 The agitator.: (Wellsborough, Tioga County, Pa.): December 14, 1864
In Beverly Hospital, N. J., on the 21st of August, 1864, Thomas O. Godden, aged 32
years… Thomas O. Godden was born in Bloomfield, Ontario Co., N. Y. Five years ago he
removed with his family to this place. In February last he volunteered his services
to Co. A. 187th Reg’t. P. V., and was with his Regiment until after the battle in
front of Petersburg, June 15th. He was taken sick the 1st of July, and went to the
Division Hospital where he remained until the first of August, then was removed to
the Hospital ht Beverly N. J., where he died. Mr. Godden leaves a widow and little
son, and other relatives to mourn his loss. Among those last named, are two brothers
still in the service of their country.
