Diane was born July 31, 1948 in Queens, N.Y. She will be remembered for her great entrepreneurship, and will be dearly missed. Survivors include her mother, Alice Cafiero, of Valley Stream, N.Y.; her longtime companion, Richard Both of Newburgh; her children, Dianne Cheyne and her husband, Keith, of Clay, N.Y. and Brian Carroll of Binghamton, N.Y.; and their father, Robert Carroll of Arkville, N.Y.; her siblings: Christine, Mary Lou, Nicholas, Louis, and John; and several nieces and nephews. Daughter of the late Francesco and Angelina Cardinale Monteleone, she was born August 11, 1930 in Sicily, Italy. She was married to the late Filippo Cullaro, who predeceased her in 2002. Rosalia was a parishioner of Sacred Heart Church and a member of Club 60. Survivors include her daughter, Angela LaDuca, of Newburgh; three brothers, Guiseppe, Vincent and Angelo Monteleone; grandchildren, Domenic and Philip Giafaglione and Nicholas and Philip LaDuca; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Gaffney, Judith Lynn Judith Lynn Gaffney, a 59 year resident of Marlboro, died April 8, 2005 at her daughter's home in Westbrook, CT. She was 59. The daughter of Charles Atkins and the late Thelma Quinn, she was born July 22, 1945 in Marlboro, NY. She was employed at IBM, Fishkill, NY, for more than 20 years, most recently as a parts and tool cleaning analyst. She was the former Varsity Cheerleading Coach at Highland High School and active supporter of school activities. In addition, she enjoyed volunteering her time to United Way causes. She was a dedicated and generous mother, grandmother, daughter and friend. Survivors include her children: Colleen and Richard Oremus of New York City and Meghan and Erik Olsen of Westbrook, CT and their father, Thomas J. Gaffney, Jr.; two grandchildren, Bruce Oremus of New York City and Jacob Olsen of Westbrook, CT; one sister-in-law, Marie Atkins; one niece, Noell and Chris Brand and their daughter, Madeliene; one nephew, Charles and Jennifer Atkins. He was 85. Born June 26, 1919 in Newburgh, he was the son of the late Joseph and Maria Kissam Maloney. He was the husband of the late Winifred Donohue Maloney who passes away in 1978. He was a Army Air Corp. Navigator in the Pacific from 1943 to 1946; a member of the Newburgh Softball Hall of Fame; Newburgh Optimist Club; Powelton Club and a communicant of St. Peter's Church in Saratoga Springs. A family statement read, "He loved all sports and was an avid golfer, loving father and true gentleman." Mrs. McClachrie was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star in Bergenfield, NJ. Frank was a member of the New Creation Christian Church in Newburgh and the Orange Lake Fish and Game Club. A man who valued his family was more than a husband, dad, grandpa, father-in-law, brother or cousin. He was your best friend, and those that are his friends were family. Frank loved the outdoors, enjoying all that it offered with countless memories of camping and fishing. He possessed a god given ability to encourage and council all that came to him. Having received Jesus Christ as his lord and savior, he displayed a genuine faith in God, leaving us with confidence. Pugh passed away on Friday, April 8, 2005 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center. She was 78. Phyllis was born on March 29, 1927 in Albany, NY to the late Peter Marinus Anderson and Edna Marie Danielson. She was predeceased by her husband of 56 years, Howard E. Pugh and two brothers, Dean and Dale Anderson. Phyllis was a devoted wife and mother whose greatest joy was her family. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, where she served in many capacities throughout her life. Most recently, she led the music in the Women's Relief Society, which she did for the last time on Easter Sunday. In her last five years, Phyllis coped with the devastating effects of a stroke and the loss of a limb with amazing courage and determination and with a heart filled with gratitude for her many blessings. Her cheerful optimism and sweet smile were an inspiration to everyone who knew her. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends. Steeley, 86, of Middletown and most recently of Queensbury, joined our Lord on Thursday evening, April 7, 2005 while residing at Westmount Health Facility in Queensbury. Born June 12, 1918 in Middletown, she was the daughter of the late Francis and Ethel (Gardener) Fish. Following high school graduation, Betty furthered her education with a Bachelor's degree at Alfred University, graduating class of 1941. Betty was an integral part of Middletown, being a longtime member and treasurer of the Middletown Unitarian Universalist Church; a member and treasurer of Middletown Business and Professional Women's Association; a volunteer for numerous community functions, with special mention to her dedication of endless hours at Middletown's Horton Hospital Accounting Department. Betty was also an avid bowler and card player, and was a great lover of animals. Her employment was with Fleet Bank in the Middletown area for many years until her retirement, which led her to travel extensively both in the U.S. and abroad. She always had her suitcase packed ready to go anywhere with dear friends at a moment's notice. Many friends she had indeed, which will, with her family, miss the twinkle in her eye, her smile, sense of humor, and kindness she shared with everyone who crossed her path. Besides her parents, her husband, Richard Steeley, predeceased her. Survivors include her family, who she was so very proud of: two sons, Tom Congalosi and his wife, Marie, of Danville, KY, and Don Steeley of Simi Valley, CA; one daughter, Dolores Steeley of Clifton Park; and four grandchildren: Peter Congalosi, Michael Steeley, and Darren and Megan Miles. She married and lived in Sussex, NJ and also Princeton, NJ, before moving to Manville. She worked as an accountant at the Soil Conservation of Sussex County before moving to Princeton. She then worked for Avis Car Rentals in Piscataway, NJ as an accountant bookkeeper. She was a dedicated, phenomenal employee. Kathy attended Alliance Bible Church in Warren, NJ. She was a member of the Parent Teacher Fellowship at Timothy Christian School. She was devoted to her family and loved them dearly. She was predeceased by her husband, Henry Systema Jr. (2004). Surviving are her children: Sarah Elizabeth, Matthew Ryan; daughters-in-law: Bethany Joy, Rebecca Ann and Deborah Lynn, all of Manville; her parents Joan and Francis Putnam of Warwick, NY; brother, Barry Putnam of Ithaca, NY, Beth Eurich and Karen Lavinski, both of Warwick. Vitagliano, Sr. Mary Geraldine Sr. Mary Geraldine Vitagliano, CSAC, Pallottine Sister, died April 7, 2005 at Schervier Pavilion, Warwick, N.Y., after a brief illness. She was 83 years old. Sr. Geraldine was born on August 15, 1921 in New York City, N.Y., daughter of Alfonso Vitagliano and Josephine La Pietra Vitagliano. She entered the Sisters of the Catholic Apostolate in Harriman, N.Y. on July 14, 1939. She made her first profession of vows on September 1, 1939 and her perpetual profession in 1947. This year she would have celebrated 65 years in religious life. Sr. Geraldine earned her Bachelor's degree in Math and Education from Fordham University; she later returned to Fordham to take a Master's degree in Educational Psychology and Guidance. Six years later she earned another Master's degree in Library Science from St. John's University, Brooklyn, N.Y. As a young Religious, her professional career centered on elementary school teaching in parish and community schools in New Jersey, Manhattan, Baltimore and the Bronx. Later she moved in administrative work as assistant principal and principal, including fifteen years as Principal of Holy Rosary Academy High School, Union City, N.J. During this period she served as evaluator and chairperson on eight teams of the Middle States Accreditation Association. In her third career she organized the Queen of the Apostles College Library and trained librarians for several of the Community schools. In her last assignment she served ten years as librarian and religion teacher for St. Benedict's Prep, Newark, N.J. In January 2002, ill health required her retirement to St. Patrick's Villa, Harriman, N.Y. Sister Geraldine was esteemed for her intellectual capacities, her administrative abilities and her professional achievements. She was an affable and creative person with broad interests and refined preferences. She loved literature and music, and traveled widely. She was always true to her Italian heritage. She is survived by one sister, Yolanda Izzo; one brother, Vincent; and nieces and nephews. Visitation will be on Tuesday April 12, 2005 from 3-5 PM and Wednesday, April 13 from 1:00-3:30 PM at St. Theresa's Chapel, Harriman Heights Rd., Harriman. The Funeral Mass will be held at St. Theresa's Chapel on Wednesday, April 13 at 3:30 PM. Burial will be in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Harriman.
