Dr. James A. Alborano of Matamoras, Pa., a Delaware Valley Elementary and Middle School Teacher and resident of Matamoras for most of his life, died Thursday, December 22, 2005 at Bon Secours Community Hospital, Port Jervis, N.Y. He was 58. He was born April 9, 1947 in Brooklyn, N.Y., the son of the late Arthur A. "Bo" and the late B. Eleanore Polley Alborano. A 1965 graduate of Delaware Valley High School, he received his BA degree in Political and Social Science in 1969 from East Stroudsburg University and his MA degree in History in 1971 from East Stroudsburg. In 1973 he received his M.Ed. from Lehigh University in Elementary Education and in 1974 received his Administrative Certification from Lehigh University. In 1991 he received his A.B D degree in Administration Policy and Urban Education from Fordham University. He was a member of Hope Evangelical Free Church, Matamoras and was Vice-President of the Church Board of Directors and was Lay Leader for many years. He had also been the Church organist, Choir member, Sunday School Teacher and Superintendent; a past Master and member of Orange-Sullivan Pomona Grange and past Deputy State Master, Neversink Valley Grange and Mount Prospect Grange; Friends of the Pike County Library; had been Vice-Chairman of the Pike County Republican Committee; a member of the Westfall Republican Committee for 15 years; member of the Matamoras-Westfall Republican Club and had served as Pike County Historian, Westfall Township Historian and Matamoras Borough Historian; was a Westfall Township Auditor and served on the Township Vacancy Board. His professional memberships included National Education Association, Commonwealth of Pennsylvania - Public School Employees Association, Pike County Education Association and was in Who's Who of American Teachers. Dr. Alborano was also a member of the Tri-State Community Chorus and was a former member of the Pike County 4-H Development Fund Board, Pike County Committee on the Bicentennial of the U.S. Constitution and Children and Youth Services Advisory Board of Pike County. He is survived by several cousins. There will be no visitation. Dec. 24, 2005 at Bon Secour Community Hospital in Port Jervis. Mr. Barbagallo was born to the late John and Teresa Lisi Barbagallo in Manhattan, NYC on April 11, 1924 and on Feb. 20, 1949, in Brooklyn, N.Y., Charles married the former Elizabeth DeMichele. Mr. Barbagallo was a WW II United States Army veteran who served in the Asiatic-Pacific Theater. Charles last worked for McLean Trucking, Campbell Hall, N.Y.; he served the fire police for New Hampton Vol. Fire Company, New Hampton for many years and was also a former scout master at the former Warwick training school in Warwick, N.Y. He is survived by his wife Elizabeth at home; one foster daughter, Marie Cooklish of New Tonawanda, N.Y.; two aunts; and nieces, nephews and cousins. Jeanne was born in Pompton Plains, N.J. on November 17, 1929, the daughter of Arthur and Edna (Holbrooke) Smith. Jeanne was predeceased by her husband, Patrick J. Bauer, Sr. and a daughter, Sherrie Thiel. She is survived by four sons, Patrick J. Coleman-Hall, a 45-year resident of Dutchess County, died Thursday, Dec. 22, 2005 at St. Luke's Cornwall Hospital in Newburgh. She was 63. The daughter of the late Herman Coleman Sr. and Dorothy Mae Williams Coleman, she was born Dec. 16, 1942 in Orange, Va. She was a retired senior buyer for IBM in Fishkill with 25 years of dedicated service. She was a member of Star of Bethlehem Baptist Church of Beacon where she served as church clerk and secretary. She was most noted for her affiliation with OIC of America and served as a dedicated Board Chairperson of (HVOIC) Hudson Valley Opportunities Industrialization Center for Dutchess and Orange Counties. Her extensive travel on Behalf of HVOIC led to the implementation of a skills training and employment program in the Hudson Valley. Mrs. Hall has been honored by world renowned officials such as Dr. Ralph D. Abernathy, Julian Bonds, Andrew Young, Dr. Leon Sullivan, Joseph Lowery and Coretta Scott-King for her diligence and commitment to OIC of America. She was a life-member of the Northern Dutchess Chapter of the NAACP. Her awards for outstanding community service were noted by: The