He was a longtime employee of Dal/Tile in Brentwood. He was the beloved husband of Valerie; devoted father of Karen Porcella and her husband, Bob, and Ernest Jr. and his wife, Debbie; and cherished grandfather of Bobby, Justin Lewis and Ron Lewis, all of Walden. He was also the loving brother of Vincent, Catherine Bovino and her husband, Dom, Rosemarie Laezza and her husband, Tony, and Libby Radziewicz; and the uncle of many fond nieces and nephews. Cote, Emma Hannon Guinness Emma Hannon Guinness Cote, a homemaker and resident of Jacksonville, Fla. and Yankee Lake, N.Y. for most of her life, died Wednesday April 13, 2005, after a long and valiant struggle with myasthenia gravis at Orange County Residential Health Care Facility. She was 73. The daughter of William Freeman Guinness and Mary Mildred Ryan, she was born October 21, 1931 in Newburgh, N.Y. Emma was a member of St. Patrick's Church in Newburgh; a graduate of Mount St. Mary Academy in Newburgh; and graduate of the College of St. Elizabeth in Convent Station, N.J., with a B.A. in Math. Surviving her are several cousins, including Alma Guinness of New York, N.Y. and Barbara Ryan Perez of Newburgh; and many dear friends. She was predeceased by her husband, Paul L. Cote, who died December 7, 2003. There will be no public visitation. Coyle, Richard Richard Coyle, of Cornwall-on-Hudson, a retired painter, died April 13, 2005 at home. He was 66. The son of Thomas Coyle and Veronica O'Neil Coyle, he was born Oct. 17, 1938 in Manhattan. He was married to the late Patricia O'Rourke Coyle. Richard was an avid Giants Fan. Edward Curtis, a retired aviator and nurseryman, died April 13, 2005, at home after an extended illness. He was 75. The son of the late Valleau and Florence Curtis, he was born December 15, 1929 in Liberty, N.Y. With the exception of college and military service years, he was a lifelong resident of Callicoon. A Naval Aviator during the Korean War, he received the Distinguished Flying Cross and the Air Medal for "heroism and extraordinary achievement", carrying out a series of daring attacks on North Korean industrial facilities, a munitions factory, and anti-aircraft positions, while under heavy anti-aircraft fire on May 25, 1952. He received the Commendation Ribbon with Combat Distinguishing Device for an attack on heavily defended North Korean hydro-electric facility and power system on June 24, 1952. He was presented with a Navy commendation for rescuing a pilot from a burning aircraft on April 15, 1954. Lieutenant Junior Grade Curtis was Honorably Discharged from the Navy in 1955. A graduate of Syracuse University, he was President of the Callicoon Water Company and Executive Director of the Landscape Materials Information Service. Previously, he served as President of Curtis Nurseries; manager of the Sullivan County Airport; and chairman of the Town of Delaware Planning Commission. He also flew as a commercial pilot for Tsuga Air Charter Service. He had served on the Sullivan County Parks & Recreation Commission since 1964; he was a member of St. James Episcopal Church; and a reserve member of the Callicoon Volunteer Fire Department. Survivors include his wife, Theresa, at home in Callicoon; four daughters: Valerie and husband, Jerry Boss, of Decatur, Ga., Holly and husband, Phil Perdan, of Pella, Iowa, Jessie and husband, Jason Baade, of Modena, N.Y., and Christine Curtis of Fort Worth, Texas; his granddaughters are Dr. Diana Boss of Portland, Ore., and Phoebe Baade of Modena, N.Y. He is also survived by a brother, Robert and wife, Kit Curtis, of Damascus Township, Pa.; and a sister, Mary Curtis of Callicoon. Doolittle, a lifelong resident of the area and retired attendant with Middletown Psychiatric Center, died Wednesday April 13, 2005 at O.R.M.C., Horton Campus in Middletown, N.Y. He was 87. Son of Charles J. Doolittle and Edna E. Wood, he was born June 7, 1917 in Middletown, N.Y. He was a member of the First Congregational Church in Middletown and a member of C.S.E.A. He is survived by one daughter, Patricia A. Clauson of Middletown; three grandchildren: Debra Barber, Eleanor Roescher and her husband, Arthur, and Kenneth Clauson; and six great-grandchildren: Justin, Austin, Cody and Krystal Roescher, and Tyler and Kirsten Barber. She was a League Director for St. Mary's C.Y.O. in Washingtonville, and a member of the Little Britain P.T.O. On June 5, 1995 she married Anthony Fayo in St. Mary's Church in Washingtonville. Friedman, Jean Jean Friedman, a longtime Ellenville resident and the widow of Leon Friedman, died on Wednesday, April 13, 2005 at her home in Tampa, Fla. She was 