She was 73. The daughter of the late Herman and Elizabeth Kleingartner Walker, she was born March 15, 1932 in Cooks Falls, N.Y. Survivors include her three sons, Michael and his wife, Linda, of New Windsor, Randy and his wife, Cindy, of Cochecton, and Bart and his girlfriend, Kacey, of Gardiner; daughter, Connie Kenworthy and her husband, Peter, of Wallkill; brother, Ronald Walker and his wife, Catherine, of Montague, N.J.; four grandchildren: Michele, Kristi, Wayne Scott and Lisa Babcock; several nieces and nephews; and four step-grandchildren. Carroll, of Newburgh, a longtime area resident, entered into rest suddenly on Thursday April 7, 2005, in Horton Regional Medical Center, Middletown, N.Y., after a courageous battle with cancer. Diane was born July 31, 1948 in Queens, N.Y. She will be remembered for her great entrepreneurship, and will be dearly missed. Survivors include her mother, Alice Cafiero, of Valley Stream, N.Y.; her longtime companion, Richard Both of Newburgh; her children, Dianne Cheyne and her husband, Keith, of Clay, N.Y. and Brian Carroll of Binghamton, N.Y.; and their father, Robert Carroll of Arkville, N.Y.; her siblings: Christine, Mary Lou, Nicholas, Louis, and John; and several nieces and nephews. Goldfarb, Kenneth Kenneth Goldfarb, lifelong resident of Sullivan County, passed away on Wednesday April 6, 2005. He was 78 years old. A U.S. Army veteran, graduate of Monticello High School and North Carolina State School of Architecture, where he studied under Buckminster Fuller, Ken was a partner in the local architectural firm of Blech and Goldfarb. The Ted Streoble Monticello Neighborhood Facility, Crawford Senior Housing Project, the Jewish Community Center and Sullivan's Department Store were examples of his local work. Ken, later in his career, was also a partner in Habig and Goldfarb, a Middletown based architectural firm. He recently won the 2004 Sullivan Showcase Award for his design and renovation of the Eagle Plaza in Monticello. Involved in the community, Ken was a founding member of the Town of Thompson Environmental Council, longtime member of both the Town of Thompson and the Village of Monticello Planning Boards, as well as the Village Sign Committee. Ken was instrumental in envisioning and bringing to fruition youth programming, first in building "The Dome" and then in designing the Neighborhood Facility. For many years, Ken was involved in local politics. Active in the Vietnam anti-war movement, he ran campaigns for local candidates including Joe Garlick, and David Kaufman. Ken also ran the Sullivan County campaigns for Congressman McHugh and Presidential candidate George McGovern. Currently, Ken was an active and outspoken member of SPECS (Special Protection of the Environment for the County of Sullivan) and the Landfield Ave. Synagogue. His mind always nimble and inquiring, Ken was actively engaged in horticultural research. He holds two patents, one for a garden trellis system and the other for a municipal composting system. At the time of his death, he was working on a hydroponics system. Ken leaves behind his family, including his wife of 53 years, Barbara; his son, Mark and his wife, Joan Wilson, of Croton-on-Hudson, N.Y., and their children, Zoe and Madeleine, his son, James and his wife, Helen Rados, of Harris, N.Y. and their children, Eli and Joanna, his daughter, Lisa Goldfarb and her husband, Dermot Liddy, of Arlington, Mass., and their children, Rory and Ezra, and his daughter, Adrienne and her husband, Jim Austin, of Arlington, Mass. Ken is also survived by his sister, Anita Perlmutter of Monticello; several nieces and nephews; and many loving cousins, near and far. Funeral services will take place at Joseph N. He was a member of the Free and Accepted Masons, Elder of Little Britain Presbyterian Church, Little Britain Men's Council, member of Little Britain Grange #913, a World War II Army veteran. He was the widower of Barbara Hookey. June, Irene Formerly of Maryland, N.Y. Mrs. Irene June, 92, passed away Sunday April 3, 2005, at the Otsego Manor, Cooperstown, N.Y. She was born April 17, 1912 in Fort Montgomery, N.Y., the daughter of Joseph and Elizabeth (Doyle) Pohl. On December 3, 1931 she married Clarence J. June, Sr. in Cornwall, N.Y. He predeceased her in 1992. She loved to cook for her family and friends. She enjoyed feeding the birds with her many bird feeders and watching them. Survivors include her eight children: