The son of the late William & Hilda Behnke, he was born on August 8, 1919 in Florida, N.Y. Mr. Behnke was a member of the Middletown Elks and was recently awarded a 60 year service pin. He was the widower of Reba Behnke. Chalupa, Anne Anne Chalupa, a housewife and 34-year area resident, died Tuesday, December 6, 2005 at St. Teresa's Nursing Home, Middletown. She was 76. The daughter of the late George Carpenter and Virginia Holopigian Carpenter, she was born April 9, 1929 in Cambridge, Mass. She was the widow of John S. Chalupa. Survivors include her son, George J. Born Elvira Scotto D'Abusco on June 10, 1904 in Monte Di Procida, Italy to the late Dominic Scotto D'Abusco and Guistina Carranante who were farmers in Italy. In September 1920 they decided to move to the United States in search of a new life. They arrived in the United States at Ellis Island on the SS Italia and became residents of Middlehope with her seven sisters and one brother. When Elvira was 19, she met Anthony "Tony" Cimorelli Sr. while he was rolling a barrel hoop with a stick, they fell in love and married in 1923 and moved to the house she still lived in, located in New Windsor. Elvira and Tony ran E & T Luncheonette and gas station during the war years and retired in 1968. She was the cornerstone of New Windsor and a fount of local information; she will be missed by all. Survivors include her five grandchildren Rick "Doesty" Cimorelli, Anthony "Butch" Cimorelli, Linda Wutch, Michael Cimorelli, Jeanne Cimorelli, eight great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. She was 85 years old. The daughter of the late Jefferson Nathaniel and Lillie Jane Addison Cook, she was born on April 6, 1920 in Russell County, Va. She is survived by her son, Edward Meade, and his wife, Beverly, of Clearwater, Fla. and her daughter, Barbara Henderson, and her husband, Thomas, of Middletown; six grandchildren: Ralph, Donald, and Guy Edward Courtney, Robert Lynn, Kimberly and Connie Meade; eleven great-grandchildren: Danielle Lee, Sean Edward, Devin, Michael, Tyler, Brandon, Randi Lynn, Meagan Lucy, Elizabeth, Rebecca, and Benette, as well as several nieces and nephews. Ferguson, 88, a retired plumber with USMA at West Point, died December 6, 2005 at home surrounded by his family. Born August 5, 1917 in Walden, he was the son of Pierre Ferguson and Sadie Axelby. He was a member of the Black Rock Fish & Game Club, Mountainville, N.Y. Kenny, Theresa A. Theresa A. Kenny of Newburgh, a longtime resident of the area, entered into rest on December 5, 2005 at home. She was 75. Theresa was a woman of adventurous spirit, she loved the outdoors. She also loved hiking, camping and traveling with her family. In addition, she enjoyed reading and history. Her quest for knowledge never faded. Daughter of the late Daniel McKeegan and Mary Gromley, Theresa was born October 29, 1930 in Greenpoint, Brooklyn. On August 14, 1950, Theresa married her devoted and loving husband, Charles A. Kenny at Offutt Air Force Base in Nebraska. He was 74. The son of the late Edward R. and Hilda Jerowe King, he was born on January 28, 1931 in Indianapolis, Ind. He was the widower of Jessie Lee Bishop King. A veteran, Mr. King served in the US Air Force during peace time. Survivors include his children, Shar Clements, Kathy Cowan, Carol Harrell and Richard King; his brothers, George and Leon King; his sisters, Agnes Van Aken and Amy King; his companion, Marjorie Carter; 15 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren;and many nieces and nephews. Born Dec 3 1937 Salt Lake City, Utah, John is survived by his wife Judith Smith Lemperle, married April 5, 1961 in the SLC Temple, his children Lori Lemperle (Lester) Countryman, Lani Lemperle (Alfredo) Diez, Lynae Lemperle (Raymond) Mesaris, David J. (Karen) Lemperle, Cristy N. Lemperle, Michael J. Lemperle, and Andrew J. Lemperle, his brother Alvin F. Lemperle and sister-in-law Beverly Lemperle, mother-in-law Evelyn Smith (wife of Richard K. Smith - deceased), sisters-in-law Bobbie (Dale) Tippets, Patti (Dale) Hall, and his 13 grandchildren. He attended West High in SLC, U of U/Bachelor's degree, ISU/Master's degree, and NYU/Doctorate degree. An Eagle Scout award recipient, John also held the 1956 HS Javelin World Record, four-time N. American Triathlon Champion and served a LDS mission to Hawaii (1957-1959). He served in the UT National Guard and Army. He was a teacher and a professor at USMA at West Point. Throughout his entire life he served, loved and taught others. In his latest challenge with ALS, John continued to serve and inspire others. No matter where you are, we will always feel you near. Rickard, Marie Marie