Joseph E. Cabral, a proprietor of J & E Variety Store in Cambridge, Mass., died Tuesday, Dec. 27, 2005 at Taylor Care Health Center in Westchester. He was 79. The son of the late Alfred and Jennie Rebello Cabral, he was born Dec. 16, 1926 in Cambridge, Mass. He was an Army veteran of WW II. He was the loving husband of Evelyn Andrade Cabral who predeceased him. Survivors include one son, Robert Cabral of Cambridge, Mass; two daughters, Cheryl Cabral of New Windsor, Janice Powell of Newburgh; three grandchildren, Joseph Cabral and Stephanie and Michele Powell; two brothers, Richard Cabral of Raymond, N.H., Donald Cabral of Kenne, N.H. He was predeceased by one brother, Alfred Cabral Jr. Funeral services and burial will be private in the family plot in Cambridge, Mass. Funeral arrangements were under the care of Anthony V. Colsey of Valley Cottage, N.Y., former longtime resident of South Nyack and Central Valley, passed away on Monday Dec. 26, 2005 following a prolonged period of declining health, at the age of 78. Mr. Colsey was born in Nyack, N.Y. on April 18, 1927 to Lloyd and Irene (Sickels) Colsey Sr. He was predeceased by his wife of 51 years, JoAnn (Claypoole) in 2001 and his aunt Hilda May Sickels. Following graduation from Nyack High School in 1945, he attended Columbia University, and was later employed in the Payroll Department at Orange & Rockland Utilities until his retirement in 1987. Mr. Colsey was an avid reader, football fan, automobile enthusiast and political critic. He enjoyed prior affiliations with Mazeppa Fire Engine Co. No. 2 of the Nyack Fire Department, the South Nyack Police Auxiliary and the Nyack Civic Association. Mr. Colsey is survived by two sons, Alan B. Colsey (Virginia) of Valley Cottage and Lloyd Claypoole Colsey (Joan) of Butler, Pa.; five grandchildren, Blair, Benjamin & Allison Colsey of Valley Cottage, Shannon (Bill) Williams and Julie Colsey of Butler, Pa.; and three great-grandchildren, Damian & Nicholas Williams and Rayna Starr, as well as his beloved dog, Ginger. Published in the Times Herald-Record on 12/31/2005. Gilbert, Gabrielle Gabrielle Gilbert, nee Kahn, passed away on Wednesday, December 15, 2005 at Vassar Bros. Hospital, Poughkeepsie. Gabrielle began residence in Chester, N.Y. in 1942. She and her family had escaped Nazi Germany when she was still a child of 6 years. They lived in France, and then in Holland: the Nazi armies invaded and occupied Holland where Gabrielle and family hid for 1 1/2 years, until they were able to escape through France and Spain to Lisbon and the United States. They settled in Chester, N.Y. in 1942. Gabrielle graduated from Chester High School, and then left for New York City and Columbia University. She married and had two children with Professor Scott Gilbert. The sons are Scott Gilbert and Clement Gilbert. Mr. Gilbert became ill and remarried. In 1960 Gabrielle began a lifelong association with her husband, James Hulquist. They moved from Manhattan in 1965 to Town of Gardner, where Gabrielle acquired what was formerly her father's farm. As a profession, she designed and decorated living spaces. The family and friends will hold a memorial service from noon till 5 p.m. on Saturday, January 7, 2005 at the family farm, 23 South Mountain Rd., Gardner, N.Y. Published in the Times Herald-Record on 12/31/2005. Hartling, Cory Cory Hartling, a 10th grade student at NFA, entered into rest on Dec. 29, 2005 at St. Luke's Hospital. He was 15. The son of John and Darlene Ibbetson Hartling, he was born November 25, 1990 in Riverside, Calif. A family statement reads, "His favorite past times were drawing and sculpting." He was a member of the Astronomy Club and Cartoon Club of NFA. Survivors include his parents at home; five siblings, Matthew, James, Kathryn, Emily, Jillian; grandparents, David and Claudette Ibbetson of Newburgh, Theresa O'Connor of Albany, Arnold and Shirley Hartling of Clifton Park, N.Y.; numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. Visitation will be held at the Doulin Newburgh Funeral Home, Inc., 318 N. Montgomery St., Newburgh, N.Y. on