Vincent J. Borelli age, 53 of Ocean, NJ died Wednesday, April 20, 2005 at St Barnabas Hospice Center, Long Branch, NJ after a courageous battle with cancer. Mr. Borelli has a BA from Montclair State University and a MA from Hunter College of the City University of New York. He has a supervision certificate from Monmouth University. Born in Hoboken, he had lived in Long Branch before moving to Ocean 18 years ago. Mr. Borelli appeared in numerous theatrical productions. He was in his 33rd year of teaching in the Long Branch Public Schools as a speech and theatre educator. His present role was Head Teacher for the Visual and Performing Arts. Mr. Borelli was voted "Best Director" at the Bucks County Playhouse, 21 times. He coached his students to the following achievements; 27 District Champions and 17 State Champions in Forensics and Speech. His students also were named Speech and Forensic State Team Champions in 1984, 1990 and 1996. Mr. Borelli is the winner of the "Outstanding Teacher of Speech and Theatre Award" in 1998 by the Speech and Theatre Association of New Jersey, and earned the "Teacher of the Year" in 1988 and 2000 representing Long Branch High School and the Long Branch Public School's as "District Teacher of the Year." He was also the winner of the Speech and Theatre's "Distinguished Achievement Award" in 1990. The NAACP honored Mr. Borelli in 1993 with the "NAACP Freedom Award". The Long Branch High School Student council voted him the "Educator of the Year" in 1989 and 1996. He and Mrs. Angela Mangione-Borelli were voted "Man and Woman of the Year" in 1998 by the Figli di Colombo Society, Long Branch for their service in education. He was voted the "Outstanding Teacher of the Speech Arts" by the New Jersey Forensic League in 1999. Recently in May 2000, he won his fourth Governor's Award in Arts Education as the "Outstanding Educator of the Year" by the Very Special Arts Education of the Year in 2002. He was awarded the Monmouth County Arts Educator of the Year in 2003. Put all awards aside, his treasurers are his beloved wife, Angela Mangione-Borelli, formerly of Maybrook, NY; and daughters Annamaria and Antonia. Visitation will be at the Damiano Funeral Home, 191 Franklin Ave. (corner of Third Ave.), Long Branch on Sunday, April 24, from 1-5 pm. "Stobbie" Cherry, of Otisville, New York , passed away Friday, April 22nd, 2005 while in the company of family members at his residence. He was 77. He was the son of Henry I. and Mary Burke Cherry Born one of 23 children in Goshen, New York on January 24, 1928. He retired as a Dairy Farmer and as a laborer with the New York State Department of Transportation, Middletown. He is survived by his loving wife of 56 years Marjorie Fairweather Cherry at home, 4 sons Kenneth E. Cherry of Otisville, David F. Cherry and Jeffrey Cherry of Slate Hill and Douglas H. Cherry of Mount Hope; his daughter Beverly Brush of Huguenot 4 sisters Marion Lichwick of New Hampton, Maggie Lynch of Slate Hill, Alice Raymond of Port Jervis, Betty Napp of the State of Florida 3 brothers Richard Cherry, Robert Cherry of Cuddebackville, George Cherry of Middletown, 8 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Geib, of Port Jervis, a retired clerk-carrier at the Port Jervis Post Office and lifetime resident of Port Jervis, died Thursday, April 21, 2005 at his home. He was 87. He was born May 3, 1917 in Port Jervis, N.Y., the son of the late Phillip and the late Anna May Fahey Geib. He was married to the late Muriel V. Kelly Geib; she died Sept. 24, 1994. He was a member of St. Mary's R.C. Church; Knights of Columbus Council No. 471; AARP; Tri-States Naval Ship, VFW Post No. 7241 and was a former member of the German-American Athletic Club of NYC where he participated in many running events in the late 1930s. He was also a Navy veteran of WW II and a former member of the Port Jervis Elk's Lodge No. 645, BPOE. Surviving are son, Thomas Kelly Geib and his wife Laura of Hilton Head Island, S.C.; two daughters, Kathleen Dickson of Port Jervis, Jacqueline Burns and her husband Thomas of Port Jervis; sister, Mary E. Geib of Port Jervis; nine grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and several cousins, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a son, Michael and four brothers, Leo, John, Thomas and Stephen Geib. Pallazza, Maria Antonia (Anna) Maria