She was 76. Jeanne was born in Pompton Plains, N.J. on November 17, 1929, the daughter of Arthur and Edna (Holbrooke) Smith. Jeanne was predeceased by her husband, Patrick J. Bauer, Sr. and a daughter, Sherrie Thiel. She is survived by four sons, Patrick J. Bauer Jr. and wife Cheryl, Michael Bauer and wife Darcy, James Otte and Bruce Otte; four daughters, Bridgette Schliessman and husband Steve, Melissa Bauer, Susan Marshall and husband Donnie and Deborah Roth; 19 grandchildren, six great-grandchildren; a sister, Edna Ready; and a brother, Griffin Smith. DeWitt, Trystin Anne Trystin Anne DeWitt, infant, lifelong resident of the area, died Thursday, December 22, 2005 at Westchester Medical Center, Valhalla, N.Y. The daughter of Roy A. DeWitt & Kirsten L. Metz DeWitt, she was born in Valhalla on December 19, 2005. Survivors include her parents: Roy A. & Kirsten L. DeWitt of Pine Bush; sister: Gillian DeWitt at home; paternal grandparents: Roy & Dolores DeWitt of New Windsor; maternal grandparents: Harry & Phyllis Ludas of Campbell Hall; maternal grandfather: Alan Metz of Arizona; several aunts, uncles & cousins. Dietz, Alice Marie Alice Marie Dietz, 83, passed away peacefully on December 23, 2005 at her residence with her family at her side. Alice was born on May 6, 1922 in Beacon to Herman and Rose Smith Cavanaugh. She was predeceased by her loving husband of 56 years, Eddie, on September 6, 1999. Alice was a retired Nurse's Aide for the Cornwall Hospital and a member of St. John's Episcopal Church in Cornwall for over 60 years. Survivors include two sons, Gary Dietz and his wife, Marjory, of Edina, Minn. and Wayne Dietz and his wife, Elizabeth, of Florida, N.Y. She also leaves behind her beloved grandchildren: Christopher, Matthew and Jennifer, all of Florida, N.Y. Survivors also include many nieces, nephews, cousins and many great friends. She will be especially missed by her dog, Max. In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by her sister, Rose Barry. "Betty" Martino, of Port Jervis, died Sunday, December 25, 2005 at St. Joseph s Place in Port Jervis. She was 91. She was born June 14, 1914 in Port Jervis, the daughter of the late Philip and the late Bess E. Marshall Shafer. She was the widow of the late Joseph F. Martino Sr.; he died Nov. 8, 1987. She was a member of the Clara Bradley Lodge. A family statement read: "She was a loving mother and grandmother. Mom loved to go play bingo, take trips to Atlantic City and play cards with her family. She especially enjoyed just spending time with her family. We loved her dearly and she will be sadly missed." Surviving are three sons: Joseph F. Martino Jr. of Staten Island, N.Y., Michael A. Richard A. Matthews, a longtime area resident, died Saturday, December 24, 2005 at Columbia Presbyterian Hospital, Bronx, N.Y. He was 84 years old. The son of the late Richard A. and Mary McKenna Matthews, he was born August 18, 1921 in Bronx, N.Y. A Veteran of the United States Navy, he proudly served his country in WW II. After returning home, he was a police officer for the New York City Police Department, 41st Precinct. Richard married the former Eileen Marie Busher on April 24, 1948 in Dobbs Ferry, N.Y. Together they moved to the area in 1953 to start a poultry farm and raise their family. "Dick" was known as the eggman to his many customers on his egg delivery route. A family statement reads, "Dad was a hard-working man who cared deeply about his family. He will be greatly missed." He is survived by four sons, Stephen of Middletown, Andrew and his wife, Tammy, of Montgomery, Michael and his wife, Darcy, of Montgomery, John and his wife, Emily, of Bloomsberg, Pa.; one daughter, Julia Matthews and her husband, William J. Philadelphia, Pa., died on December 25, 2005, in Goshen. A longtime resident of the area, he was 70. He was born June 2, 1935 in Auburn, New York and served in the Army during the Korean Conflict. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Hamptonburgh, the Farm Bureau, National Tractor Puller's Association and several other Tractor Puller's Associations throughout the east coast. Survivors include his wife Sharon L. Owens at home; son Thomas L. Owens and his wife Renee of Montgomery; daughters Linda S. Noller and her husband Craig of Montgomery, Tracey C. A family statement reads, "She was a very loving mom and wife who dedicated her life to caring and giving to her family. She continuously demonstrated strength and encouragement. Richburg of Walden, retired owner of the West Side Service Station and later affiliated with his daughter at Ardon's By the Bridge, Walden, died December 25, 2005 in Montgomery. He was 97. The son of the late Edward M. and Lena Pitkin Richburg, he was born July 27, 1908 in Walden. He was a member of St. Andrew's Episcopal Church, Walden and a member of the Masonic Lodge of F. & A.M. #627 for over 70 years. The family would like to extend their thanks and gratitude for the loving care that the staff at the Montgomery Nursing Home provided. Donald Edgar Robbins, 61, of Ruffsdale, died suddenly Saturday, Dec. 24, 2005 in Excela Health Westmoreland Regional Hospital, Greensburg. Born Aug. 12, 1944, in Unionville, N.Y., he was a son of the late Albert Sr. and Phoebe DeVore Robbins. He was a veteran of the US Navy, having served as a machinist mate master chief E9 with 22 years of service on the following nuclear submarines: USS Sea Leopard SS 483, USS Alexander Hamilton SSBN 617, USS Nathan Hale SSBN 623, USS Hawkbill SSN 666 and USS Kamehameha SSBN 642. He retired honorably from the Navy with an impeccable service record. Mr. Robbins retired from Westinghouse Nuclear Refueling Division as field service engineer with 20 years of serves and was the winner of the Westinghouse Award fror Service Excellence. He was at the top of the nuclear refueling field in the US and Europe. In addition of his parents, he was predeceased by four brothers, Jack, Frederick, William and Wayne Robbins. Scanzano, Enrico "Harry" Enrico "Harry" Scanzano, of Newburgh, passed away on Saturday, December 24, 2005 at St. Luke's Cornwall Hospital, Newburgh. He was 84. Son of the late Frank and Antonette Scanapieco Scanzano, he was born on August 3, 1921 in Brooklyn, N.Y. He married Madeline Montemarano on June 19, 1949 at St. Lucy's Church, Brooklyn, who survives at home. Harry proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during WW II. While serving he earned the WW II Victory Medal, Asiatic-Pacific Service Medal, American Service Medal and the Good Conduct Medal. He retired from the Plumbers Union Local #273. Harry loved his grandchildren dearly. He was an avid Yankee fan and enjoyed playing cards with his friends at Washington Lake, talking politics and solving problems. In addition to his loving wife, Madeline, of 56 years, he is survived by his son, Frank and his wife Diane of Newburgh; his grandchildren, Nicole, Janine and Anthony, all of Newburgh; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was predeceased by his brothers, Daniel and Thomas Scanzano, and his sister, Concetta DiLorenzo. Kevin Darrin Van Der Molen, of Sacramento, Calif., a zookeeper in charge of the carnivore section of the Sacrament Zoo, died suddenly on Friday, Dec. 23, 2005. He was 43. The son of Garry and Geor gene Van Der Molen, he was born on April 2, 1962 in Middletown, N.Y. Kevin was a graduate of both Minisink Valley High School and the Culinary Institute of America. A family statement read, "Kevin was a fun-loving gentleman. He was someone who loved life and attempted to make the most of each day of his life. He was an especially caring and helpful person to his loving daughter, who was the apple of his eye, his family, friends and those around him. He was a true lover of nature and animals. He was able to fill one of his dreams in working as a zookeeper. He had a desire to see as much of the world as he could and traveled as much as he could. He always tried to truly live life to the fullest. He will be terribly missed by his family and those who knew him."