Rickard, loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and 33-year area resident, died peacefully in her home on December 7, 2005 surrounded by her family. Born in Brooklyn, she and her devoted husband Walter, began raising their six children in Jamaica and Floral Park, N.Y., before moving to Otisville in 1973. Marie lived a life full of generous service. She was a wonderful homemaker and throughout her life was active in church and community affairs. After the last of her children began school, she worked as a teacher assistant for 10 years in the NYC public school system. She served Holy Name Catholic Church, Otisville as President of the Parish Council, Lector, Eucharistic Minister and Catechist. Marie also served at Horton Hospital as a Eucharistic Minister. A member of the Minisink Valley School Board for 10 years, she served as Vice President from 1985-1988. Marie was one of the founding board of directors of the Mount Hope Monitor and also served as the advertising manager. She was a volunteer for Meals-on-Wheels, AHRC, literacy training and many other worthy causes throughout her life. She was also a member of the Otisville Lions Club and Garden Club. Marie was the number one cheerleader at sporting events involving her children and grandchildren. Marie was a woman of great leadership ability, faith and compassion. Her boundless energy and enthusiasm for God, people and life was contagious. A tremendous example and mentor for her children and grandchildren, Marie had a powerful impact on the lives of many people. Schmidt, Mary Frances Low Mary Frances Low Schmidt, a lifelong Pine Bush resident, passed away on December 6, 2005 at Orange Regional Medical Center, Arden Hill Campus. She was born on September 17, 1924, the daughter of the late Mary Frances Low Chase and William Low of Pine Bush. Mary was retired from US Postal Service where she was a rural carrier out of Wallkill for 23 years. Mary really enjoyed her job, but was forced to retire due to back problems. She was a member of the Pine Bush Senior Citizens. She also belonged to the Ladies Auxiliary of G. Paul Bettinger Post 1308. Mary was a former member of The New Prospect Church. Mary was predeceased by her husband of 48 years, Alfred Schmidt. Survivors include her brother, George Low of Pine Bush; one stepsister Iola Held of Connecticut; a stepbrother Harvey Chase of Arizona. She was predeceased by a stepbrother Fred Chase. She is also survived by her only son, Alfred and his wife Lori of Wallkill and their two sons, Michael and Christopher Schmidt; her daughter, Dr. Tracey Schmidt DeYoung and her husband Dennis; her daughter Robin Cozzette and her husband James of Middletown; one special niece that was by her side Janet Weed of New Hampton; many nieces, nephews, cousins, neighbors and many, many wonderful friends especially her best friend, Stacia A. Kelley of Pine Bush. She will be missed by her four beloved cats. A family statement reads, "Mom gave her family and friends the true meaning of love. She taught us you don't have to have a lot of money to have a rich life. Family, friends and her cats meant the most to mom. She cherished her only two grandchildren, Michael and Christopher. Stolinas, Ben Mr. Ben Stolinas of Matamoras, PA died Tuesday, December 6th at home with his family by his side. He was 86. He was born October 26, 1919 in Inkerman, Pa. the son of the late George and the late Anna Tomasiunas Stolinas. In the 1960s and 70s Ben was a Furniture Refinisher for many prominent New York City Interior Design Firms. He later went on to work as Custodian for the Delaware Valley School District in Milford, Pa. Ben proudly served his country during World War II in the U.S. Army in the 98th Signal Battalion. He was a member of St. Joseph's R.C. Church, Matamoras and the Roosa Fleming VFW Post #161, Port Jervis, N.Y. A family statement read: "Ben was an avid billiard player, and often entertained people by playing the harmonica." Tompkins, Rosemary Irene Rosemary Irene Tompkins died on December 6, 2005 at her residence in St. Augustine, Fla. She was 75. Born on December 23, 1929 in Elmhurst, N.Y., she was the daughter of the late William and Julia (Meyer) Horning. Mrs. Tompkins was a senior typist for Putnam County Social Services, retiring in 1991. A long-time Putnam Valley resident, she and her husband, George P. Tompkins, retired to Whitehall, N.Y. and finally to St. Augustine, Fla. in 2002. Survivors include her husband, at home, one daughter, Anne Jacob of St. Augustine, Fla., one son, George P. Tompkins and his wife, Catherine, one brother, William Horning of Port Richey, Fla., three grandchildren: Ellen, Katie, and Ryan, also survive.
