Know ye that at Onondaga in the County of Onondaga on the second day of October in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and fifteen before George Hall Esq. Surrogate of our said County the Last Will and Testament of James Leonard deceased (a copy whereof is hereunto annexed) was proved and is now approved and allowed of by us, and the said deceased having whilst he lived and at the time of his death goods Chattels or Credits within this state by means whereof the proving and registering the said Will, and the granting administration of all and singuler the said goods chattels and Credits, and also the auditing allowing and final discharging the amount thereof doth belong unto us; the administration of all and singuler the goods chattels and Credits of the said deceased and any way concerning his will is granted unto Eunice Leonard and Joseph Smith of the Town of Pompey in the County of Onondaga Executors in the said Will named they being first duly sworn well and faithfully to administer the same and to make and exhibit a true and perfect inventory of all and singuler the said goods chattels and Credits and also to render a just and true account thereof when thereunto required -- In Testimony whereof we have caused the seal of office of our said Surrogate to be hereunto affixed. Witness George Hall Esq. Surrogate of the said County at Onondaga aforesaid the second day of October in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and fifteen and of our independance the fortieth year. I James Leonard of the Town of Pompey in the County of Onondaga being weak in body, but of sound and perfect mind and memory (Blessed be Almighty God for the same) do make and publish this my last Will and Testament in manner & form following -- First I give and devise unto my beloved wife Eunice Leonard the use and improvement of all my real estate in said Town of Pompey during the term she remains my widow, and also the use and disposal of all my personal estate that shall remain after my just debts and funeral charges are paid and also the legacies herein after devised. I further give and devise unto my son James and to my son David and to my son John and to my son Daniel, and to my Daughter Olive Randall and to my Daughter Elizabeth Woodmance and to my Daughter Rebecah Monk each of them the sum of fifty cents each to be paid to each of them or their heirs in one year after my decease which sum together with what they have already had which is in full of each of their portions in my estate. I further give and devise unto the children of my daughter Eunice Drake deceased viz. to Rhoda Drake to Eunice Drake to Mary Drake to Leonard Drake to Keziah Drake to Sarah Drake to Lucy Drake and to Asa Drake each of them twenty cents each, to be paid to each of them or their heirs in one year after my decease which sums is in full of each of their portions in my estate. And I further give and devise unto my Daughter Lois the sum of fifty Dollars and one Cow which is full of her portion in my estate. Furthermore I give and devise unto my three youngest Daughters Elizabeth Woodmans Rebecah Monk and Lois Leonard to each and their respective heirs and assigns forever one equal third part of all my real estate being ten acres of Land on Lot number fifty nine in Pompey aforesaid, when their mother shall have done with the use thereof as above mentioned and devised, And further I do hereby constitute and appoint my well beloved wife Eunice Leonard and Joseph Smith Executors of this my last Will and Testament. Smith Joseph Smith *********************************************** Be it remembered that on the second day of October in the year eighteen Hundred and fifteen personally came before me George Hall Surrogate of the County of Onondaga Joseph Smith of the town of Pompey in the County of Onondaga who being duly sworn saith that his name subscribed to the aforesaid last Will and Testament of the said James Leonard deceased is in his own proper handwriting and that he saw the said deceased sign and seal an instrument in writing purporting to be his last Will and Testament bearing date the tenth day of August in the year eighteen Hundred and fifteen (the preceding whereof is a true copy) and at the same time heard him publish and declare the same as and for his last Will and Testament, and at the time thereof the said James Leonard was of sound disposing mind and memory to the best of the Knowledge and belief of him this deponant, and the said deponant further saith that he and the other subscribing Witnesses to the said subscribed the same in the presence of each other and in the presence of the testator & he in their presence.
