September 25, 2005 Richard L Bonney, 74, resident of Bridgeport, NY, the past 28 years, died Sunday at St. Joseph's Hospital after a brief illness. Born in Pulaski, he graduated form Altmar High School in 1948. Richard retired in 1993 after 38 years as sales manager for the former Lipe-Rollway Corp. He was a member of American Legion Post #8 in Winter Haven, FL. Survivors: his wife of 38 years, Carol Penfield Bonney; children, Mark Bonney of Seneca Falls and Gail Redden of Central Square; eight grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. Cahalan, Auburn, died Friday. He was a WWII veteran. Collins, Charles "Chuck" September 24, 2005 Charles Frederick Collins, 95, died September 24, 2005, in Syracuse. Born in the village of Paris, NY, he graduated from Syracuse University in 1933. He joined the musicians union in 1926, and during his four years at SU, he played the trombone in the orchestras at Suburban Park and the Crystal Ballroom. In 1935 he moved to Chicago. During World War II he was a line officer on USS Pillsbury DE 133. After the war, this ship was featured on the TV series Navy Log. He returned to Syracuse in 1948, where he owned and operated Collins & Co, a wholesale food company. In 1949 he organized the Sherman Park Baseball program and coached many outstanding baseball teams. He was a past president of the Syracuse Rotary Club and an organizer of the Dewitt Rotary Club. An avid bowler, he bowled in several leagues for many years. He was a member of the Pastime Club and the Moose Clubs of Baldwinsville and Syracuse. He was also a member of the Liverpool American Legion #188, where he played in the concert band, the marching band and the dance group, the Legionaires. He was a charter member of the musical group, the Old Smoothies. He was a square dance caller for several local clubs, including the Seneca Swingers, the Grand Squares, the Quadrilliers, the Country Dancers of Onondaga Hill, in addition to Canton Woods and Wagon Wheel Senior Centers. He created wheelchair dancing, a unique version of square dancing, and entertained in most senior establishments in Central New York. Survived by his son, John W. (Titia) of Manlius; two grandsons, Brian (Cathy) of Weston, CT, and Todd (Elisabeth) of Palo Alto, CA; five grandchildren: Claire, Christopher, Kenneth, Emily and Harrison; a niece, Charlotte Stillwell of North East, PA; and his loving and devoted longtime companion, Helen Harsh of Syracuse. "Len" Doyle, 62, of Syracuse, died at home on September 23, 2005. A native and life resident of Syracuse, he was a communicant of St. John the Evangelist Church. Mr. Doyle retired from Niagara Mohawk in 1994 after 30 years of service. He was a member of the Pastime Athletic Club, Syracuse Turners and an avid sportsman, enjoying golf, softball and basketball. He was predeceased by his parents, John and Lillian Doyle. Mr. Greenway retired in 1980 after 28 years of employment as a foreman in the machine shop for Sealright Co., Fulton. He was previously employed with the Gunworks, Fulton. Mr. Greenway was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served during WWII from 1940 to 1942. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Ruth Greenway of Mexico; his children, Hugh Greenway and Kathryn Rose, both of Mexico; his sister, Beulah Pedersen of Canandaigua, NY; five grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. September 24, 2005 June D. Kolb, 63, of Minoa, passed on Saturday at Crouse Hospital after a brave battle against cancer. She left this life the way she lived it, with grace and dignity. June was a world traveler with her husband Bill, a member of the United States Air Force. Together they visited many places: Okinawa and Taiwan just to name two. June was beloved by many: two sons, John and William, and two lovely grandchildren who gave her much joy and love. She was employed at Arrowhead Golf Course, working for her sister. She enjoyed the atmosphere of the course, and all who knew her will miss her and her wonderful ways. June was never at a loss for things to do, caring for her home and family, always extending a helping hand when needed. Schilling, Mary Stockbridge Schilling September 22, 2005 Mary Stockbridge Schilling, 95, of Clinton, NY, died September 22, after a brief illness, in Chatham, MA. Mrs. Schilling was born August 20, 1910, in Clinton, NY. She attended Clinton Public Schools and graduated from Kathryn Gibbs Secretarial School in Boston. She lived in Clinton, NY, all her life, and was residing in Chatham, MA, for the last two years. Mrs. Schilling started her career in Utica, NY, at AT&T. She then worked as a registrar at Hamilton College in Clinton. She retired as an administrative assistant to the Dean of Hamilton College. She was a member of the Eastern Star and the Methodist Church. She was a volunteer at Faxton Hospital in Utica. She was also a volunteer with Meals on Wheels. Mrs. Schilling enjoyed reading and was an active gardener. She was the wife of the late Jerome "Jerry" Schilling. Besides her husband, she was predeceased by her son, John Schilling. Mrs. Schilling is survived by her children, Jerome Schilling and his wife Civita of North Syracuse, NY; Emily Goldberg and her husband Charles of West Chatham, MA; and Paul Schilling and his wife Lorraine of North Attelboro, MA. Shinaman, died September 23, 2005, at Forsyth Medical Center after an extended illness. Mr. Shinaman was born February 16, 1926, to the late Harvey Rayand Nellie Slaght Shinaman in Syracuse. A graduate of Syracuse University, he spent his early adulthood in Syracuse before relocating in Wilkes County. He was a former employee of Northwestern Bank and retired from the Learning Resource Center (now RESA) as a management analyst. A member of the First Baptist Church of North Wilkesboro, Paul served as the director of Men of the Church program, and was an usher and Sunday School teacher. He was one of the first volunteers at the Samaritan Kitchen and was active in the Bosnia refugee resettlement. In addition, he went as a disaster relief volunteer to North Dakota and the coast of North Carolina. He was a former member of the Rotary Club. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Sara Mabe Shinaman. His survivors, in addition to his wife, include sons Craig Shinaman and wife Debra of Mooresville, NC, and Dr. Brad Shinaman and wife Melanie of Moravian Falls; brothers Rev. Keith Ray Shinaman of Marcellus and David Lee Shinaman and wife Rev. Marilyn Shinaman of Williamsburg, VA; five grandchildren: Dr. Richard Shinaman and wife Joelle of Walnut Creek, CA; Brian Shinaman and wife Cyndi of Wilmington, NC; and Daniel Shinaman, Jay Shinaman and Stephanie Shinaman, all of Moravian Falls.
