Bidwell, a retired machinist for Keiley Muller and a longtime area resident, died Monday April 11, 2005, in Middletown. He was 80 years old. The son of the late Carl and Ethel Jones Bidwell, Charles was born February 22, 1925 in Suffern, N.Y. A veteran of World War II, he proudly served his country in the United States Army Airforce. Charles is survived by his longtime companion, Doris VanDeMark, and her daughter, Lori Dahl, as well as her children, and several cousins. Cremation was held privately. Broughton, 92, of Middletown, passed away Friday April 15, 2005. She was born in Florida, N.Y. on September 12, 1912. Helen was a wonderful, devoted mother and a retired secretary for State Farm Insurance. She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Agnes Powers Packer; her beloved sister, Ruth Greenfield; and the love of her life, her husband and best friend for over fifty years, Raymond Broughton, a retired Middletown police officer. Helen is survived by her daughter, Ruth Hallenbeck of Las Vegas, Nev., and her son and daughter-in-law, Ray and Angelina Broughton of Highland Mills. She was the proud and doting grandmother of Andy Hallenbeck of Las Vegas, Nev. and Kristina Broughton of Highland Mills. Others include her loving cousin and friend, Kay Lee St. John, cousins, nieces and nephews. Helen had a great capacity to give love and in turn, was loved by many, including her friends and aides who gave her much comfort: Cindy Plant and Doris Benjamin. Sister was well-esteemed in the parishes where she worked and greatly enjoyed working with children. She was a very kind person and concerned for the poor. Born on June 7, 1925 in New York City, N.Y., she was the daughter of John and Elsie Wigger Hyatt. She was the widow of Lothar Knieriemen. Mrs. Knieriemen was a retired secretary with Mars and Mance, Florida, N.Y. and a parishioner of St. Stephen's Church in Warwick, where she served on the Altar Society and was a Parish Clerical Worker. She was a past Regent Court of St. Anne, Chapter 909; member of the Monsignor Pregenser Rosary Group; the Charismatic Prayer Group; and a volunteer with Meals on Wheels. A family statement reads: "She was a great Mom, at her finest when times were tough and especially when one of her children needed her. We all did. Those who knew her always say what a fighter she was, a woman of courage and strength. Bravely she faced life after the loss of her husband, Lothar, and throughout the many, many years she struggled with emphysema. She found comfort in her Catholic faith, the dear friends she made there and those she came to know at Creekside. Especially dear to Mom and the entire family is Mary Jankowski, a true friend and neighbor for over forty years. We want to thank all of you who visited her at home, in the nursing home and in her final days. We are grateful also for the compassionate care she received in St. Anthony's Hospital in Warwick. Daughter of the late Matthew and Elizabeth Jennings, she was born February 23, 1913 in New York City. She was married to the late Theodore J. Martel on October 18, 1941. Catherine was a lifetime member of the Dan Leghorn Engine Co. Women's Auxiliary, where she was the oldest living member, and a member of the Town of Newburgh Golden Age Club. We will greatly miss her smiling blue Irish eyes that always had a sparkle in them. She loved her family and her sunsets on Orange Lake, where she made her home for almost 65 years. Her greatest joy was having her grandchildren around her, especially her two newest great-grandsons, Johnny and Antonio, both 9 months old. Our mom was a kind, lovely lady who left us the legacy that family is everything. Our Sunday family dinners will not be the same without her. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served in the 101st Airborne Division and was discharged with the rank of Master Sergeant. He was highly decorated and earned many citations during his service in World War II and the Korean Conflict. He was a member of the VFW and the American Legion. Paschall, formerly of Harriman, NY, Middlehope, NY and most recently Berkeley Springs, WV, entered into peace on Wednesday, April 13, 2005 at Georgetown University Hospital, Washington, DC, surrounded by his large, loving family. He was born in Brooklyn, NY, January 27, 1928 to Agnes Dillon and Frederick O. Paschall. He was a proud, tough ex-marine and equally a gentle soul who brought the word "giving" to new heights. A retired conductor of the Erie Lackawanna/ Conrail Railroad, he labored long hard hours to support his wife Margaret