Bragman, 71, passed away on Tuesday, September 13, at St. Joseph's Hospital after a short illness. Bob was born in Syracuse and lived in Cicero for the past 58 years. He was a member of the Teamsters Union 317, the Cicero Vol. Fire Department, security guard for the North Syracuse Central School District, former member of the Onondaga County Senior Softball League. Bob retired in 1998 from the Department of the Military and Naval Affairs for the State of New York. He was predeceased by his son Robert A. Cummings, 87, of Poquoson, VA, formerly of Syracuse, passed away on Tuesday. Born and educated in Syracuse, she was a department head for W.T. Grant before her retirement. She was a communicant of the Basilica of the Sacred Heart of Jesus and a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Knights of Columbus Council 6282. She was named Mother of the Year in 1998. Deaver Sr., David J. September 14, 2005 David James "Gentle Giant" Deaver, Sr., 61, of Nedrow, went to be in the loving arms of Jesus on Wednesday. Born in Batavia, on June 5, 1944, he grew up in Aurora and later moved to Syracuse. He was the son of the the late Edward C. Deav-er, Sr. and Dorothy (Razey) Deaver of LaFayette. He attended OCC and CCC and retired from NYS Dept. Of Transportation Canal Division in 1986 after 24 years. He was a lay leader and Sunday School Teacher at Cardiff United Methodist Church and a member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church. He played bass guitar with several country bands in the Syracuse area and was in the Mexico United Methodist Church Folk Band and was also a member of the The Jordan River Band at Mexico Penticostal Church of God. Hurst, George R. September 12, 2005 George R. Hurst, 67, of Solvay, passed away Monday at Francis House following a courageous battle with cancer. Born May 27, 1938, on the West side of Syracuse, he graduated from Blodgett Vocational High School in 1957, and has lived inSolvay for 45 years. He worked construction, then worked for companies such as Porter Cable, Syracuse Tank and Solvay Process. He later was a bus driver for Westhill School District. He then spent 31 years as a driver and dock worker in the freight business with many trucking companies - Red Star, Coleman Brothers, Eastern Freightway, Associated, Eastern, and finished at Stott and Davis the last 22 years. He was a member of the Teamsters Local 317 and was shop steward for many years. George adored his only granddaughter, Marisa. Snyder, Helen Gleason Jennings Jennings Snyder September 14, 2005 Helen Gleason Jennings Snyder, 74, passed lovingly into the arms of our creator at Crouse Hospital on Wednesday evening of this week after a brief illness. She was born in Syracuse and formerly lived on Belden Ave. before moving to River Road in Baldwinsville where she resided for the last 50 or so years. She endured her illness as she did with life... with courage, strength and deep love for and from her family and friends. She worked for many years in the grocery industry, Edwards Department Store, and 19 years at Hancock Air Force Base in North Syracuse. She loved to garden so shortly after her formal retirement, she became co-owner of her own flower shop in Mattydale, NY, for several years. After her retirement from the flower shop, she continued to enjoy helping people and worked part time in retail sales at Kaufmann's Department Store in Great Northern Mall. She continued to enjoy her passion for floral design and gardening at her home until her untimely death. She was active for several years in the Liverpool-Baldwinsville Chapter Order of Eastern Star where she held several offices.