78. Jean was born in Brooklyn, N.Y. on December 27, 1926, the daughter of Anna and Morris Bessner. Jean moved to Ellenville with her late husband Leon who owned and operated Ellenville Vending Company. Jean was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She was a member of Congregation Ezrath Israel Synagogue and the Ellenville Chapter of Hadassah. Kulcsar, Steve Steve Kulcsar, 86, quietly passed away on Sunday morning, April 10, 2005. Mr. Kulcsar was employed 40 years by Lever Bros. Co. in Edgewater, N.J., and retired as Supervisor of Mechanical Crafts. He was a graduate of N.Y. Institute of Photography and was an Officer in Ridgefield, N.J., Auxiliary Police. Mr. Kulcsar moved to Clintondale in 1981 and was a member of A.A.R.P. Chapter 975 in New Paltz, N.Y. He was born March 14, 1919 in Cliffside Park, N.J., the son of John Kulcsar and Elisabeth Szerdi Kulcsar. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Elizabeth Russell Kulcsar; four children: Steven and his wife, JoAnn, of Highland, N.Y., Robert and his wife, Nancy, of Mountainside, N.J., Susan Wittmann and her husband, Eric, of Dalton, Pa., and Karen Tulchinsky of Port Ewen, N.Y.; 11 grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren. Parsons, Clara Kowinsky Clara Kowinsky Parsons, 84, of Spring Creek Hwy, Crawfordville, formerly of Port Jervis, N.Y., died March 30, 2005 at Eden Springs in Crawfordville. Mrs. Parsons was born in Goshen, N.Y., November 15, 1920, the daughter of Charles and Jennie Kowinsky. She was a Sergeant Major in the United States Army and resided in Port Jervis before moving to Florida. She volunteered at the Crawfordville Elementary School until January, 2005 and received the Florida Outstanding Volunteer Award in 2004. She was a member of St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church of Port Jervis and St. Elizabeth Catholic Church of Crawfordville. She was predeceased by her first husband William E. Hames, March 23, 1953 and second husband George B. Parsons, November 16, 1997 and a brother Edward Kowinsky, March 22, 1975. The daughter of the late Nicola GianFrancesco and Filomena GianFrancesco, she was born December 19, 1919 in Cantalaupo Ne Sannio, Italy. She was a beloved mother and Nonna. A lady of tremendous character who was a devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Survivors include her daughter, Camilla and Anthony Maciocia of Plattekill; brothers, Gino GianFrancesco, Michael and Maria GianFrancesco of Plattekill; granddaughters, Adele and Michael Carey and AnnaMaria Maciocia of Plattekill; great-grandchild, Robert John Carey. The daughter of Leopold S. Macedon and Ena Muckle-Macedon, she was born on June 8, 1936 in Manhattan, N.Y. In July of this year she would have been married for 50 years to the late William H. Sutton, Jr. She was 68 years old. A retired Senior Clerk with the New York Public Library, and lifelong New Yorker, she moved to Chesapeake, Va. and lived there for ten years. She returned to New York in November, 2003, to live with her son and family in Washingtonville. Survivors include her son, William H. Sutton, III and his wife, Jessica, of Washingtonville; and her daughter, Margaret Ann Register and her husband, Joshua, of Dunedin, Fla.; two grandchildren, William IV and Victoria Sutton; two sisters, Gloria Branker and Olive Anduze; one brother, Leo Macedon and his wife, Laurell; and numerous nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. The daughter of the late Wilhelm and Maria Lerch Schwenz, she was born April 13, 1901 in Brooklyn, N.Y. Clementina, or "Jim" as she was known to many, lived most of her life in Liberty, having moved to Deltona, Fla. in 1998. She had worked for Dr. Lee R. Tompkins of Liberty for more than thirty years. In a family statement, "She will be greatly missed and lovingly remembered by many." Survivors include one daughter, Elizabeth Watson of Liberty; a daughter-in-law, Theresa Winand of Neversink, N.Y.; her grandchildren: Nancy Watson of Deltona, Fla., Tom Watson of New Jersey, Harry B. The daughter of the late John and Susanne Mislan, she was born May 18, 1917 in Trenton, N.J. She attended St. Mary's Church in Newburgh, was a member of Community Garden Club, the Powelton Club and active with the St. Luke's Hospital Auxiliary. She moved to Newburgh from Trenton after her marriage to Lt. Graham Witschief, who served in France during World War II. She is survived by two brothers and sisters-in-law, John and Ruth Mislan of Toledo, Ohio and Joseph and Carol Mislan of Lawrenceville, N.J.; one sister, Mary Smith of Seattle, Wash.; and many nieces and nephews.