Antonia (Anna) Pallazza, of Newburgh, entered into rest Thursday, April 21, 2005 in Wingate, Fishkill. She was 95. Anna was born June 26, 1909 in Stoneco, NY, a community near Poughkeepsie, and then moved to Cedarcliffe, just south of the Town of Marlboro. Her parents were the late Maria Vincenza Perillo and Federico M. Olympia. One of four sisters and five brothers, Anna and her family moved to 396 Washington Street in Newburgh in 1924, and she continued to live at this address for the remainder of her life. In 1935 she married Richard Pallazza, and had one son. She was a near lifelong member of Sacred Heart Church and a longstanding member of the Court Patricia Chapter of the Catholic Daughters. She greatly enjoyed her involvement in the Club 60 Group at the Delano-Hitch Recreation Park in Newburgh. Anna was generous in her support of family members as they experienced the joys and difficulties of life. She learned to read and write in the Italian language so she could provide aid and assistance to family members in Italy during the distressing period at the end of WWII. She comforted her mother and father and eased their passage at the end of their long lives. Anna survived serious illnesses and went on to live for many years in good health and with an excellent mind. She will be remembered for her kindness and generosity, and will be dearly missed. Anna was preceded in death by her husband, Richard, in 1986, and her brothers, Dominic, Peter and Gerald Olympia. She is survived by her son, Richard Pallazza and his wife Maureen of Winston-Salem, NC.; grandsons Stefan and Brant of Minneapolis, MN; great-granddaughters, Mia and Samantha; brothers, Joseph and Daniel Olympia; sisters, Rose Terenzi, Irene Parisi and Josephine Dattoli, and numerous nieces and nephews. The family will receive their friends from 2-5 pm on Sunday, April 24 at the Brooks-DiDonato Funeral Home, 481 Gidney Ave., Newburgh. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9:30 am on Monday, April 25 in Sacred Heart Church, Newburgh. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, New Windsor. Robbins, Nelson Dean NELSON DEAN ROBBINS Monticello, N.Y. Nelson Dean Robbins, 68, of Monticello, died Wednesday, April 20, 2005 at home. He was born on April 18, 1937 in Hawley, Pa, the son of Daniel and Thelma (Harrison) Robbins. Nelson was a dedicated employee of Prudential Life Insurance Co. for 30 years and was a member of the Red Horse Hunting Club, Claryville, NY. He and Patricia Durland were married on January 15, 1965 in Monticello. She predeceased him on January 1, 2004. Nelson grew up in Hancock before moving to Monticello and enjoyed spending time with family and friends in the outdoors, hunting and fishing. Nelson is survived by two sons, John Robbins of Longmont, CO and Jeff Cook of North Easton, MA; his father, Daniel Robbins of Hancock; one brother, Dale of Hancock and four sisters, Jean Kromm of Pennfield, Joyce Swartwout of Hancock, Jane Roney and Carolyn Marsh, both of Waymart, PA. He is also survived by one granddaughter and several nieces and nephews. Calling hours will be held at the Henderson-Biedekapp Funeral Chapel, Hancock on Sunday, April 24 from 4 to 7 p.m. Funeral services will be held at the chapel on Monday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Slater, Doreen Doreen Slater, a former resident of Sullivan County, passed away on Tuesday April 19, 2005 at her home in Shelbyville, KY. She was 81. Doreen was the daughter of John and Annie Rowley Purvis and was born on March 23, 1924 in Brook, County of Durham, United Kingdom, England. She was the widow of Eugene A. Slater who died in 1984. After living in Sullivan County, they moved to Florida for 40 years. Doreen then moved to Kentucky to be near her daughter. She was employed as an electronics technician for Cordis Medical Electronics in Miami, Florida. She was a veteran in the Royal Air Force in England. She was also a member of Shelby Christian Church in Shelbyville, KY. Survivors include a son, Robert C. Slater and wife Mary of Hollywood, FL; 2 daughters, Barbara A. Edington and husband Charles S. of Shelbyville, KY and Betty J. Passaro and husband Donald of Livermore CA.; 10 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren. She was predeceased by a brother, Jackie Purvis, a half-brother and 2 half-sisters. Visitation will be private.
