She was 71. The daughter of the late Patsy and Ida Leombruno Cornicelli, she was born September 19, 1933 in Brooklyn, N.Y. She was the widow of George Argento. Survivors include two sons, Joseph Argento of Clintondale and George Argento, Jr. of New York City; one daughter, Anita Argento of the Town of Newburgh; two sisters, Nancy Colwell of New Port Richey, Fla., and Pat Lazzara of Hollywood, Fla.; four grandchildren and nieces and nephews. Mattingly, Lori Lynn (Lombardo) Lori Lynn (Lombardo) Mattingly, devoted wife and mother, died suddenly on Friday February 4, 2005 after a ten month battle with breast cancer - a struggle that she approached in the same way she approached her life - with grace, dignity, strength and optimism. She was 38. The daughter of Joseph Lombardo and Elaine Pigago Lombardo, Lori was born on April 28, 1966 in St. Louis, Mo. A graduate of Philippine Duchesne High School in St. Charles, Mo., Lori continued her education at Lindenwood University in St. Charles, Mo., where she earned a B.S. in Communications. Later, Lori completed the graduate business program at Bryant College in Smithfield, R.I., where she was awarded an M.B.A. Her professional career included serving as an analyst for Landmark/Magna Bancshares of St. Louis, Mo., a management consultant for Earnings Performance Group of Short Hills, N.J., the director of information systems for B-First Residential Mortgage of Warwick, R.I., and the director of information systems for Lefkowitz Champi Garfinkel & DiRienzo, P.C. of Providence, R.I. She regularly spent time in volunteer service at local senescence communities, schools and libraries. When her daughter was born in 1997, Lori made the conscious decision to postpone her professional career aspirations in favor of investing that time and energy in her family, a responsibility she lovingly undertook every day. Mr. Pineiro retired after 21 years from MTA where he drove a bus in the city that he loved and where his heart truly belonged. He was a loving, hard-working man, who loved his family and friends dearly. He and his wife celebrated 50 years of marriage on August 7, 2004. He will be missed by all of those who knew him. She was a five year member of the Thrall Library Board in Middletown. Earle H. Smith of the town of Newburgh, a retired self employed Blacksmith and a 48 year resident of the area died Saturday, February 5, 2005, at home. He was 84. The son of the late Roy and Maude Law Smith, he was born August 01, 1920 in Pascoag Rhode Island. He served in the Army during World War II in the pacific theater. Earle had also owned and trained standard bred horses and he won the governors cup in Ohio in 1963. Survivors include his wife, Joan E. Downes Smith at home; daughter Gail E. Smith of Tupper Lake NY, daughter Laurie A. Garcia of Las Vegas Nev; son Earle H. Smith Jr.and wife Kathleen of Wallkill, NY, son Gary B. Spielmann, James Julius James Julius Spielmann a longtime resident of Brick, N.J., and a former 30 year resident of Hillsdale, N.J., passed away on Friday February 4, 2005. He was 90 years old. The son of the late Julius John and Anna Marie Bircher Spielmann, he was born September 25, 1914 in Newark, N.J. He graduated from Kearny High School, Kearny, N.J. and The NY School of Printing. He retired in 1979 from the printing industry, having worked for more than 30 years for the Lenz & Riecker Company in New York City, which changed its name to the Clarkwood Corporation when it moved to New Jersey. Mr. Spielmann served with the 102nd Cavalry of the Essex NJ Troop of the National Guard. During World War II he was trained at Walter Reid Hospital and joined the Medical Detachment of the 30th General Hospital, and was promoted to Staff Sergeant. He was stationed in Essex, England, where he met the Queen of England. He then participated in the D-Day invasion of Normandy, France. He received two Purple Heart Medals, the Bronze Star, the NJ Distinguished Service Medal, along with many other medals and citations. He was honorably discharged from the Army on August 29, 1945. On July 8, 1950, he married his sweetheart, Ruth Elizabeth Powers Spielmann, who predeceased him on December 22, 1993. They were married for 43 years. Mr. Spielmann was a Charter Member of Christ Lutheran Church, Woodcliff Lake, N.J., where he worshipped for more than 20 years before moving out of the area. He was a member of the Fulton Friendship Lodge #102 of the Free and Accepted Masons in Park Ridge, N.J. and then the Durand Lodge #179 of the F&AM in Point Pleasant, N.J. He was a Life Member of Lodge #1562 of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks, Westwood, N.J. He was also very active in the Lions Head South Association in Brick, N.J., where he was an active member of the Men's Club, the Singles Club, the Travel Committee, and member of the editorial staff of the Lions Pride. He spent the past 11 years in Lions Head with his many great friends. Jim loved cruising and had been on more than 50 cruises to many destinations around the world. Survivors include his daughter, Carol Ann Spielmann Begosh, and her husband, Donald, of Hillsdale, N.J.; his son, Richard Greg Spielmann, and his wife, Barbara, of Monroe, N.Y.; his granddaughter, Erica Spielmann Bacsardi, and her husband, Paul, of Monroe, N.Y.; his grandson, Mark Spielmann, of Poughkeepsie, N.Y.; his great-granddaughter, Madelyn Marie Bacsardi, of Monroe, N.Y.; his brother-in-law, Kenneth Powers, and his wife, Nancy, of Cape May Court House, N.J.; his sister-in-law, Doris Powers Warner, of Pennsylvania; his nephews, Bruce Smith of Minnesota and Ross Riley of Florida. Many special nieces, nephews and very many dear friends also survive him. In addition to his wife, he was predeceased by his son, James Robert Spielmann, who died in 1985; his sisters, Elizabeth Spielmann Smith Koch and Ann Spielmann Riley, and his sister-in-law, Peggy Powers Flemming. Tavormina, Frances Frances Tavormina a Nurse and Risk Manager of Woodbourne died Saturday February 5, 2005 in Good Samaritan Hospital in Suffern, NY. She was 69. She was the daughter of Clarence and Antonette Wolfe Wegman. She was born April 19, 1935 in Callicoon, NY. Mrs. Tavormina was a member of the following: a Nurse and Risk Manager for Community General Hospital, a volunteer for Hospice of Sullivan County, and a substitute Nurse at Fallsburg and Tri-Valley Schools. A charter member of the Woodbourne First Aid Squad and a charter member of the Ladies of Woodbourne Fire Company #1, an active member of retired chapter #82, a founder of the Head Start program in Woodbourne and First Federally Funded Nursing Program in Sullivan County, and a clerk at the Fallsburg Library. Survivors include her husband Gary Tavormina at home, one son, Greg Tavormina and his wife Catherine of Woodbourne and 1 daughter Nancy Tavormina-McLain also of Woodbourne, three grandchildren: Kimberly, Tabatha and James, two sisters, Mary LaBarge and her husband Donald of Sarasota FL and Roberta Chamalian and her husband Peter of Burlington, CT, one sister-in-law Dorothy Berdellans of Florida and several nieces and nephews. Born in Bayamon, Puerto Rico on November 18, 1924, she was one of ten children of Angela and Raphael Charres. She was employed by the Jewish Guild for the Blind, where she lovingly instructed the blind and handicapped for 28 years. She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Edward Vega, and her children: Jean Toomey and her husband, Daniel, and Edward Vega and his wife, Mary. She is also survived by her beloved granddaughters: Shayna, Cailin, Dina and Jenna; three sisters and one brother. Mrs. Pura Vega was a devoted and loving wife, mother and grandmother who took great pride in the accomplishments of her children and grandchildren. Her generosity, lovingness, words of constant encouragement, and "can-do" attitude will forever be part of her family to be carried on.
