Edith E. Bateman, 85, of Highland, a resident since 1997, previously of Long Island, died Saturday, February 12, 2005 at home. Born in Brooklyn, NY on October 24, 1919, she was the daughter of Joseph Baker and Sarah Ward. She was married to Howard Bateman. He predeceased her May 24, 1992. She was past president of the Doe Club in FreePort, Long Island. Survivors include one daughter, Beryl and her husband Ernie Sorensen of Highland, NY; one sister, Lorraine Schouten of Port Angeles, Washington; three grandchildren: Erik and Ryan Sorensen and Lisa Koosis; granddaughter-in-law, Mellissa Sorensen; grandson-in-law, Aron Koosis. She was predeceased by two sisters, Carol Baker and Lucille Leger and two brothers, Ralph and Harold Baker. Cooper, a designer for Grummond Aircraft, and resident of Mountaindale, died Friday February 11, 2005, in Catskill Regional Medical Center. He was 87. The son of Thomas H. and Rhea Grove Cooper, he was born August 28, 1917 in Brooklyn, N.Y. Mr. Cooper was a member of the Woodridge United Methodist Church, GUNY Retiree Club and the NRA. He was a World War II Army veteran and received the Philippines Liberation Ribbon, World War II Victory Medal, two Bronze Service Stars, Asiatic Pacific Service Medal and Good Conduct Medal American Service Medal. Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Rhoda Cooper, at home; one daughter, Barbara Martin, and her husband, Gregory, of Yakima, Wash.; one son, Thomas Cooper, and his wife, Debra, of Seymour, Tenn.; four grandchildren: Suzanne Muhrfield of Pittsburgh, Pa., Jennifer Paolini of Bayport, L.I., Joseph Cooper of Knoxsville, Tenn., and Jared Cooper of Knoxsville, Tenn. Gisonno, a retired accountant for Justin Management in Manhattan, N.Y., and 35 year area resident, died Friday February 11, 2005 at St. Luke's Cornwall Hospital, Cornwall, N.Y. He was 71. The son of the late Rocco Gisonno and the late Rose Miele Gisonno, he was born June 10, 1933 in Sloatsburg, N.Y. Mr. Gisonno was a member of St. Patrick's R.C. Church in Highland Mills and the American Legion Post #1643 in Sloatsburg. Klingman, Thaddeus "Teddy" Thaddeus "Teddy" Klingman of Middletown, a 35 year employee of Orange and Rockland Utilities in Spring Valley, N.Y., having worked as a Senior System Operator, died Friday February 11, 2005, at home. He was 57. The son of Patricia O'Carolan Klingman and the late Charles J. Klingman, he was born December 22, 1947 in Middletown, N.Y. A veteran, Mr. Klingman served in the United States Navy during the Vietnam Era. A family statement reads: "Whether creating a laugh, planning a trip or a family reunion, Teddy had the unique ability to make a special time so perfect and memorable." He had a love for world travel and the culture of the countries he visited. Teddy was a member of the Knights of Columbus #486 in Middletown, and he served as a former EMT with the Port Jervis Volunteer Ambulance Corp. Survivors include his wife, Herminia Donovan-Klingman, at home; his mother, Patricia Klingman of Middletown; and his son, Ryan Matthew Klingman of Middletown. Marker, Joy Hemingway Joy Hemingway Marker, owner of Marker's Variety Store in Goshen, N.Y., died Wednesday February 9, 2005, at Orange County Residential Health Care Facility, Goshen, N.Y. She was 66. The daughter of Fred E. Hemingway and Elizabeth P. Miller Hemingway, she was born February 28, 1938 in Newburgh, N.Y. Joy was born and raised in Newburgh. She graduated from Vassar Brothers Hospital School of Nursing. After many years of traveling with her husband and family while her husband was in the U.S. Navy, she settled in Goshen and owned and operated Marker's Variety Store on Main Street. She was a manager for News America for the past several years. Joy was an active member of Christ Lutheran Church and an avid supporter and member of the Goshen Humane Society. Joy loved all animals and people and was loved by all who knew her. A family statement reads: "She was a Joy to everyone she knew and will be missed by her family and friends." She was the widow of William J. Marker. Joy is survived by her son, Jeffrey Marker and his wife, Cindy, of Panama City, Fla.; brother, Joseph Hemingway and his wife, Helaine, of Stratham, N.H.; sister-in-law, Wilma M. Harris, of New Windsor; grandson, Michael Marker; and three nephews: Paul Hemingway and his wife, Susan, of Canandaigua, N.Y., Christopher Harris of San Diego, Calif., and Kevin Harris and his wife, Donna, of Mahwah, N.J. Mrs. Rice was born January 25, 1909 in Highland Mills, NY to the late George W. and Jennie Rumsey Weyant. In 1931 she married the late Walter P. Rice at St. Thomas R.C. Church in Cornwall-On-Hudson, where they lived for 16 years. They then relocated to Ellenville and finally to Kingston where they lived together until Walter's death in 1990. She was raised by her grandmother, Alice Rumsey due to the death of her mother when she was three years old. She is survived by one daughter, Eileen Stedner of Hurley, NY. She is also survived by two grandchildren, two great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by one grandson. The funeral procession will form at the A. Rutledge, Madeline Rose Madeline Rose Rutledge of Middletown and formerly of Pennsylvania, died Thursday, February 10, 2005 at her home. The daughter of the late Joseph and Teresa Martino, she was born in Carbondale, PA. She was the widow of the late Francis Rutledge. A Family statement read: "Our Aunt Madeline was kind and generous. She loved us all and will be greatly missed." The son of Robert Skidmore and Gertrude Mensing Skidmore, he was born May 27, 1930 in Middletown, N.Y. He was the husband of Lavina Gregory Skidmore, who survives. He attended St. John's Lutheran Church, Middletown, NY. Mr. Skidmore was a U.S. Army Veteran of the Korean War, a member of C.S.E.A. and a former member of the Howells Fire Co. She also sang in Community Choir and at Church Choir. A family statement reads: "Agnes was the most kind-hearted person who always had a smile on her face as she walked about town. She will be missed."
