She was 64. Noelle was born on November 28, 1940 in Paterson, NJ. Noelle was a dear friend who loved her music, loved to dance and touched the hearts of everyone who knew her. Barbano, of Roscoe, formerly of Brooklyn, a retired District Service Supervisor for Brooklyn Union Gas Company and a longtime area resident, died Monday, April 11, 2005 at the Catskill Regional Medical Center, Harris. He was 91. The son of the Frank and Mary Bueno Barbano, he was born January 15, 1914 in Brooklyn. Tony was a very active resident of the nursing home. He built many of the holiday decorations that have been used over the years. Survivors include a brother, Edward Barbano of Florida; two sisters, Martha Alexander of Morristown, N.J. and Frances Montgomery of Florida; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife Fausta; three sisters, Mary, Rosie and Lucy and one brother, Frank. Burke, Janice Janice Burke, a resident of Campbell Hall for four years, previously of Poughkeepsie for 45 years, died April 9, 2005 at Elant at Goshen. She was 71. She was the daughter of Carl Francis Kesting and Katherine M. Douglas, born January 29, 1934 in Port Jervis, NY. She married Maurice M. Burke Sr. on May 28, 1960 in Holy Trinity Church in Poughkeepsie. Janice was a member of the Ladies Guild at St. Martin de Porres Church and of the Rosary Society at Holy Trinity Church. She graduated from Matamoras High School in Matamoras, PA. In the 50's Janice worked for DeLaval in Poughkeepsie, in the late 70's she worked for IBM in Poughkeepsie but was always a day care provider in her home. Janice was a devoted wife and loving daughter, mother, grandmother and sister. Cowen, Janice Janice Cowen, original owner of Cowen Kennels in Jeffersonville, passed away April 10, 2005 after a courageous battle with cancer. She was 55. Janice was the daughter of Amelia (Molly) Forsbach and the late William Forsbach. She is survived by her husband and best friend, Marshall Frances Cowen III; her two cherished daughters, Tanya Cohen, her husband Ken and granddaughter Gabrielle and Audra Everett, her husband Daniel and granddaughter, Samantha. She is also survived by her brother Christopher W. Forsbach and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and in-laws. Loulla Demetriou, a resident of Jeffersonville, formerly of Bergen County, NJ, former owner of the Star Restaurant in Stroudsburg, PA, died April 11, 2005 at Catskill Regional Medical Center, Harris, NY. He was 96. The daughter of Constantinos and Loukia Hadjioannou, she was born November 3, 1908 in Larnaca on the Island of Cypress. She was married to the late Miltiades Demetriou. She was a member and founder of the Greek Orthodox Church of the Acension in Fairview, NJ. A family statement reads: "She was a loving wife and mother to her husband, her daughter, her grandchildren, her great grandchildren, friends and family. She was proud of her Greek heritage; a tradition that will be carried on by generations to come." She was 85 years old. The daughter of the late Harold and Hattie Mae Kniffin Smith, she was born January 27, 1920 in Middletown. She married Edwin J. Distel in Middletown on September 3, 1955 and they had two daughters. Dorothy lived for others. In her lifetime she worked as a beautician, a sewing instructor for Singer Sewing Machine Co.; cared for patients as a nurse's aide, and served the Middletown School District as a teacher's aide for 28 years. She was also a member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church in Middletown. After retiring, she volunteered her time at Horton Hospital. Even as a resident in the nursing home, Dottie still tried to pitch in as long as she could. We'll remember her for her love of children, her care for animals, an avid gardener, and a great mom. She brought much joy to our world. She is survived by her loving daughters, Denise M. Distel of Marlboro, and Dorothy L. Distel of Rhinebeck; two grandsons, Edward Ettinger and his wife, Diana, of Rocky Hill, Conn., and David Ettinger of Marlboro. Dottie was predeceased by her husband, Ed, and her son Dennis James. Gambino, Lucy Lazzopina Lucy Lazzopina Gambino, of New Windsor, died on April 11, 2005 at Orange Regional Medical Center, Horton Campus. She was 88. Born on July 14, 1916 in New York City to the late