E. BUNDAY, Was born, January 12, 1829, in Ontario county, N. Y., and is a son of Samuel Bunday, who moved from there to Warren county, Pa., and thence to Hillsdale county, Michigan, and in 1840 to Crawford county overland and with a yoke of oxen. He bought land one mile east of Linesville, on which he settled. Re commenced working out by the day and month when he was fifteen, and when he was sixteen went with Jesse Gilliland and learned the blacksmith's trade, serving four years, and then worked for him for about two and one-half years at twenty dollars per month. Then he bought him out, and carried on the business until 1865, and after that worked at plastering and the mason's trade for four years. In 1859 he commenced manufacturing window sashes and woodwork, and soon rigged up a water power which answered the purpose for four years, when the business demanded more power, and he put up a large steam mill, which is still in operation. He has been a member of the Town Council three terms, and a member of the County Committee nearly all the time for fifteen years. In 1878 he was one of the leading advocates of the Greenback cause, and purchased an interest in the American Citizen which became the organ of that party for a short time, and which consolidated with the People's Advocate, January, 1879. In 1872 he bought a large farm near Linesville, which he still runs, and has built and owns more houses than any other man in the borough, and there is only one man in Linesville who pays more taxes than he does at the present time.