Empire State of Woman's and Youth Clubs, Inc., Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Inc. and OIC of America and Black Achievers. Curesky, Francis Francis Curesky of Modena, a driver for Wallkill Correctional Facility, Wallkill and a lifelong resident of the area died Wednesday, December 21, 2005 in Goshen due to complications of Parkinson's disease. He was 72. The son of the late Mitchell and Agatha Puchalski Curesky, he was born April 11, 1933 in Wallkill. He was a member of St. Charles Borromeo Church, past member of the Wallkill Volunteer Fire Dept., C.S.E.A. and A.A.R.P. A family statement reads: "He had a 'heart of gold,' was a kind and generous person, always willing to help family, friends, neighbors and even strangers at times. He loved to attend auctions and flea markets with friends and enjoyed taking the elderly out for dinner and a car ride. His recently acquired 'family' at the Campbell Hall Rehabilitation Center states that he was a very special, wonderful person. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him." Holahan, Joseph Patrick Joseph Patrick Holahan, a resident of Pearl River, N.Y. for 44 years, died Friday, December 23, 2005 at Nyack Hospital. He was 76. Mr. Holahan was a Police Officer with the NYPD for over 21 years in the 34th Precinct, before retiring in 1974. He was a member of the NYPD Honor Legion; a recipient of the Medal of Valor; and was a member of the 1013 Club. He was also a retired Assistant Chief of Security for Ramapo College, Mahwah, N.J., retiring in 1995. Mr. Holahan was born March 7, 1929 in Yonkers, N.Y. to Thomas and Nellie Holahan. Mr. Holahan served in the United States Army from 1950 until 1952. He was a former Nanuet Little League coach. He loved his God, Family and Friends and will be missed by all. She joined the babysitting co-op and bookclub through the Women of Monroe Club. Donald Edgar Robbins, 61, of Ruffsdale, died suddenly Saturday, Dec. 24, 2005 in Excela Health Westmoreland Regional Hospital, Greensburg. Born Aug. 12, 1944, in Unionville, N.Y., he was a son of the late Albert Sr. and Phoebe DeVore Robbins. He was a veteran of the US Navy, having served as a machinist mate master chief E9 with 22 years of service on the following nuclear submarines: USS Sea Leopard SS 483, USS Alexander Hamilton SSBN 617, USS Nathan Hale SSBN 623, USS Hawkbill SSN 666 and USS Kamehameha SSBN 642. He retired honorably from the Navy with an impeccable service record. Mr. Robbins retired from Westinghouse Nuclear Refueling Division as field service engineer with 20 years of serves and was the winner of the Westinghouse Award fror Service Excellence. He was at the top of the nuclear refueling field in the US and Europe. In addition of his parents, he was predeceased by four brothers, Jack, Frederick, William and Wayne Robbins. Survivors include her fiancee, John Yerkins of Wawarsing, her son, John Mechler of Napanoch, her sister, Kathy Scanlon and her husband, Kenneth, of Wawarsing; three nieces, Jullian Zweck and her husband Owen, Samantha Scanlon and Katelyn Scanlon all of Wawarsing. Verde a life-time resident of Circleville, died December 20, 2005. She was 96 years old. She was born November 7, 1909 in Circleville to Eli and Bertha Ayres Bennett. Mrs. Verde was a schoolteacher in the Pine Bush School District, Elder, member and Chair Person of the Mission Committee at the Circleville Evangelical Presbyterian Church and a member of the Lantern Society of New York State University at New Paltz. She conducted bible studies for the residents of St. Teresa's Nursing Home. She is survived by her loving daughter Kathleen V. Schulhoff and her husband James of Gardiner, N.Y.; grandsons John Frost of Monticello, N.Y. and James Frost of Circleville; great-granddaughter Katelyn Frost; sister Myrtle Bergman of Circleville; and many nieces and nephews. Hazel was predeceased by her brothers Frank, Bruce and Berton Bennett. Family and friends will gather at the Morse Funeral Inc., 33 Railroad Ave., Middletown, N.Y. on Tuesday, December 27 at 9 a.m. A graveside service will be at 10 a.m. at the Circleville Cemetery, Circleville and a memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. at the Circleville Evangelical Presbyterian Church, Circleville.
