Beatrice Charters (nee: Robinson) of Monroe, formerly of Paramus, N.J., died August 25, 2005. She was 77 years old. The daughter of George Robinson and Beatrice Graham, she was born July 14, 1928 in Jersey City, N.J. She was the widow of Arthur Charters, who predeceased her in 2002. She was the devoted mother of Arthur Charters, Jr. of Highland Mills, Jack Charters and his wife, Natalie, of Paramus, N.J., Jim Charters and his wife, Barbara, of Harriman, N.Y., and Kathleen Mahoney and her husband, Joseph, of Harriman, N.Y. She was also the loving grandmother of Kristen, John, Daniel, Ellyn, Jennifer, Jimmy and Mike; and the dear sister of George Robinson of Denville, N.J. Family will receive their friends on Sunday, August 28, 2005 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Vander Plaat Memorial Home, S113 Farview Ave., Paramus, N.J. Crowdes Jr., George Jackson George Jackson Crowdes Jr., a retired electrical engineer, died at his home in Contoocook, NH on Friday, August 5, 2005. He was born in Boston on July 20, 1926, the son of George Jackson Crowdes Sr. and Signe Anderson Crowdes. He was married for fifty years to Helen (Landsdowne) Crowdes, who died in 1998. He was retired from the Beede Electrical Instrument Company in Penacook, NH, where he worked for 30 years and was the Vice President of Engineering and Engineering Manager. He attended the Boston Latin School and graduated from Northeastern University with a bachelors in chemical engineering after serving in the Pacific in the United States Navy in World War II. Besides electronics he enjoyed boating, bowling and bridge, reading, carpentry and pinochle. For many years he was active in St. Andrew's Episcopal Church in Hopkinton, NH, where he sang as a tenor in the choir, trained as one of the first lay Eucharistic ministers, and helped out with the physical plant, serving for a number of years as the Chairman of the Property Committee. He is survived by his stepmother Ruth Crowdes of Tucson, AZ; daughters Nancy C. Newton and her husband Jeffrey of Goshen and Margret S. Crowdes of Cardiff-by-the-Sea, CA; sons George J. Crowdes III and his wife Martha of Bivalve, MD and Jonathan R. Crowdes and his wife Gail of Warner, NH; brother Dr. Robert L. Crowdes of Tucson; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. A memorial service was held on Saturday, August 20 at St. Andrew's. Committal services followed at the memorial garden. Foeller, Muriel Muriel Foeller, of Middletown N.Y., died on Wednesday, August 24 at Park Manor Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center in Middletown. She was 85. The daughter of the late Michael Francis and Veronica Kinney, she was born on March 11, 1920 in Bronx, N.Y. Muriel worked in retail sales and at one point in her lifetime she worked alongside Elizabeth Arden in an office in NYC. She married Orville H. Foeller, who predeceased her in 1972. Muriel was a devoted member of Grace Episcopal Church in Middletown, where she served as a member of the Altar Guild. She was also a volunteer for St. Margaret's Soup Kitchen at Grace Episcopal Church. Muriel was a founding member and president of the Widow and Widowers chapter in Orange County. She is survived by two sons, Michael Foeller of Middletown and Orville Pete Foeller of North Carolina. Muriel was predeceased by her husband, one brother and a sister and companion Ray Lounsbury. Hooftman, Gerardus T. Gerardus T. Hooftman, 82, of Milford, Pa., died on Thursday, August 25, 2005 at Milford Senior Care, Milford, Pa. He was a retired service manager for Casler Motors, Pompton Lakes, N.J. The son of Peter and Margaret (Vanderstam) Hooftman, he was born in Boskoop, Netherlands on November 7, 1922. He was married to Marianne S. Kluis. Survivors include his wife; one daughter, Sophia Altvater of Milford, Pa.; one son, Peter Hooftman of Norfolk, Va.; one brother Jan Hooftman of Boskoop, Holland; one sister Ennike Vogel of Emmen, Holland; three grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Burial in Delaware Cemetery, Dingman's Ferry, Pa. will be at the convenience of the family. Born July 5, 1944 in Brooklyn, N.Y. and raised in Walden, N.Y., she was the daughter of Ann Michel Lindsay and the late Thomas Lindsay. Mrs. Kocsis was the Parish Administrator at St. Peter's Lutheran Church for 11 years. She was preceded in death by a grandson, Jonathan Davis. Surviving in addition to her mother are her husband, Charles W. Kocsis; son Charles Kocsis and wife Darcy of Wallkill, N.Y.; daughter, Cynthia Davis and husband Ernie of Walden, N.Y. and grandchildren, Kyle Davis, Lindsay and Jamie Kocsis. Nowell, Mary Lei Mary Lei Nowell, of Monticello, passed away on Tuesday, August 23, 2005 at home. She was 61. The daughter of Floyd and Esther Gerber Nowell, she was born on February 8, 1944 in Honolulu, Hawaii. She was predeceased by her father, Floyd Nowell who passed away in 1994. Mary leaves behind her loving mother, Esther of Hawaii; two sisters, Daphne Nowell of CA; and Linda Garrison of Nebraska; one niece, Esther Marie Garrison; one nephew, Duane Garrison; as well as many loving friends in Hawaii and the Syda Yoga Community. Edward J. O'Meara, 83, of Estero, Fla., passed away Wednesday, August 24, 2005. A former resident of Slate Hill, NY, he had resided in Naples and Estero since 2000. He attended the New York School of Professional Arts. His education was interrupted due to the war when he decided to join the Army Air Corps. During the war, he was a flight engineer on a B-24 Liberator with the 15th Air Force 456th Bomber Group. He flew 26 missions over Italy and Germany reaching the rank of Sergeant. After the war, Mr. O'Meara worked for New York Telephone. His passion was wood carving and was awarded many ribbons for his decoy carving exhibits in New York. He was a past American Legion Post Commander in New York, an avid fisherman and a member of the National Woodcarvers Association. He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Dorothy A. O'Meara of Estero, Fla.; two daughters, Maureen M. O'Meara-Nolan of Estero, Fla. and Kathleen A. O'Meara of Bonita Springs, Fla.; two granddaughters, Kelly K. Nolan of Estero, Fla. and Kara M.
