She was born in Syracuse and was a graduate of St. Lucy's High School. Eleanor was a supervisor at NY Telephone for 38 years, retiring in 1985. She was a member of the NY Telephone Pioneers and loved to travel by cruise ship with her husband, visiting 33 ports of call. Surviving are her husband of 49 years, Joseph H. Ciotti; two sisters, Mary Dixon of Syracuse and Virginia Zerbinos of Phoenix; a cousin, Robert Roth of Syracuse; several nieces, nephews and cousins. Conklin, Helen August 14, 2005 Helen Mae Conklin, 94, of Bryan, TX. Born in Yuma Colorado, Mrs. Conklin resided in Syracuse for over 60 years with her husband, Ivan who predeceased her. She was employed at the Mark's Pharmacy for many years and was a member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church. Mrs. Conklin was well-known for her baking and bridge playing.August 28, 2005 Richard Henry Conklin, MD, PHD, 65 of Bryan, TX. Born In Syracuse, Dr. Conklin's career in medicine had him serving as a Pathologist, An Internist, A Disability Examiner, a Psychiatrist and an Infectious Disease Specialist. He also served his country in Vietnam and served his city working as an instructor in Karate and as a ringside doctor for boxing clubs. He retired in 1984 as Chief of Maintenance for the Syracuse Fire Department after 31 years of service. He was a veteran of the US Army during World War II and a recipi-ent of the Bronze Star. Mr. Coogan also served for 32 years in the Army National Guard with the 50th Armor Division and retired as a Chief Warrant Officer. He is predeceased by his wife, Ann who died in 1984. He is survived by his two daughters, Colleen (Tom) Basile and Elizabeth Stopher both of Syracuse; four sons, Collin (Patti) of Lafayette, Patrick (Cori) of Central Square, James (Boni) of Syracuse, Christopher (Jane) of Waterbury, CT; 10 grandchildren; one great-grandson; and several nieces and nephews. Cooper, 26, a resident of White Plains for 11 years, died on September 7 after a tragic motorcycle accident. Alva was born in Monrovia, Liberia. While living in Syracuse he attended Onondaga Community College and was em-ployed at Awful Al's Cigar Bar and Ambrosia. Those that had the honor of meeting him would agree that Alva was kind and caring. No matter the circumstance there was always a smile and a kind word to greet the many who he held dear. Dukat, Peter A. September 18, 2005 Peter A. Dukat, 91, of Westvale, died peacefully Sunday at Crouse Hospital with family by his side. Peter was a devoted father and grandfather and had a deep love of God, nature and animals. He retired in 1976 after 43 years with McMillan Book Company. For many years Pete lovingly cared for Marion, his wife of 49 years, who died in 1988. For most of his life he was a communicant of St. Cecilia's where he was an usher and member of the Holy Name Society. Peter was active with the Wagon Wheel Senior Center, belonged to the Moose Lodge, and was a volunteer with the Health Dept. doing work at home. Born in Syracuse, he lived in Camillus from 1956 until moving to Sandy Pond in 1976 and returning to Camillus in 2001. Don was a graduate of Onondaga Val-ley High School and a Navy veteran of World War II. He previously owned Camillus Tile Co. from 1956 until 1976 and was employed for 17 years by Mack Trucks, Inc., retiring in 1987. Don was a member of VFW Post 8534 in Lacona. Legere, Linda J. September 19, 2005 On Monday the gates of heaven opened and welcomed Linda June Legere. Beloved mother, sister, grandmother and dear friend of all who knew her. Linda was born June Cramer in Bagley, Iowa on November 25, 1930. She met and married her husband, Leon Legere Jr. and they eventually settled in Syracuse. Along with many accomplishments, Linda's greatest gift was her unending love and devotion to her four children. He was born and raised in Syracuse and was a 1958 graduate of C.B.A. and a 1962 graduate of Syracuse University. While at SU, he was a member of the varsity track team. He served with the U.S. Army in Germany after his graduation from SU. He was a retired manager with Northrup Grumman. Spencer, Richard Herbert September 18, 2005 Richard Herbert Spencer, 91, of Syracuse, died Sunday at the Nottingham. He moved to Syracuse in 1946 after three years of military service as a Lieutenant ( j.g.) in the Navy. Until his retirement in 1979 he was General Manager of the regional office of the Hartford Insurance Group. A native of Hartford, CT, Mr. Spencer was a graduate of the Kingswood School and graduated in 1936 from Dartmouth College where he was a member of Phi Kappa Psi fraternity and the Dragon senior society. He was a longtime supporter of both schools. Mr. Spencer was an avid golfer and squash player for many years, served on many boards including the Onondaga Chapter of the American Red Cross, and was a member of the Century Club of Syracuse and the Onondaga Golf and Country Club. He was a United Way fundraiser and served as chairman of several United Way divisions and was an elder of Park Central Presbyterian Church. He was married for 60 years to the late Julia B. Spencer, who passed away in 1999. Surviving are a daughter and son-in-law, Julia and John Banks of Fayetteville; a son and daughter-in-law, Richard B. and Beth Spencer of Annapolis, MD; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; four nieces; a nephew and many friends.
