He was born on January 20, 1948 in Syracuse, NY. Bill retired from the U.S. Navy after 25 years of service and was employed by Ikon. He was preceded in death by his father, Carlton Ernest Chorley. Van Ingen, John Visger October 9, 2005 John Visger Van Ingen, of Morrisville, died Sunday, October 9, 2005. He was born December 16, 1922, in Rochester, NY. "Jack" led a long and active life. He attended Mount Hermon School in Northfield, MA, going on to Hobart College in Geneva where he was All American in Lacrosse for three years. He earned advanced degrees in business from the University of Michigan, the University of Houston and the General Motors Institute where he also taught. He taught Business and Economics at Gettysburg College, Texas A & M University and SUNY Morrisville where he retired as Professor Emeritus in 2004. Jack was a B-17 pilot during World War II and was shot down, wounded and held prisoner at Stalagluft 1 in Barth, Germany. He never lost his love of flying, and continued on in both in civilian life and the Air Force, retiring from the reserves in 1979 as a Lieutenant Colonel. Having lived through these experiences, Jack lived his life determined to make every minute count. He worked tirelessly, and his involvement in the world community was his driving force. His main focus was to make a difference in the world for young people and for education. He was active and involved in many different organizations including the Mount Hermon Alumni Association, the Hobart Alumni Association, the VFW, SCORE (a program designed to help small business) and in St. Thomas Episcopal Church of Hamilton where he and his wife went for 40 years until their move to Clinton, New York an St. James Episcopal 1 1/2 years ago. Survived by his loving wife, Jean V. Malcolm Van Ingen, (Jack and his wife, Jean were married over 54 years ago in a double ceremony with Jean's sister, Roberta and her husband, John); also surviving are a son, John M.S. Whitney, 82, of Manlius, died October 9. She was very active in the Fayetteville-Manlius area, having moved here 41 years ago from Pelham Manor, NY. She was one of the original members of CanSurmont, being trained by the American Cancer Society to counsel cancer patients. She has donated her body to science through The Anatomical Gift Program at Upstate Medical University. She was a graduate of Virginia Intermont College, University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Hygiene, and received her SUNY Bachelor of Science degree at age 57. She worked as a dental hygienist in Cazenovia, taught at Careerco, and retired from Loretto Geriatric Center in 1988. Survivors: sons, William J. Adams of Dunwoody, GA, Robert M. Whitney of Middletown, RI; daughter, Leila A. Lerch of Northampton, PA; also Susan W. Wentworth of Brattleboro, VT and Nancy W. Merritt of Claversak, NY, twin daughters of her husband, Horace B. Whitney, who predeceased her in 1964. She is also survived by grandchildren, Sarah, Amy, John David, Maxwell, Dillon, Heather, Adam, Linda, Steve and Andrew. Wykes Jr., John B. October 11, 2005 John B. Wykes Jr., 83, of Camillus and Lake George, New York, died Tuesday, October 11, 2005, at the Veterans Administration Medical Center. Mr. Wykes was a graduate of Milne High School in Albany, NY, and a member of the Alpha Kappa Pifraternity while attending Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute of Troy, NY. He retired as the Northeast Customer Service Representative for the Allen-Sherman-Hoff Company of Pennsylvania. Mr. Wykes was a past commander of the American Legion, Fort Orange Post in Albany, New York. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Eileen Wykes; daughter, Barbara Checkosky; son, John Wykes; daughter, Diane Tyska; son, John Wykes; granddaughter, Leslie Davis; grandsons, Michael Tyska, Craig Tyska and Matthew Checkosky; and great-grandsons, Jack, Mark and Will Davis. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Friday, October 14, 2005, at St. Joseph's Church in Camillus. Burial will be held Saturday in Evergreen Cemetery in Otego, NY.
