(Gallagher) Anne H. Cook (nee Gallagher), of Oakland, N.J., died Friday, December 16, 2005. She was 98 years old. She was the loving wife of the late Robert Cook (1983); devoted mother of Barbara West and her husband, Richard, Bernadette O'Donnell and her husband, Jim, and the late Robert Cook (2003). She was also the devoted grandmother to eight grandchildren and great-grandmother to five great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband and son, she was predeceased by a granddaughter, Kerri Ann O'Donnell (1992). Funeral Services will take place at 10 a.m. from the Oakland Memorial Home, 330 Ramapo Valley Road (Rt. 202), Oakland, N.J. on Tuesday, December 20, followed by a Funeral Liturgy at 11 a.m. at Our Lady Queen of Martyr's R.C. Jannotti of New Windsor, a longtime resident of the area, entered into rest Friday, December 16, 2005 in Arden Hill Hospital, Goshen. She was 93. Daughter of the late Raphael and Vincenza Proietti Delarede, she was born November 14, 1912 in New York City. She was married to the late Alphonse Jannotti, who predeceased her in 1990. Mary was a sewing machine operator for Ellen Kate in Newburgh for many years; was a member of I.L.G.W.U., and a member of Card Club at the Newburgh Recreation Center. Survivors include her two sons, Richard Jannotti of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla. and Thomas Jannotti and his wife, Margaret, of Newburgh; her daughter, Regina Taylor and her husband, Robert, of Newburgh; her grandchildren: Santina Jannotti and Francesca and Roseanne Ronsini; her great-grandchildren, Christopher Bowman and Katherine Ronsini; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by five brothers: Joseph, Alfred, Michael, Anthony and John, and a sister, Rose Nunez. Johnathan D. Morizzo of Cornwall, an Electric Technician for Creative Design in Rock Tavern, N.Y., died Friday, December 16, 2005 in New Windsor, N.Y. He was 19 years old. The son of Nicholas L. Morizzo and Kim Aldrich, he was born June 28, 1986 in Newburgh, N.Y. He is survived by his father, Nicholas L. Morizzo of Cornwall; his mother, Kim Aldrich of Rochester, N.Y.; four brothers: Daniel, Anthony, Tyler and David; two sisters, Ariel and Michele; his grandparents: Nicholas L. Morizzo Sr. of New Port Richie, Fla., Ann Mae Gilner Morizzo of Manahawkin, N.J., and Bob and Jane Aldrich of New Windsor. Payne of Wurtsboro, a lifetime resident and homemaker, died December 17, 2005 at her home. She was 81. The daughter of William and Sarah Mae Reynolds Strickland, she was born March 4, 1924 in Plattekill, N.Y. She was the widow of Clyde Payne. Survivors include her son, Donald Williams and his wife, Kathy, of Rapid City, S.D.; three daughters: Betty Distel and her husband, Butch, of Napanoch, Carol Knapp and her companion, Fred Yerkes, of Wawarsing, and Joan Lewis and her husband, Donald, of Ellenville; her sister, Arbutus Ackerman of Plattekill; 14 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; and several nieces and nephews also survive. She was predeceased by two daughters, Norma Shamro and Gloria Buckler, and a granddaughter, Betty Jean Wood. There are no calling hours. Cremation will be at the convenience of the family. Charles "Chuck" Edward Francis Quigg, a self-employed Mortgage Broker, Salvage Diver and Real Estate Investor, of Atlanta, Ga., died Saturday, November 26, 2005 in Atlanta, Ga. He was 46. Chuck was born on July 14, 1959 in Brooklyn, N.Y. He was a graduate of Washingtonville High School and a college graduate of Rochester Institute of Technology (R.I.T.). He was an avid hockey player, establishing a hockey league in Stone Mountain, Ga. He also had a Marine Pilot License and Airplane Pilot License. He is survived by his father, Charles Quigg and his wife, Ruth, of Goshen; his mother, Francine Quigg of Warwick; two sisters, Kerry-Ann Quigg of Huntington Beach, Calif. and Mary Melinda Quigg of Ithaca, N.Y. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, December 21, 2005 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Donovan Funeral Home, 82 South Church St., Goshen, N.Y. He passed away at Orange Regional Medical Center, Horton Campus, Middletown, N.Y. He was 84 years old. The son of Arthur Richter and Julia Garrison Richter, he was born June 11, 1921 in Saugerties, N.Y. Arthur was a Drill and Blast Foreman for U.S. Steel in the Mesabi Iron Range in Minnesota for 35 years until his retirement. A family statement reads: "Arthur was loved by all who knew him. In his youth, Art was an avid baseball player and loved playing hockey. Arthur served in the Army during World War II as an M.P. and was awarded a medal for his sharpshooting skills. We will miss Art's sense of humor and wit." He is survived by two sons, Arthur Alex Richter and