Charles M. Burgher, Sr. of Ellenville, a life-long resident and a driver for Dunkin Donuts, died December 18, 2005 at his home. He was 68. The son of Edna Burgher, he was born on February 19, 1939 in Ellenville. He was a life member of the Kimble Hose Fire Company, Ellenville, a past fire chief of both the Ellenville Fire Department and the Ellenville Fire District, a life member of the Ulster County Volunteer Firemen's Association, and was a member of the Ulster County Arson Task Force. Charlie was an associate member of Scoresby Hose, Hook and Ladder Company and Pioneer Engine Company, and was a life member of the Ulster County Fire Chief's and Line Officer's Association. Charlie served in the United States Marine Corps. Survivors include three sons: Michael Wragge of Alaska, Charles Burgher, Jr. of Hawthorne, N.Y., Eugene Burgher of Norwich, Conn., and one daughter, Pattie Nichols of Ellenville. Cioto Sr., Joseph A. Joseph A Cioto Sr. of Highland, New York passed away on December 17, 2005 at home after a short battle with cancer with family by his side. He was born July 23, 1951 to the late Nicholas and Evelyn Pulver Cioto. He is survived by his loving wife, Lauretta Schrauer, to whom he was married on July 28, 1979. They were married 26 years, three beloved children Kelly, Joseph Jr., Michael Cioto and stepson Bruce Earley, three grand children: Christopher, Andrew, Izabella Cioto and step grandson Matthew Earley, three brothers Nicholas Jr. of Arizona, Richard and his wife Karen of Connecticut and John of Walden, N.Y. and several nieces, nephews and friends. She was 87. She was born October 29, 1918 in Glasglow, Scotland, the daughter of the late David and the late Isabella Barlow Chalmers. She was married to the late William Cunningham; he died in 1951. Surviving are her son, William M. Cunningham of Cuddebackville, N.Y., a niece, Joan Klingman of Tampa, Fla., a nephew, William Hackman of Binghamton, N.Y. and a granddaughter. The daughter of the late Natale Chille and the late Maria Chille, she was born on July 27, 1930 in Brooklyn. She was married to Jack Giamportone on June 30, 1962 in St. Agnes Church in Brooklyn. Survivors include her husband, Jack Giamportone of Highland, her son and daughter-in-law, Jack G. and Carey Giamportone of Raleigh, N.C., her daughter, Carol Giamportone of Highland, grandchildren Marissa and Joseph Giamportone of Raleigh, N.C., her brothers: Peter Chille of Texas, Joseph Chille of Long Island, N.Y., Anthony Chille of Pennsylvania and many nieces and nephews. She died alongside her sister, Nancy Luca, in a car accident on December 20, 2005. Published in the Times Herald-Record on 12/22/2005. Gilnick, Daniel J. Daniel J. Gilnick passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, October 27, 2005 with family at his side. He was retired from the New York Telephone Company where he was employed as a Service Technician in Special Services as a teletype communications specialist. The son of Bessie Cooper and Frank Gilnick, he was born in Newburgh on November 13, 1923, and resided in Leptondale for the last 55 years. Daniel was predeceased by his beloved wife Marion who passed away December 8, 2002, and by his only son, Robert, who passed away August 1996. He is survived by his loving daughter, Kathy Swenson, and her husband, Glenn, of Wallkill and five grandchildren; Jennifer Stillitano and her husband, Paul, of Hopewell, N.J., Christopher Swenson of Newburgh, and Cody, Justin and Eliza Gilnick of Seattle, Washington. He is also survived by his precious great-granddaughter, Sara Stillitano, who was the light of his life. Also surviving is one sister, Frances Dabroski of New Windsor, and many nieces and nephews. Daniel proudly served his country during World War II as a member of the 45th Infantry Division of the United States Army. He fought in the European Theater, which included the Battle of Anzio. Having been captured by the German army in France, he was held for eight months as a POW in both Stalag 4B in Chemnitz, Germany and Stalag 12 in Limburg, Germany. While in the camps, he was assigned to work on the railroads during one of Europe's harshest winters. Having been wounded before being captured, Daniel was the recipient of numerous medals including the Purple Heart. A family statement reads: "Dad was a loving husband, son, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, (Papa and Great Papa) His endless devotion and generosity to his family was immeasurable. His reputation as a devoted worker was well known and admired by all who knew him. His great-granddaughter Sara (who was born in 2003) made his last few years a joy. The wonderful memories we have of Dad will live on always." Funeral services were private with the Reverend Richard Spierling officiating. Entombment at Cedar Hill Mausoleum was also private. Maloney, of Warwick, a maintenance worker having retired from the Rye School System, also having worked with the postal service, died Sunday, December 18, 2005 at St. Anthony Community Hospital in Warwick. He was 94. The son of the late Patrick and Catherine Jones Maloney, he was born on November 21, 1911 in New York, N.Y. A United States Army veteran, Mr. Maloney served as an MP while stationed in Germany during WW II. Survivors include his daughter, Linda Rinehart and husband Martin and his granddaughters Amanda and Virginia all of Warwick; nieces and nephews, Wayne, Donald and Kenny Maloney all of Westchester, Mary Jones of the state of Florida and Betty Stevens and Frank Ferrara both of California. He was predeceased by his sister, Alice Ferrara and his brothers, William and Thomas Maloney. Funeral services will be private and held at the convenience of the family. He was 85. Maurice was born in the Bronx, the son of Boris and Fannia Teitelbaum Tartakoff on February 7, 1920. He was a World War II Army Medic veteran. Maurice was a longtime member of Congregation Ezrath Israel Synagogue and the Men's Club; he was also a member of B'nai B'rith and the Knights of Phythias. Treacy, Rita Gorham Rita Gorham Treacy, formerly of Highland Falls, N.Y. entered into eternal life on Monday, December 19, 2005 at home surrounded by her loved ones. The daughter of the late E. Rosalie and Joseph G. Gorham she was born on August 17, 1931 at West Point, N.Y. She was predeceased by her devoted husband of 51 years, Alfred J. "Jack" Treacy. Mrs. Treacy is survived by two sisters: M. Dorothy Lewis of Wilmington, N.C. and Catharine M. Sheldon of Fort Montgomery, N.Y. She is also survived by seven children, five daughters: Mary S. Burton of City Island, N.Y.; Rosanne Treacy Storms and her husband, Edward of Cornwall-On-Hudson, N.Y.; Christine Treacy of Cornwall, N.Y.; Elizabeth Nytko and her husband, Frederick and Jacqueline Baisley and her husband, Arthur, all of Highland Falls; two sons: Timothy J. Treacy and his wife, Viola of Boca Raton, Fla.; and Daniel J. Treacy at home. Mrs. Treacy was affectionately known as "Mema" by her nine grandchildren; John Burton, E. Scott and Kati-Anne Storms, Jerimie, Chad and Ian Treacy, Emily and Fred Nytko and Kerianne Mulqueen. She is also survived by three great-grandchildren: Chloe Storms, Makenzie Vandervort, and Joseph Burton in addition to many beloved nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. A graduate of Highland Falls High School and Spencerian Institute, Mrs. Treacy retired after many years of dedicated service from the United States Military Academy, serving in the departments of Social Science, the Association of Graduates and the Adjunct General's Administration Office. A loving and devoted mother, Mrs. Treacy served tirelessly as a staunch advocate for individuals afflicted with developmental disabilities, in particular, Autism. Mrs. Treacy was a lifelong member of the Church of the Holy Innocents where she served as Clerk of the Vestry for many years. She was a member of the American Legion's Ladies Auxiliary.