sons, Clarence Jr. of Walden, Gilbert of , Arthur of Stony Point, and William of Cooperstown; daughters: Caroline Stalter of Cooperstown, Barbara Lodine of Stony Point, Eileen Bramsen of Maryland, N.Y., and Sharon June of the state of Maryland; many grandchildren, many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her parents; her husband of 60 years; four brothers and three sisters. Kanan, Tressa Eleanor Tressa Eleanor Nutt Kanan, 88, of Brevard and formerly of Port St. Lucie, Fla. and Middletown, N.Y., entered into rest on Friday February 18, 2005. A native of Parsons, Kan., she was a daughter of the late Homer Benjamin and Sarah Patten Nutt. In 1930, she moved to Scotchtown, N.Y., where she worked on the family farm, and during her youth, she was well known as a teacher of penmanship to students of all grades. From 1938 to 1953 she owned Tressa's Beauty Shop on the corner of East Main and Orchard Streets in Middletown, N.Y. She was predeceased by her first husband, Arthur E. Olson, who was in the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, who was killed in Europe during World War II. She was the wife of Alphonso Kanan for 49 years before his death in 1999. She was also predeceased by two sisters, Ruth Branson and Jean Stevens. A loving mother, grandmother and aunt, she will be missed by her family and friends. Surviving her are two sons, Michael and his wife, Helen, of Brevard, and Rief and his wife, Nancy, of Goshen, N.Y.; two brothers, Homer Nutt of Wichita Falls, Texas and Frank Nutt of Orlando, Fla.; two sisters, Margaret Sliter of Lincoln, Neb. and Rachel Kolinsky of Middletown, N.Y.; six grandchildren: Tressa Jean, Gregory, Michael and Matthew Kanan, and Joseph and Patrick Rielly; and also many nieces and nephews. Her best times were spent with family and riding on the Green Belt Trail in Cold Springs. Born on June 9, 1918 in Haverstraw, N.Y., she was the daughter of Edward and Catherine Fox. She was married for 65 years to Donald L. McMillen, Sr., who predeceased her on November 27, 2004. She worked for several years in the cafeteria at Balmville School. She is survived by her three children: son, Donald L. Alice was born on January 15, 1915 in Brooklyn, N.Y., a daughter of the late Joseph D. and Anna C. (Beckmier) Gaudette. She was preceded in death by her husband, Thornton C. Miesner; two sisters, Grace Hillgierel and Dorothy Sadenwater; daughter-in-law, Fran Miesner; and son-in-law, Eugene Schweikhart. She was a faithful member of the Jenksville United Methodist Church and also enjoyed her memberships in the Berkshire, Newark Valley and Caroline Center Senior Citizens Clubs. In her earlier years, in addition to raising her family, Alice was a waitress at several different locations including the Goose Pond Restaurant in Monroe. She was an awesome cook, excelling in coffee cakes and bread pudding. Her hobbies included traveling, reading, crossword puzzles, dancing and playing cards. Ohnmacht, of Cocoa Beach, Fla. and formerly of Wurtsboro, N.Y., passed away March 19, 2005. He was 66. The son of the late Lawrence and Mary Ohnmacht, he was born April 21, 1938 in Brooklyn, N.Y. Larry was a line foreman for General Motors in Tarrytown, N.Y. for 31 years. He is survived by his wife, Clemencia Ohnmacht; one son, Lawrence Ohnmacht of Germany; one daughter, Kim Francois of Vermont; six grandchildren; three stepsons; two step-grandchildren; two sisters, Laura Gilleo of Middletown, and Mary Eckes of Tennessee; three nieces and several great-nieces and nephews. Son of the late Ferenc and Maria Abraham Vass, he was born on April 17, 1927, in Mako, Hungary. He was married to his loving wife Juliana Harfman Vass, for over 50 years. Geza worked as a Resident Manager in Rockland County. He also enjoyed his years that he spent as a Boy Scout Leader in Hungary and Austria. He was a member of St. Margaret's Hungarian Church in Yonkers, for many years. Besides his wife Juliana, survivors include, his sons, Geza Vass and his wife, Margaret, of Walden, Artie Vass and his wife, Darlene, of Pomona, and Albert Vass and his wife, Christine, of Oklahoma City; his daughters, Martha Marino and her husband, Harry, of Middletown, and Waltraudi Grunbart of Austria; his sisters, Joli and Gisella of Hungary; his grandchildren, Christopher, Heather, Erika, Julianna, Joseph, Sandra, Tanya, Stephen and Nadina; three great-grandchildren, Jasmine, Jayda and Justyce; and several nieces and nephews.