his wife, Maryann, of Eveleth, Minn. and Brett Richter and his wife, Susan, of Wurtsboro; two daughters, Maxx Lucido and her husband, Bart, of Middletown, and Wendy Karkheck of East Durham, N.Y.; three sisters: Joyce Richter of Saugerties, Frances VanBuren of Port Ewen, and Virginia MacDowell of Albany; five grandchildren; one great-grandson; and several nieces and nephews. Felipe Santiago-Rentas, 76, a longtime resident of Newburgh, died peacefully on Saturday, December 17, 2005 at his Guilderland residence, surrounded by his loving family. He struggled with Parkinson's disease for more than 12 years. Felipe was born on June 26, 1929 in Ponce, Puerto Rico. He was an extraordinary man. Felipe was a devoted husband and loving father who was deeply committed to his family. In 1967, Felipe left his native land in search of the American dream. He wanted to provide a better life for his family. Felipe succeeded. His family will always remember him for his relentless perseverance and impeccable character. His inner strength and confidence are an inspiration to his children. His family will miss him. He will remain in their hearts forever. Felipe is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Carmen L. Santiago; his loving children: Luz Esthel Santiago, Felipe Santiago Jr., Wanda Santiago, Marilyn Santiago, Miguel Santiago, Evelyn Santiago and Lucy Haidee Santiago. He is the brother of Panchita Santiago and Pablo Nieves. 16 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren also survive. Tappen, age 85, of Kingston, N.Y., died Sunday, December 18, 2005 at Benedictine Hospital. Mrs. Tappen was born in Newburgh on April 14, 1920, a daughter of the late Michael and Veronica McCormack Holden. She moved to Kingston in 1961. She was employed as a Bookkeeper for Werber Sportswear of Newburgh and a Home Health Aide for Home Health of Kingston. She was also a member of R.S.V.P. She was the wife of the late Edward D. Michaels and Claude W. Tappen. Two sons, Edward D. Michaels Jr., William J. Michaels, and a sister, Mary Holden, also predeceased her. Surviving are two daughters, Michele A. Prentergast and Dorian K. Michaels, both of Kingston; three sons: Lawrence Michaels of Peabody, Mass., Gerald P. Michaels of Brick, N.J., and Michael C. Tappen of Kingston. Nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren also survive. The funeral procession will form on Wednesday, December 21 at 9 a.m. at the Joseph V. Published in the Times Herald-Record on 12/19/2005. Thurston, John S. (Sty) John S. (Sty) Thurston, a lifetime resident of Cornwall, passed away on December 15, 2005. He was 93 years old. The son of John and Alice Hand Thurston, he joined the Cornwall Local as a reporter in 1935, which marked the beginning of a 40-year career in the newspaper and printing business. Four years later, he became a partner in the business which was later incorporated as the Courier-Local Press with newspapers in Cornwall and Central Valley. He held several positions in the business including President, Business Manager and Editor of the Local. When the business was sold in the early 1970's he stayed four years with the new owner, retiring in 1976. A graduate of Cornwall High in 1931, he was four letter athletic and played right guard on the 1931 basketball team, which won the New York State Class B Championship. An ardent golfer, he was a member of the Storm King Golf Club for 55 years (in 2004). The Club honored him with a life membership in 1994. He was a member of the Cornwall Lions Club and a third generation member of the Cornwall, New Windsor and Monroe Horse Thief Detection Society. He served as secretary of this historic society for 23 years. Survivors include his daughter-in-law, Sandra Willams Thurston of Great Barrington, Mass.; a grandson, Jerry of Chestertown, N.Y. and the State of Florida; a granddaughter, Sharon of Great Barrington; a great-granddaughter, Raven Thurston of Great Barrington; friend and companion, Gladys Blatchley; one brother, Robert Thurston and his wife, Dorothy, of Newburgh; brother-in-law, George Edgar and his wife, Mary, of Cornwall; sisters-in-law, Gladys O'dell of Cornwall and Marcy Edgar of Newburgh. Several Nieces and nephews also survive. He was predeceased by his wife of 63 years, Nancy Edgar Thurston; their only child, a son, Jerry Lee Thurston; and brother, Charles Hand Thurston and wife, Lillian. Cremation arrangements will be by James Lulves Funeral Home. His ashes will be interred in Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Mountainville at the convenience of the family. There will be no calling hours. A Memorial Service will be held at the Cornwall United Methodist Church on Wednesday, December 21 at 11 a.m. The Rev. Robert Milsom will officiate.
