Power of Attorney
Written: September 27, 1821
Recorded: January 7, 1822

Know all men by these presents that I Hophni Smith of the town of Monroe in 
the County of Orange in the state of New York, have made ordained constituted 
and appointed and by these presents do make ordain constitute and appoit 
Archibald Smith of the same place, my true and lawful attorney for me and my 
name, place, and stead, to enter into and take possession of all such 
messuages, lands, tenements and hereditaments whatsoever in the state of New 
York whereof I now am or to which I may hereafter be in any wise entitled or 
interesested in either in severalty, Joint Tenancy or in Common and for me and 
in my name to Lease, Let and demise the same for the best rents that can be 
obtained for the said lands, tenements and Hereditaments. And also to grant 
Bargain and sell the same fot the best prices that shall be offered, and to 
make execute and acknowledge full and sufficient deeds and assurances in the 
law for the conveyance of the same in fee simple. And also for me and in my 
name to commence and prosecute suit or suits action or actions, for my lands, 
monies, or interests which I now have or hereafter may have in the said state 
of New York, and also for me in in my name and to my use to ask demand recover 
and receive all sums of money that are now due or that herafter may become due 
owing or payable to me in any way whatsoever and to take all lawful ways for 
the recovery of the same either by attainment distress or otherwise, and to to 
compound arbitrate and accrue for the same aquitannances and other sufficient 
receipts and discharges to give and execute for the same and to enter full and 
perfect satisfactionfor all judgements and mortgages that may now stand or 
that may herafter stand of Record in my name in any of the counties of said 
state and further to see and transfer all or any of the said Mortgages to my 
person or persons with whom he the said Archibald Smith may agree for the same 
and generally to do and perform, all and every act and acts that may be 
needful and necessary in the premises, as I might or could do if personally 
present.

In witness whereof, I have hereunto set my hand and seal at Philadelphia this 
twenty seventh day of September, in the year of our Lord, one thousand eight 
hundres and twenty one.                                Hophni
