She was 59. The daughter of the late Joseph and Betty Smith Gennosa, she was born January 12, 1956 in Oneonta, N.Y. JoAnn had been a long-time bus driver for the Roscoe Central School. Survivors include her husband, Jerry Ackerley, Sr., at home, three daughters, Betty Jo Mootz and her husband Scott of Roscoe, N.Y., Stephanie Ackerley at home, and Kimberley Burke of Little Chute, Wis., one son, Jerry Ackerley, Jr. and his wife Christina of East Branch, N.Y., her father-in-law, Carl Ackerley of Roscoe, N.Y., son-in-law, Dan Burke of Albany, N.Y., her grandchildren, Randall, Katelyn and Kevin D'Addezio, Jerry Joseph and Jena Rose Ackerley, Christian Mootz and Anna Campbell and several nieces and nephews. Carpenter, Norma Norma Carpenter, 78, of Earlville, N.Y., passed away Sunday, August 28, 2005 at Chenango Memorial Hospital in Norwich, N.Y. Born February 4, 1927 in Earlville, she was a daughter of the late Harold and Myra Comstock Geer. She attended Earlville schools and the Central City Business Institute in Syracuse. On July 5, 1947, Norma was married to Carl Carpenter, Jr. in Hamilton. Mr. Carpenter predeceased her on November 3, 1979. A lifelong Earlville resident, Norma worked for the Norwich-Sidney Pennysaver for over 31 years until her retirement on February 14, 1992. Mrs. Carpenter was a member of the Church of the Epiphany in Sherburne; and the American Legion Post #236 Auxiliary of Earlville. She was an active member of the Earlville Senior Citizens and the SNACK Program. Norma was a devoted Yankees fan; and she played softball until the age of 53. She loved snowmobiling, playing shuffleboard, doing jigsaw puzzles, and e-mailing family and friends. She was an avid bowler at Hi-Skor Lanes in Earlville, and enjoyed playing Bingo in person and online. She traveled overseas and even kissed the Blarney Stone. Surviving are three sons and daughters-in-law: David and Tina Carpenter of Johnson City, John and Catherine Carpenter of Sherburne, and Richard and Alice Carpenter of Smyrna; a daughter and son-in-law, Joyce and William "Bill" Morgan III of Earlville; two sisters, Dorothy Lehman of Hamilton, and Patricia Peters of North Branch; two brothers, Robert Geer of Earlville, and Kenneth Geer of Gilbertsville of Gilbertsville; 13 grandchlidren; 5 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by two sons, Robert Carpenter in 1999 and Ronald Carpenter in 2003; a brother, Charles Geer in 1990, and a grandson, William Morgan IV in 1987. The daughter of Peter and Katherine Gaffrey McDonough, she was a graduate of Queens College and received her Master's Degree from Hunter College. She was employed as a School Teacher and was also a homemaker. Imelda was married on August 23, 1952 to James Davis, Jr. She was a member of the Sacandaga garden club and was a communicant of St. Francis Church and a member of the Rosary Soceity. Survivors include her husband James Davis, Jr. of Edinburg, three sons, James G. Davis of Montvale, N.J., Robert F. Davis and wife Karen of Westchester, Pa. and Brian M. Hackett Sr., Rufus Rufus Hackett Sr., a 29-year resident of the area, passed away at his home on Friday August 26, 2005 with his family at his bedside. He was 64. He was born in Greenwood, S.C. on June 25, 1941 to Elizabeth Moore Hackett and the late Earley Hackett. He had worked as a security guard at the former Community General Hospital in Harris before it became Catskill Regional Medical Center. He was married early in life to the late Viola Virginia Coleman Hackett, who died in 1988. He married Ernestine Holman-Gandy in 1995. He was 86. The son of the late George and Susan Pupach Lipay, he was born on December 9, 1918 in Youngstown, Ohio. He was married for 58 years to the late Yolanda Ravenger Lipay who passed away August 26, 1997. George attended Prague University and was a veteran of World War II, having been awarded the Purple Heart. Kathryn worked as a Records Clerk at Orange Regional Center, Horton Campus for over 20 years until her retirement. She was a member of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church in Middletown. Born to Henry and Bessie Terry Lines in Unionville, N.Y. where she was a lifelong resident. Mrs. Winters had worked at American Silk Label Mfg. Co. in Unionville, N.Y. and was a member of the Unionville Presbyterian Church. She was also active in the church choir since she was 11 years old and served as a deacon as well as being the church's oldest member. She was a member of the Presbyterian Women's Society, a 4-H leader and was a member of the Unionville Senior Citizens. Beloved wife of the late Raymond Winters, who predeceased her in 1964; she is survived by three daughters: Ruth Winters of Stroudsburg, Pa., Terry Sheffield of Rockaway, N.J., and Holly Wilbur of Westtown; seven grandchildren: Joseph and Lisa Rowinski, Brian and Robert Sheffield, Erin, Ryan and Jodie Wilbur; and five great-grandchildren.