Phillip J. and Lillian Larm Brown. Lucy had a great love for Columbia Presbyterian Medical Center where she worked for approximately 40 years in several different departments. Her final assignment was with Public Relations and she had a flair for that. She was appointed Associate Editor of the "Stethoscope," house organ of the medical center and staff photographer. If there was a function with important personages attending, Lucy was there with her camera. Lucy moved to Orange County in 1975 and was the editor and writer for the Life Line, a news letter for the Orange County Right to Life. She was honored for that accomplishment in 1998 with a dozen American Beauty roses after serving for 25 years in that capacity. Lucy is survived by a loving son, Joseph Philip Lazzopina; many nieces and nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. Joe married to Ann Geddes on May 25, 1947 at St. Margaret's Church in Pearl River and was employed with R.E.A Express in Hackensack NJ and in Westchester, Rockland County for 35 years. Parsons, Robert Wayne Robert Wayne Parsons, a longtime area resident of the area, passed away on Saturday April 9, 2005 at Memorial Sloan Kettering Hospital in New York. He was 70. He was the son of Charles and Lois Harrington Parsons and was born on July 14, 1934 in Ossining, N.Y. Robert was a retired Industrial Arts Teacher for the Monticello School District, Monticello, N.Y. He was a member of the NYS Archeological Society and a member of the Sullivan County Bass Masters Assn. He was a founding member of Cochecton Volunteer Ambulance Corp. and was also Past President. He served his country in the US Army from 1957 to 1959. Robert was the lead shooter for the US Army 4th Armored Division Pistol Team representing the United States competing against other NATO nations in the LeClerc match in 1958 and went on to win the match for the United States. A family statement reads, "RoPar was the best of the best- husband, dad, grandfather and friend. He exemplified all that was good, living his life to the fullest finding joy at the start of the day and contentment at days end. His love, compassion and wisdom touched all who knew him. He will be sorely missed." Survivors include his loving wife, Merle H. Rifkin Parsons at home; one son, Scott Parsons and his wife Debra of Clearwater FL; one daughter, Hallie Ramirez and her husband Adam of Liberty and five grandchildren, Daniel, Rebecca, Christopher, Adam and Jonathan. Rosman of New Hampton, a retired Dairy Farmer and lifelong resident of the area, died on Sunday, April 10, 2005 in Orange Regional Medical Center in Middletown. He was 69. The son of the late Eugene L. Rosman and Olive A. Ayers Rosman, he was born on November 13, 1935 in Middletown, NY. He was a member of the Denton Presbyterian Church. Santacroce, Catherine "Caye" Catherine "Caye" Santacroce, a lifelong resident of Newburgh, entered into rest on Saturday, April 9, 2005 in Fishkill Health Related Center. She was 97. The daughter of the late Vincenzo and Angela DiBenio Mastrota, she was born December 26, 1907 in Chicago, Illinois. She married Armand Santacroce on February 15, 1931 in Sacred Heart Church, Newburgh, who predeceased her in 1952. Caye was a graduate of Broadway School in Newburgh and the Robischaun Business School. She was a secretary for John J. Lease Real Estate for 40 years until her retirement in 1995 at the age of 87. She was also a parishioner of Sacred Heart Church, Newburgh. A family statement reads, "Caye was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and aunt. She will be greatly missed by all whose lives she touched." Survivors include her daughter Lorraine Santacroce with whom she resided with in Newburgh; her son Vincent Santacroce and his wife Leona of Newburgh; her grandchildren, Toni Piorro of Winter Park, FL, Robin Oster of Tampa, FL; her special great-grandchild Amanda Gilleo; her great-grandchildren, Jenna and Logan Oster, Kayli and Jesse Piorro; her sister-in-law, Rose (Santacroce) Smith of Cornwall and several nieces and nephews. John was a communicant of Gate of Heaven Church, Roscoe; a charter member and past captain of the Cooks Falls-Horton Fire Company; a former member of the Roscoe Kiwanis Club; the Roscoe-Rockland Senior Citizens and the Liberty Elk's Lodge #1545.