and their nine children. His deep wisdom was only surpassed by his intense compassion for all humankind. He was a devout Catholic who lived what he preached, and though strapped for money, managed to send his children to Parochial school. Fred was vastly talented- he could build or fix anything. He was an artist, a writer, an avid Chess player and crossword fanatic, a hunter, carpenter and Master mechanic. He loved Classical music and opera, nature and the arts and had a passion for cooking. He had a joke for any occasion and knowing him, the first thing he did at the "Golden Gate" was to tell one to St. Peter. Frederick was a fervent defender of the Pro-Life Movement. He was one of the founders of "The Berkeley Springs Pregnant Group," which counseled and helped unwed mothers. He also supported the "West Virginia for Life Group." He was the key writer and president of the Catholic newsletter "Defender of the Faith." Frederick was an ordained Eucharistic Minister of the Roman Catholic Church. He was a past member of Our Lady of Mercy Church of St. Mary's parish in Marlboro, NY 1969-1992 and was currently a member of St. Vincent De Paul Church in Berkeley Springs. He was a devoted member of the Knights of Columbus and recently helped found a Catholic radio station, WDTF in West Virginia. He was the original founder of the "Santas Train Ride," which during the holidays, helped handicapped children of New York and New Jersey. Most importantly, he was a loving, devoted husband, brother, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He was predeceased by his daughter, Patricia Paschall Kiley, who passed on in 1977. He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Margaret Sowdon Paschall, of Berkeley Springs, W.Va; his sisters, Helen Mary Paschall of Yonkers, NY and special cousin Agnes M. Nette of Newburgh, NY; his loving sons, Frederick G. Paschall of Milford, Pa., Bryan F. Paschall and wife Helen of New Windsor, NY, Mark H. Paschall of Spingfield, Virginia, Gregory P. Paschall and his wife Phyllis of Middlehope, NY, William C. Paschall and his wife Paula of Middletown, NY and also grandson, Tavis Noel Kiley, raised as his son, now residing in Tokyo, Japan; daughters, Catherine Evans of Cragsmoor, NY, Louise Hoyt of Newburgh, NY and Nancy Frongello and husband Mark of Springfield, Va. Frederick is also survived by 18 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. Pawlak, Joseph S. Formerly of Middletown, N.Y. Joseph S. Pawlak, 94, of Fort Collins, Colo. and formerly of Middletown, passed away Saturday March 26, 2005. Joseph Stanley Pawlak was born November 15, 1910 in Florida, N.Y., the son of John and Regina Pawlak. Mr. Pawlak was a veteran of World War II, serving in the Army in North Africa and Italy. Mr. Pawlak worked in the printing business for many years. He retired in 1978 from Orange County Community College. Joe attended St. Joseph's Church, where he was active in the Holy Name Society and also as an usher. Joe married Frances "Fannie" Roselli on December 30, 1945. Mr. Pawlak is survived by two sons, Joseph R. and his fianc‚e, Nancy Wilson, of Plainsboro, N.J., and Robert and his wife, Susan, of Fort Collins; four granddaughters: Becky, Heather, Diane and Debbi; and five great-grandchildren. The daughter of Eugeneno and Ruperta Rosa Negron, she was born January 17, 1936 in Puerto Rico. She was a member of the Church of St. Mary and St. Andrew, Ellenville and the AARP. Survivors include her husband, Efrain Rivera, at home; a son, Ivan Rivera of Brooklyn; a daughter, Mitzi Santiago and her husband, Albert, of Grahamsville; six grandchildren; several sisters and brothers; and several nieces and nephews also survive. Wiltse, 76, of Riverview, Port Ewen, N.Y., died Friday April 15, 2005, at Ten Broeck Commons Nursing Home in Lake Katrine, N.Y. He was born May 16, 1928 in Walled Lake, Mich., the son of the late Joseph and Florence Rickett Wiltse. He was the husband of the late Arlene G. Wiltse. He was a veteran of the Korean Conflict and was stationed at Stewart Air Force Base in Newburgh, N.Y. He was retired from IBM in Kingston, where he was a Mechanical Design Engineer. He was a member of the IBM Quarter Century Club, and was a member of the Port Ewen Methodist Church. He took up golfing upon his retirement, and was a member of Apple Green's Country Club. Surviving is one son, Keith D. Wiltse of Forestburgh, N.Y.; and one daughter, Kim Voigt of Smithtown, L.I.; two brothers, Robert of Covington, La., and Louis of Desert Hills, Ariz.; and grandsons, William and Kyle Voigt.
