In the 1830's Joseph G. Wilson's parents moved to South Bristol, Ontario County, New York. Susan L. Cribb was born in Feb.09,1819 in South Bristol, Ontario Co. N.Y. Her father was Joseph Cribb. He is buried in Naples, N. Y. Joseph and Susan were married January 19,1841 in South Bristol, N. Y. They had their first child in Naples, Ont. Co. N.Y. His name was George Riley Wilson born March 10,1843. In the fall of 1845 they moved to Greenwood, McHenry Co. ILL. Here they rented land to farm. Joseph was not only a good farmer but a very good carpenter too. They had the following children here. Frances Adelaide Wilson born 1846, Sarah Oliva Wilson born 1848, and Dewitt Christian Wilson born 1849. By 1852 they moved to Farley, Dubuque Co. Iowa. Joseph founded this town in 1852. They had the following children in this area. Adelbert Udell Wilson born 1852. Mary Edna Wilson born 1854, and Stephen C. Wilson born 1865. The last child was Emily Jennie Wilson born in 1862. Joseph was the first post master, was the justice of the peace during the civil war. Held the first church services in his home, and became the best eye doctor in the area. Then by 1880 the children were getting married off. So Joseph and Susan sold everything and moved to Sioux Falls, South Dakota in 1881. By July 1881 Joseph died. He was buried at Mount Pleasant Cemetery in Sioux Falls, S.D. Susan died on Nov.25,1904 in Akron, Plymouth Co. Iowa. She is buried in the Riverside Cemetery there.
