August 31, 2005 Linda J. Auringer, 51, of Central Square, died Wednesday, August 31, 2005 at her home. Born in Poughkeepsie, NY, she had lived in Massena before moving to the Central Square area about 20 years ago. She was a Teaching Assistant for three years, both at the Brewerton Elementary School and the P.V. Moore High School, Central Square. Surviving are her husband, Stephen; two daughters, Julie Varney of Clay and Christine Powell of Syracuse; a son, Scott Thousand of Acworth, GA; her mother, Betty Hare of Massena; a sister, Candace Hare of Massena; two brothers, Leon Hare and Timothy Hare, both of Utica; and eight grandchildren. Erwin, Sister Ann Barbara Erwin, CSJ August 31, 2005 Sister Ann Barbara Erwin, CSJ, 86, of Latham, died Wednesday, August 31, 2005, at St. Peter's Hospital, Albany. She was a Sister of St. Joseph of Carondelet for 67 years. Born in Syracuse, NY, she was the daughter of the late Michael and Ann Warner Erwin. After graduating from St. Patrick's High School in 1937, she entered the Sisters of St. Joseph. Sister Ann received a bachelor's degree in education from the College of Saint Rose and permanent certification in general science and biology from the New York State Education Department. She taught in elementary and secondary schools in the Albany and Syracuse Dioceses for nearly 40 years, and then served as the business-record manager at St. Patrick's School in Syracuse. In 1997, Sister Ann moved to St. Joseph's Provincial House, Latham, where she did in-service work and generously shared of her time and talent. Sister Ann Barbara is survived by her beloved sister, Margaret (Peggy) Lake of Syracuse; nieces and nephews; the Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondelet; and many dear friends. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her brother, Edward. Funeral Mass will be Saturday, September 3, 2005, at 9 a.m. in Our Lady Queen of Virgins Chapel at St. Joseph's Provincial House, Latham. Sematoske Green, of North Syracuse, passed away Wednesday at St. Joseph's Hospital. She was born in Syracuse and a life resident of the area. McMahon, James H. August 9, 2005 James H. McMahon, age 67, passed away on Tuesday, August 9, 2005, in Roanoke, Virginia, after a sudden illness. Funeral services were held on Saturday, August 13, 2005, in Portage, Wisconsin. Burial followed at Hillside Ceme-tery in Poynette, Wisconsin, with military graveside services provided by Portage area veterans. McMahon was born on June 10, 1938, in Portage, Wisconsin, the son of Harold and Evelyn McMahon. The family moved to Hammond, Indiana, where he attended school before entering the U.S. Air Force. McMahon retired from DFA-Haylor, an agricultural insurance company, on January 1, 2004. McMahon founded the company located in Syracuse, New York, and served as its CEO before moving to Roanoke, Virginia. McMahon is survived by his wife, Wilma; three sons, Howard in Wisconsin, Adam in Virginia, and Albert in Syracuse; two daughters-in-law, Kim and Karen; and five grandchildren. Irene Rightmire, 94, of 200 West South St., Groton, died September 1, 2005, at her home after a short illness. Born July 5, 1911, in DeKalb Junction, NY, she was the daughter of the late Buthel and Emma Cline Bressette. Having been a Groton resident since 1953, she had been employed by Smith Corona, retiring in the late 70's. She had been a communicant of St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Groton and a member of the Groton American Legion Auxiliary. She is survived by her children, Claude Wilkins of Syracuse and Verne (Barbara) Wilkins of Waverly, NY; and a son-in-law, Merton Sarvay of Cortland, NY. Her grandchildren, John, Scott, Cora, Tawnya, Harold, Laura, William and Teresa survive her as well as 10 great-grandchildren. Besides her parents, her husbands, Harold Barry, Horace Button and Richard Rightmire, and her grandsons, Michael, Steven, and Thomas predeceased her. Several nieces and nephews also survive her. She was born in Tully and had resided in Baldwinsville since 1950. Ruth was a 1937 graduate of Cortland Normal School and in 1950 from Oswego State Teachers College. She retired in 1981 from Roxboro Elementary School in Mattydale and had previously taught 21 years in Solvay. Ruth was a member of the Hillview Community Baptist Church and the Female Charitable Society both in Baldwinsville. She was a member of the Tully Area Historical Society, NYS Retired Teachers, and NYS United Teachers Retired. Ruth was predeceased by her husband, John in 2001 and her son, Duane in 2003. Survivors: a daughter-in-law, Ann Whiteley; a granddaughter, Tammy McCabe; and two grandchildren all of New York City. Services: 1 p.m. Saturday at Falardeau Funeral Home, Inc. Baldwinsville.
