MAPES, Clerk of the Orange County Court, SAMUEL BREWSTER, age 75 years, a resident of Monroe, County of Orange, State of New York, who being duly sworn according to law, declares that he is married; that his wife's name was MARTHA GIBSON to whom he was married at Monroe, NY, on the 28th day of February, 1826; that he served the full period of sixty days in the Militia service of the United States in the war of 1812; that he is the identical SAMUEL BREWSTER, private in Captain BENJAMIN HORTON company; Mustered in at Staten Island, NY, on the 30th day of September 1814 and was honorably discharged at Staten Island, NY, on the 8th day of December 1814; that he went as a substitute for GERSHAM CLARK and answered to said CLARK's name on the Muster Roll. At company roll call he answered to his own name; was discharged with the whole company at Staten Island, NY, at which place he performed camp duty for more than sixty days; that he, at no time during the late rebellion against the authority of the United States, adhered to the cause of the enemies of the Government, giving them aid or comfort, or exercised the functions of any office whatever under any authority, or pretended authority, in hostility to the United States; and that he will support the Constitution of the United States; that he is not in receipt of a pension under any previous act; that he makes this declaration for the purpose of being placed on the pension roll of the United States, under the provision of the act approved February 14, 1871, and he hereby constitutes and appoints, with full power of substitution and revocation, F. A. HOYT of Goshen, NY, his true and lawful attorney to prosecute his claim and obtain a pension certificate that may be issued; that his post office is at Monroe, County of Orange, State of New YUork, that his domicile or place of abode is Monroe, NY. MILLSPAUGH Also, personally appeared ISAAC TAYLOR, residing in Monroe, NY, and DANIEL VAIL, residing in Monroe, NY, persons whom I certify to be respectable and entitled to credit, and who being by me duly sworn, say: They were present and saw SAMUEL BREWSTER, the claimant, sign his name (or make his mark) to the foregoing declaration; that they have every reason to believe, from the appearance of said claimant and their acquaintance with him, that he is the identical person he represents himself to be; that at no time during the late rebellion against the authority of the United States did he adhere to the cause of the enemies of the Government, giving them aid or comfort; and that they have no interest in the prosection of this claim. /L.S./ ISAAC TAYLOR /L.S./ DANIEL VAIL Sworn to and subscribed before me, this 13th day of May A.D. 1871, and I hereby certify that the contents of the above declaration, &c., were fully made known and explained to the applicant and witness before swearing, including the words Cornwall, erased, and the words Mustered in at Staten Island, NY, added; and that I have no interest, direct or indirect, in the prosection of this claim. /L.S./ W. DEPARTMENT OF THE INTERIOR PENSION OFFICE Washington, D.C., Febr 7th, 1872 Sir You are hereby notified that your claim for pension, No. 12175, under act of February 14, 1871, has been allowed at eight dollars per month, commencing February 14, 1871, payable at the Pension Agency in New York. Your pension certifiate has been issued and sent to the Pension Agent at New York, who will forward to you, upon receipt thereof, and quarterly thereafter, proper vouchers for payment thereupon. The note indorsed upon said vouchers will explain when and how they shall be executed by you, and how the payment thereupon will be made.
