He was a member and a deacon of the North Manlius United Church, and amember of Simon Parise VFW Post 9596. He is predeceased by his wife, Laurel 2003; and a son, Alton 1999. October 8, 2005 Gladys Loletta (Davison) Anderson, 95, resident of Fayetteville since 1949, passed away on Saturday in Manlius. She was born on July 1, 1910 at her family home in Mooers Forks, NY the youngest and last surviving of eight childrenborn to Mary Anna Sartwell Davison and Samuel James Davison. Gladys graduated from Mooers High School and earned an AB degree in teaching from Houghton College and a Library Science degree from Geneseo Library School. Her first teaching assignment was in a one room schoolhouse and the students from that time continued to keep in touch with her to the end of her life. Most of her 17 year teaching career was dedicated to providing instruction in English and History at Peru, New York Central School. During that time, she organized the library in the then new school building and several other school libraries in the North Country. While in Peru she met a fellow teacher, Carl Oscar Anderson, the only son of Oscar and Marie Johnson Anderson of East Hampton, NY and they married on September 19, 1942 at the Little Church Around the Corner in New York City. She continued with her teaching profession during WWII while Carl was in the service and afterward in White Plains while her husband attended Buffalo University Dental School. During WWII she also served for a brief time in the WAVES. Gladys was a member of the United Church of Fayetteville and participated in many volunteer events in the Fayetteville community. While the Dental Auxiliary existed, she assisted with scholarship fund raising for dental assistants. She spent over 43 summers in the Thousand Islands sharing with her family in pleasure boating activities and was active in the Coast Guard Auxiliary and Power Squadron. Syracuse University football home games filled every fall and as an avid downhill skier, she spent each winter until she turned 80, enjoying the ski slopes of Central New York and New England. She enjoyed gardening and the many wild animals that visited her backyard. In all these things she was happiest when sharing the experience with others and drew great strength from every moment she spent with family and friends. Gladys was a smart and independent and used her gifts for the good of others. She was known as someone who would always be first to open her heart to another in need and for this she was beloved by many friends. She was matriarch to a huge extended family who lovingly returned her care for them at every opportunity. Survivors: a son, David Anderson of Fairbanks, AK; four generations of nieces and nephews and many cousins living throughout the country. She was predeceased by her husband Carl O. October 9, 2005 Mrs. Esther Margaret Bonaparte, aged 90 years, passed quietly at the St. Joseph Nursing Home in Ogdensburg early Sunday. Esther was a member of the St. Lucy's Catholic Church and a member of the Kateri Tekawitha Circle. She was a founding member of the North American Indian Club of Syracuse. She was a homemaker and the beloved wife of the late Hubert Bonaparte. Born October 24, 1914, daughter of Agnes Cree and Frank Cook of Akwesasne. Esther was an avid New York Yankee Fan. Doty, 102, passed away at home on Sunday. He was a life resident of Syracuse. After Vocational High School, he spent most of his working life in the dairy business, first with Merrill Soule Co., and later with the Best Ice Cream Co. on North State Street as an accountant and office manager. When Best Ice Cream was purchased by the Borden Company and a new manufacturing facility was built on East Molloy Road, Mr. Doty became its first manager, a position he held until his retirement in 1968. In 1928, he married Mary Frances Connell. This union lasted 58 years until her passing in 1986. He is survived by a son, James K.; a niece and a nephew. Favata, 78, of Baldwinsville, and formerly of Rome, passed away October 10, 2005, at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Syracuse. He was born September 18, 1927, in Rome, a son of Dominick and Frances ValvoFavata, and educated in Rome schools. Joseph was united in marriage to the former Marian C. Cardamone on September 7, 1953, in St. Anthony's Church in Utica, a loving and caring marriage of 51 years. Marian died on March 11, 2005. He was a former produce farmer and co-owner of Dominick Favata & Sons, in Rome. He was a U.S. Army veteran of both WW II and Korea. He was a member of St. John the Baptist Church and was a Fourth Degree member of the Knights of Columbus, Rome. Jane worked at Woolworth's5 & 10, General Electric, Dey Brothers, Auto Lite, Syracuse Public Library and retired from Marine Midland Bank. Jane was an electronette at General Electric and Union Stewad for Local 320 of the AFL-CIO for 10 years. Jane lived in Eastwood as a child and graduated from Eastwood High School. Jane was predeceased by Charles Allen, father of the children, Carmen Miano, John McMahon and; her fiance, Oliver Murray. Peterboro Street, Canastota, died Sunday at his home following a lengthy illness. He was born on October 13, 1918, in Syracuse, the son of John L. and Edna Perkins Robertson. John had lived in the Canasto-ta area all his life and graduated from Canastota High School in 1936. He graduated from Colgate University in 1940 and later attended Harvard Law School. He graduated from Syracuse Law School in 1947. He had worked in his father's law firm in Canastota for five years, later owning and operating the firm Robertson and Robertson from 1947 - 2002. John was a World War II veteran, serving overseas with the U.S. Army Air Force. He fought in Italy and North Africa, receiving the Bronze Star Medal for meritorious service. He had been a past president and a member of the Madison County Bar Association since 1947, a director and member of the Oneida Lake Association, a member of the Canastota Civic Club, a charter member of the Canastota Rotary Club and Canastota Lions Club, a member of the American Legion, Charles Miller Post #140 in Canastota, a member of the Canastota Police and Fire Board, a member of the Board of Trustees of the Lenox Rural Cemetery Association, a past member and president of Delano Hose Company & Old Time Firemen, a past commander and member of the former Canastota VFW Post #6194, and a lifetime member of the VFW Post #8440 in Bridgeport. John had been supervisor for the Town of Lenox from 1962-1973, as well as a past president and member of the Canastota Board of Education from 1949-1961. He was a great-great-grandson of Capt. Reuben Perkins, who was the founder of Canastota. John married Margaret "Peg" Gray on June 6, 1943, in West Palm Beach, FL. Peg died on November 8, 2002. He was predeceased by a sister and brother-in-law, Ione and Rev. Samuel Holt, and a daughter-in-law, Carol Bonaventura. Survivors: a son, John D. Robertson of Camden; two grandchildren, Christine P. Robertson of Oneida and Miles and Brennan Robertson of Camden; a daughter-in-law, Joyce Robertson of Oneida; as well as a longtime friend and legal secretary, Jean Wollaber of Oneida. Walti, 69, of North Syracuse, died Sunday at Crouse Hospital. Born in Syracuse, he was a graduate of Solvay High School. He served in the US Army from 1955 to 1958. "Ricky" October 10, 2005 Ruth I."Ricky" Wicks, 81, of Central Square, died Monday, October 10, 2005 at Crouse Hospital in Syracuse. Born in New Paltz, NY, she had resided in Central Square for the last 55 years. Ricky was a Veterinarian Asst. at her husband's busi-ness, Wicks Veterinary Clinic , for 43 years. She was a member of the Central Square Community Church and was chairman of the Memorial Committee and also was a choir member. Ricky was the Oswego County Coordinator for rides for the American Cancer Society, a visitation volunteer for Oswego County Hospice, and was a teachers aide at Brewerton Elementary School. She is survived by her husband of 61 years, George "Doc"; one daughter, Linda R. Knox of Portland, Oregon; two sons, Bruce A. of Chapel Hill, NC and Gary W. of Rochester; one sister, Betty Ann Scott of New Paltz; one brother, David R. Kite of West Monroe; and seven grandchildren to whom she was known as "Mimi".
