Will of Parley Dean Town of Benton Probate: 1 June 1811 (LS) The People of the State of New York by the Grace of God Free and Independent: To all to whom these presence shall come or may concern send Greetings. Know ye that in the Town of Canandaigua in the County of Ontario the first day of June in the year of our Lord One Thousand Eight Hundred and Eleven before Reuben Hart, Surrogate of Said County, the Last Will and Testament of Parley Dean deceased /a copy whereof is hereunto annexed/ was proved and is now approved and allowed of by us; and the said deceased having whilst he lived and at the time of his death goods, chattels and credits within this State by means whereof the proving and registering the said Will and the granting Administration of all and singular the said goods, chattels and credits and also the auditing allowing and final discharging the account thereof doth belong unto us, the administration of all and singular the goods chattels and credits of the said deceased and anyway concerning his will is granted unto Elisha Brown and Abigail Dean Executors in the said Will named. In testimony whereof we have caused the seal of office of our said Surrogate to be hereunto affixed. Witness: Reuben Hart, Esquire, Surrogate of the said County at the Town of Canandaigua aforesaid the first day of June AD 1811 and of our Independence the thirty-fifth. Reuben Hart Ontario County. Be it remembered that on the first day of June in the year of our Lord one thousand and Eight hundred and Eleven, personally appeared before me Reuben Hart, Esquire, Surrogate of the County of Ontario, William Phillips, who being duly sworn did depose and say that he ,the deponent saw Parley Dean, late of the County of Ontario deceased, sign and seal the written instrument then shown unto him of which the following is a true copy purporting to be the last Will and Testament of the said Parley Dean, deceased, bearing date the 12th day of September in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and ten. That at the time thereof, the said Parley Dean was of a sound disposing mind and memory to the best of the knowledge and belief of him, the deponent, and that he the deponent and Elisha Brown and Truman Spencer subscribed their names as witnesses to the said Will in the presence of the Testator. Reuben Hart In the name of God, Amen, I, Parley Dean of the Town of Benton, in the County of Ontario and State of New York, considering the uncertainty of this mortal life and being of sound and perfect mind and memory, blessed be Almighty God for the same, do make and publish this my last Will and Testament in manner and form following. That is to day: First, I give and bequeath unto my beloved wife, Abigail, the use of one third part of all my lands and buildings as long as she remains my widow. Also, I give and bequeath to my beloved wife one riding horse and one cow. Secondly, I give and bequeath unto my beloved son, Parly Dean, Jr., one half of all my lands and buildings with the appurtenances and privileges belonging thereunto. Thirdly, I give and bequeath unto my beloved son, Leonard Dean, one hundred dollars to be paid in stock or grain out of my estate by my executors when he arrives at the age of twenty-one years. Fourthly, I give and bequeath unto my beloved daughter Arminda Dean, one hundred and twenty dollars to be paid in stock or grain by my executors out of my estate. Fifthly, I give and bequeath unto my beloved daughters Anna Dean, and Betsy Dean, one hundred dollars apiece, each of them to be paid in stock or grain out of my estate by my executors when they shall severally arrive at the age of eighteen years. Sixthly, I give and bequeath unto my beloved son Danforth Dean, all the remainder of my estate both real and personal, after paying all my honest debts and the legacies above mentioned. Seventhly, I give and bequeath unto my trusty and well-beloved friend Elisha Brown three dollars and him, together with my beloved wife Abigail, I make my Executors. Hereby revoking all former wills by me made in witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this 12th day of September in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and ten.
