Tallmadge, Esq. Surrogate of Wayne Co. In the name of God, Amen, I Oren Aldrich of the town of Lyons, County of Ontario, and State of New York being at this time weak in body, but through Infinite Mercy blessed with soundness of mind and the proper use of my intellectual powers do this thirty first day of January in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and twenty three, make and publish this my last will and testament in manner following that is to say/ I give and bequeath unto my daughter Eliza Aldrich thirty acres of land off of the north side of that part of Lot No. Ninety one in the town of Lyons now in my possession on which I now reside in the county of Ontario, to extend from the north west corner of said lot south thirty rods on the west line of said lot thence easterly across said lot to the east line of the same lot as to contain the aforesaid thirty acres in as good shape as reasonably can be. Furthermore it is my will that she the said Eliza should have every priveledge in and about my house that is necessary to render it to her a comfortable home such as the use of a bed room and other things necessary for theperformance of her usual work without interruption so long as she slal remain in a state of celibacy. I furthermore give and bequeath unto my sons Edmund Tillson Aldrich and Lycurgas Demosthenes Aldrich all the residue of my real estate including my wife Lucy Aldrich's thirds after her decease, on the following condition viz: First if my son Edmund Tillson Aldrich shall pay unto Cornelius Miller my son in law two hundred dollars one hundred in money to be paid in one year from my decease, and one hundred in meat stock at cash price in three years after my decease. Also 2dly if he the said Tillson shall pay to my grand daughter Synthia Alverson the sum of two hundred dollars one hundred dollars in money and one hundred dollars in meat stock at cash price the above legacy to be paid at his then place of residence. Thirdly, and also if he the said Tillson shall increase and settle a certain life lease holden by Amos Jenks and wife for ten acres of land agreeable to the true intent and meaning of said lease. And fourthly, If he the said Edmund Tillson Aldrich shall take good care of and provide every thing necessary for the comfort and support of my wife and his mother during her life both in sickness and in health, then the above bequest shall be valid otherwise shall be void. 2d If my son Lycurgus Demosthenes Aldrich shall pay unto my granddaughter Sally Lusk one hundred and ten dollars one half money and one half meat stock, when she shall arrive at the age of eighteen years, and also one hundred and thirty dollars unto my grandson Lycurgas Demosthenes Lusk, one half in money and one half in meat stock when he shall arrive to the age of twenty one years, then the above bequest shall be valid otherwise shall be void. it is also my further will and pleasure that if my son Lycurgus Demosthens Aldrich should not live to have a legal heir wither arrive to the age of twenty one years all his above bequest save a sufficency to pay his lawful debts or demands against him shall become bonafidely and postively the property of Edmund Tillson Aldrich and Eliza Aldrich to be divided equally between them. I also give and bequeath unto my wife Lucy Aldrich all my household furniture saving one five pail kettle which I give to my daughter Eliza after the expiration of four years. N.B. I also give and bequeath unto my wife Lucy Aldrich all the cows and heifers together with eight sheep and all my hogs and salt meat. I furthermore give and bequeath unto my son Edmund Tillson Aldrich and Demosthenes Aldrich my oxen steers, mare and colt to be appropriated to the use of the families. I further give and bequeathunto my daughter Esther Fisher Ballou an kin by a former wife or other husband two hundred dollars paper currency payable on demand by the Executor of this my last will and testament. I nominate constitute and appoint Edmund Tillson Aldrich and John G. Kip of the town of Lyons aforesaid executors of this my last will and testament to take care tha tthe same be performed according to my true intent and meaning. In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this thirty first day of January one thousand eight hundred and twenty three.
