem Steel in Buffalo, New York, and moved to Orchard Park, New York, where the family resided until 1966. A son, Victor C. Jones, was born in 1949. He was a maintenance supervisor in Rolling Mills and Blast Furnace at a time when over 25,000 people came to work each day. He became an avid bowler and golfer, which he continued to do into his late 70s. The family grew with son Victor C. Jones marrying Karen (Danielsen) Jones and grandchildren Michael, Kristen and Peter. Christine and Victor D. Jones moved to Lansdale, PA. In 1966 he became a project engineer, helping to design the Burns Harbor steel plan located on the southern side of Lake Erie. Victor C. Jones followed in his father's footsteps, graduating as an electrical engineer from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in 1971, joining Hewlett Packard Company. Victor D. Jones's interest in home, bowling and golf continued. Many trips were made to visit their grandchildren and the Woodard family, eventually locating near Rochester, New York. Victor D. Jones retired from Bethlehem Steel in 1984 with close to 40 years of service. Christine and Victor started to travel with a month-long trip to Europe and Asia. It turned out they were early tourists to China, which left a memorable impression. In the spring of 1992 they celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary at the Glen Loch in Jamesville, New York. Many attended, including many from the wedding party and friends in the Syracuse area. In 2000, they moved to Massachusetts to be near their son. In January 2001, Christine died suddenly after 56 years of marriage. We will always remember the two of them. Published in the Syracuse Post Standard on 10/2/2005. Morris, Myrle Warren September 22, 2005 Myrle W. Morris, 96, died Sept. 22 from declining health conditions. He was a graduate of L.C. Smith College of Engineering of Syracuse University, where he received his civil engineering degree in June 1931. Mr. Morris was a licensed professional engineer and a longtime resident of central and northern New York. He was the son of Maurice and Blanche Morton, grew up on the southwest side of Syracuse and lived on Onondaga Hill since 1960. During his school years, he was active in many sports, including hockey and lacrosse at Central High School as well as YMCA basketball and sandlot baseball in Oswego County during summer months. At Syracuse University he played lacrosse under famous coach Laurie D. Cox and was awarded the Monks Head Lacrosse Trophy in his senior year. He was a member of Psi Upsilon fraternity at S.U. and a member of the former Syracuse Technology Club. Following graduation from Syracuse University, he was employed for several years each by the New York State Dept. of Public Works-Division of Highways, the U.S. Forest Service in South Carolina and William S. Gere Consulting Engineers, Syracuse. In early 1937 he began a 32-year career in engineering design and construction with Niagara Mohawk Power Corp. and headquartered in Syracuse. He worked on a number of projects and assignments in the company's central division. In 1950 he was appointed resident engineer of construction for the Racquette River Power Project. This work involved building five hydro-electric plants and a large storage reservoir along a 20-mile section of the Racquette River in northern New York. This was his favorite work assignment of all the projects he was ever involved with. In early 1960 Mr. Morris began work as resident engineer of site studies, followed by construction of the Niagara Mohawk Nine Mile One nuclear power plant sited about 10 miles east of Oswego, NY, on the south shore of Lake Ontario. In late 1969 this plant was producing electric power, and he was granted a leave of absence from Niagara Mohawk and began work for the New York Power Authority as resident engineer of construction of the James A. Fitzpatrick nuclear power plant sited adjacent to the Nine Mile One plant. Mr. Morris retired in late 1973 after the Fitzpatrick plant was producing electricity. He was a member of the Onondaga Hill Presbyterian Church and was a former member of the Goodwill and Plymouth Congregational churches of Syracuse. He is survived by one son, Richard W. Morris; two grandsons, Warren L. Morris and Daniel C. Morris; one great-granddaughter, Tracy Ann Morris; and numerous nieces and nephews. September 30, 2005 Edmund Joseph Raus, son of Matthew E. and Florence Hofher Raus, died on September 30, 2005, at Cortland Memorial Nursing Facility in Cortland, NY. He was 92. Mr. Raus was born in Syracuse on March 8, 1913. He graduated from North High School, Syracuse University (1936) and the University's College of Law (1938). He enlisted in the Army during World War II and rose to the rank of captain. He retired from the Veterans Administration in 1972 as the director of the VA Regional Office in Buffalo, NY. Mr. Raus was predeceased by his wife, Marian Curtis Raus, of Cortland, and his brothers, Dr. George M. and William A. Raus. Richardson, Jean A. September 30, 2005 Jean A. Clark Richardson, 83, of Lafayette, NY, died Friday, September 30, 2005, at St. Joseph's Hospital. Born in Pitcairn, NY, she lived in Harrisville, NY, and Orrington, ME, before settling at the home of her daughter and son-in-law Daphne and Bruce Stowe in Jamesville, NY. She was a graduate of Harrisville Central High School. Mrs. Richardson attended Lafayette Alliance Church. She was a homemaker and enjoyed gardening, flowers and just being outdoors. She was predeceased by her husband, Paul H. Richardson; her parents, Howard and Jennie Cole Clark; her brother, George Clark; and a son-in-law, David Reid. Surviving are three daughters and two sons-in-law, Ann Reid of Syracuse; Stephanie and Jan Dirckx of San Diego, CA; and Daphne and Bruce Stowe of Jamesville; a brother and sister-in-law, John and Marlene Clark of Harrisville; four grandchildren: Andrew and Courtney Caron of San Diego and Nicholas and Alexander Stowe of Jamesville; and several nieces and nephews. Sacco, Betty September 30, 2005 Betty Alessandrello Sacco, 90, of Fremont, died at St. Joseph's Hospital with her family by her side. Born in Terrytown, she resided in Palermo, Italy, from 1919 to 1934 and in Fremont since 1955. She was a foster parent for Onondaga County Social Service Department for 31 years, retiring in 1987. Betty was a special person who opened her heart and her home and devoted her life to caring for numerous foster children. It was a great accomplishment for her to see her foster children through college. She was a communicant of St. Mary's Church, Minoa. She was predeceased by her son, Michael Lewis Sacco, in 1957; her husband, Michael A. Sacco, in 1981; and her granddaughter, Krystal Deaver, in 1988. Bell to Herbert and Sarah Bell in Hackensack, NJ, May 20, 1924, passed away in Sarasota, FL, on September 22. Barbara came to Syracuse with her late husband, Frank L. Sackett, in November of 1944. In 1950, they moved to Brewerton, where they owned and operated Sackett's Restaurant until the 1980s. Anyone who went to Sackett's always knew Barbara as the "worker" behind the scenes. Whether for a bowling banquet, wedding reception, fund-raiser or family gathering, Barbara was always there to help. Her job in life was to worry about everyone else, giving comfort to anyone in need. Above all else, it was her family and friends that Barbara treasured the most. After retirement, Barbara resided full-time in Bradenton, FL. She is survived by two daughters, Angeline Sackett of Fort Myers, FL, and Deborah Reuter of Central Square, NY; a sister, Gloria Barnello of Liverpool, NY; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
