Cleveland published in 1873 in Penn Yan, New York, pages 1063-64 in the chapter on the Town of STARKEY. GAMALIEL D. CONKLIN Was a native of Orange County, and was born in 1791. He was a son of Isaac Conklin and Catharine Van Duser his wife. In the War of 1812 he enlisted in the regular army for five years, and served the full term. In 1817 he came to Phelps, and there married in 1819 Elizabeth, daughter of Moses Ellsworth. He was a chairmaker, and soon after his marriage established a shop at Starkey Corners. After thirteen years residence there he moved to Tyrone, and died there in 1860. His wife is still living. Their children were George, Catharine, William E., Martha J., Aaron B., Joseph G. and Orilla.