Tuesday, January 3, 2006 from 4-8 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 6 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home with Monsignor John Budwick officiating. Meibaum, Ruth Cale Ruth Cale Meibaum, of Greenwood Lake, an artist and longtime resident of the area, died on Thursday, Dec. 29, 2005 in St. Anthony's Community Hospital in Warwick. She was 95. The daughter of the late Arthur and Marie Kagres Cale, she was born on March 14, 1910 in Newark, N.J. She was a former dispatcher for the Greenwood Lake Volunteer Ambulance Corps. Survivors include her daughter, Blossom Brower of Greenwood Lake and her niece and nephew. Services will be private and at the convenience of the family. Petrucci, Melissa Marie Ciancio Melissa Marie Petrucci of Wallkill, died on December 29, 2005 at home, with her loving family at her side. She was 36 years old. The daughter of Vincent and Cheryl Bride Ciancio, she was born October 29, 1969 in Beacon, N.Y. Melissa was a graduate of Mount Saint Mary College in Newburgh and worked as a Media Consultant for Active International in Pearl River, N.Y. She was a member of Most Precious Blood Church. Survivors include her husband of 11 years, John A. Petrucci and one-year-old twins, Alexander Vincent and Jordan Elizabeth at home; her father Vincent Ciancio and his wife Laurie of Hopewell Junction; her mother Cheryl Ciancio of Beacon; father and mother-in-law Pasqual and Janice Petrucci of Wallkill; her siblings Jennifer Pisterzi and her husband John of Beacon, Trudi Ciancio and Melanie Ciancio both of Beacon, Ray Moen of Yonkers, Kelly Moen of Wappingers Falls and Michele Moen of Hopewell Junction; brother-in-law Michael Petrucci and his wife Laurie of Cranford, N.J.; sister-in-law Denise Little and her husband Jeffrey of Hanover, Pa.; five nephews, Brian, Christopher and Sean Petrucci of Cranford, N.J., Geoffrey and Cameron Little of Hanover, Pa. Sibble, a two-year resident of Newburgh, died Tuesday, Dec. 27, 2005 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center, Poughkeepsie. He was 65. He was a member of Trinity Seventh Day Adventist Church, Poughkeepsie. He was born in St. Thomas Jamaica, WI on April 14, 1940, the son of the late Caphilus Sibble and Sarah Beckett Sibble. Survivors include his wife, Clara McBeam of Georgia; one son, Horace Sibble Jr. of Newburgh; two daughters, Jacqueline Herbin and husband Nathaniel and Gloria Sibble all of Newburgh; one brother, Ernest Sibble and wife Donna of Georgia; two sisters, Gloria Sibble of Jamaica, WI and Glenna Sibble Bryant of London, England; two grandsons, Perryn Every Jr. and Jaydin Sibble and three granddaughters, Ayana Anderson, Nat‚zea Herbin and Jessenia Sibble all of Newburgh; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. Toscano, Nardina Nardina Toscano, of Lake Huntington, a housewife and longtime resident of the area, died Thursday, Dec. 29, 2005 at home. She was 97. The daughter of the late Joseph and Rose Rella Lella, she was born on October 18, 1908 in Grumo Appulia Bari, Italy. She was married 43 years to the late Frank Toscano who passed away in 1971. Mrs. Toscano was a member of Our Lady of the Lake Roman Catholic Church, the Cochecton Women's Club, the Catholic Daughters, Rosary Society and the US Marine Auxiliary. A family statement reads, "Nardina was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She took great pride in how she raised her children. She loved them very much. She was also very devoted to the church and many organizations. She was an avid knitter; blankets were her specialty. She would give out knitted blankets to people she had just met. Florida was not her. She wanted to be here with her family and friends. She will be greatly missed by everyone." She is survived by four sons, Joseph Toscano and his wife Frances of Toms River, N.J., Peter Toscano and his wife Anita of Lake Huntington, N.Y., Louis Toscano of Bronx, N.Y. and Frank Toscano and his wife Rolla of Greenville, Tenn.; 37 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by two children, Rocci Toscano and Mary Norfleet.
