September 1, 2005 Anne S. Adams, 82, a former resident of Syracuse, died on Thursday, September 1, 2005 at the Maui Memorial Medical Center in Maui, Hawaii. She was the daughter of Roman and Mary Kravetz of Syracuse. She was formerly employed at Syracuse China and General Electric and an avid pet lover. She was predeceased by her husband, Lee D. Adams; and a son, Robert S. Scott. Surviving are her son, Francis W. (Chip) (Linda) Scott of Maui, HI;three grandsons, Michael and Daniel Scott of California, Shaun Scott of Washington State; three great-grandchildren, Joshua, Amanda and Cole Scott of California; a brother, Dan Kravetz of Utah; and a sister, Dorothy (Robert) Korkuc of Syracuse, and several nieces and nephews. Erny was born in Clay and was a life resident of Clay. He worked for the North Syracuse Central School District from 1958-1972. He then went to work for BOCES for 33 years, where he was the superintendent of buildings and grounds, retiring in 1988. Erny also worked for Meals on Wheels in North Syracuse, and was the vice president of the Clay Historical Association. He was predeceased by his first wife, Dolores. Survivors: His wife of 16 years, Thalia (Brand); two sons, Raymond (Linda) Baker of Spencerport, NY, and James (Kim) Baker of Canastota; foster son, John Dombroski of Florida; four stepdaughters, Amanda (David) Archer, Brenda (Andrew) Taddeo, Cheryl (John) Palladino, Gail (Tim) Taylor; two brothers, Harold (Inez) and Robert (Sue) Baker; 16 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. Birdseye, 90, of Syracuse, passed away Tuesday at James Square Rehabilitation Center. She was a native and life resident of Syracuse. Burnice retired, after working several years as a bookkeeper with the family business, Art-craft Press. She was a communicant of Assumption Church and was a member of the Syracuse African Violet Society. Her husband, Robert F. predeceased her in 1990. Bragman, 71, passed away on Tuesday, September 13, at St. Joseph's Hospital after a short illness. Bob was born in Sryacuse and lived in Cicero for the past 58 years. He was a member of the Teamsters Union 317, the Cicero Vol. Fire Department, security guard for the North Syracuse Central School District, former member of the Onondaga County Senior Softball League. Bob retired in 1998 from the Department of the Military and Naval Affairs for the State of New York. He ws predeceased by his son Robert A. He is a native of Brockport, graduated from Brockport High School, and is a member of the Capen Hose Fire Company of Brockport. During WWII he servedin the U.S. Army as a medic. He resided in North Syracuse since 1948 and is a member of Andrews Memorial United Methodist Church. He retired as a food services supervisor for Loblaws and Sysco. He had also been Loblaws' produce manager and a school bus driver. He was predeceased by nine brothers and sisters and was a good grandpa. Surviving are his wife of 58 years, the former Barbara H. Nathan moved to the Syracuse area in 1960. He retired in 1987 from the Onondaga County Health Department, Social Services. Nathan was an Army veteran of World War II who fought in the D-Day Invasion and the Battle of the Bulge. He is a member of American Legion Post 359. Born in Italy, she lived in Solvay most of her life. She graduated from Solvay High School and was a 1946 graduate of Crouse Irving School of Nursing. She was a registered nurse at Crouse Irving Hospital, then was head nurse for both Dr. Loomis and Dr. Phillips, retiring in 1977. She was a communicant of St. Cecilia's Church, a member of the Solvay Tyrol Club Ladies Auxiliary and the Crouse Hospital Nurses Alumni. Carla was an avid bowler and reader who enjoyed traveling with friends and family. He was born in Syracuse and was a graduate of St. Patrick's High School and Niagara University. He was a WWII Army Veteran, and a recipient of the Purple Heart. Jim was a member of Steamfitters Local #818, and retired from Honeywell in 1981. Vernon was born June 16, 1906 to Eva H. (Baum) and Herman P. Goettel. He began working at age 17 for his father's "H. P. Goettel Lumber Co." Vernon and his brother, Arnold, took over the family business in 1933 at his father's death. Goettel Lumber built many homes as well as three of the four churches in Central Square. The Goettel Corporation diversified to include the Community Feed Mill, farm machinery sales, home planning, appliances, and hardware sales. He was an active lifelong member of the First Universalist Church of Central Square, and was a devoted member of the Central Square Masonic Lodge for 78 years. He served on the Board of Education from 1937 to 1950, and was its president for part of that time. He is remembered as a pillar of his community, participating in and organizing countless civic, church, and Masonic functions. Vernon was predeceased by his wife of 63 years, Alexandra (Angevine); and his brother, Arnold. He is survived and much loved by his daughter, Grace Niland, of White Plains, NY; his son, Brig. Gen. H. Philip Goettel and wife Nancy of Newark, DE; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. Born May 27, 1938, on the West side of Syracuse, he graduated from Blodgett Vocational High School in 1957, and has lived inSolvay for 45 years. He worked construction, then worked for companies such as Porter Cable, Syracuse Tank and Solvay Process. He later was a bus driver for Westhill School District. He then spent 31 years as a driver and dock worker in the freight business with many trucking companies - Red Star, Coleman Brothers, Eastern Freightway, Associated, Eastern, and finished at Stott and Davis the last 22 years. He was a member of the Teamsters Local 317 and was shop steward for many years. George adored his only granddaughter, Marisa. September 13, 2005 Louise I. Luke LaMott, 88, of Syracuse, died Tuesday at Loretto. She was born in Syracuse and resided in the area all her life. Valente, 92, of 107 E. Yates St., East Syracuse, died Wednesday at his home surrounded by his loving family. Frank was employed as a brakeman and later as a conductor with the former NY Central Railroad and Conrail for 45 years, retir-ing in 1978. He was a communicant of St. Matthew's Church in East Syracuse, where he served as an usher for many years. He was an U.S. Army Veteran of WWII and a past member of the East Syracuse VFW. He was also a member of Narvre Unit 53 and he had served in the Onondaga County Civil Defense Auxiliary. In his retirement, Frank enjoyed shopping at Wegman's on James St., working in his garden and spending time with his family. Surviving are his wife of 59 years, Rose; two sons, Frank E. and Andrea Valente and Dennis and Catherine Valente; a daughter, Karen Centore; eight grandchildren, John and Kimberly Centore, Daniel and Jill Valente, Kevin and Jennifer Valente and Nicholas, Stephen, Lauren, and Jaclyn Valente.
